Akash RANA Was Arrested

(GUELPH – ERAMOSA, ON) -) On September 3, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m. a member of Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a blue sedan on Wellington Road 124, Guelph – Eramosa. As a result of the investigation, Akash RANA, 24-years-old of Kitchener, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Instrument for use in Copying Credit Cards – Possession contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possess – Credit Card Data contrary to the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, at a later date.

Two More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy on Saturday, August 31.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. Officers received a traffic complaint about a vehicle travelling westbound on Killarney Bay Road. Officers located the motor vehicle and spoke with the driver.

Stephanie Peca, 51 years-old, from Fenelon Falls was arrested and charged with

•        Operation while impaired

•        Operation while prohibited

•        Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

•        Fail to surrender insurance card

In addition to the charges the accused received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers received reports of a motor vehicle in the ditch on its roof on Fleetwood Road.

Officers located the motor vehicle, along with the driver, passenger, their dogs and cat. The passenger was taken to local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver, Hugh Empey, 38 years-old from Central Hastings was arrested and charged with

•        Operation while impaired

The accused received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The drivers will be appearing in court at a later date.

Robert DEVEREAUX – Impaired Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Robert DEVEREAUX, 53-years-old, of Ear Falls, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·         Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on October 7, 2024.

Angel DALEY – Impaired Driving

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to charges.

On August 27, 2024, at 8:32 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a restaurant on Main Street in Glencoe, Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was placed under arrest.

As a result, Angel DALEY, a 36-year-old of Tupperville, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 7, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers removed and charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences.

On August 23, 2024, just before 5:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Broadway in the Town of Orangeville.  Officers spoke with the driver and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, John MACDONALD, a 47-year-old male, from Burlington has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•     Disobey sign

On August 23, 2024, just before 7:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP conducted a traffic stop in the area of HWY 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers spoke with the driver and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Anthony BARTER, a 63-year-old male, from Caledon has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, to answer to the charges at a later date in June 2024. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for a period of 7 days.

Marc-Andre OUELLETTE – Impaired Driving, Theft, Etc.

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in Bracebridge with several offenses after complaints from members of the public.

On August 23th, 2024, at 8:45 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers received several calls from members of the public about a vehicle travelling in the town of Bracebridge making unsafe maneuvers in residential areas including Tamarack Trail, Balls Drive and Manitoba Street. Officers responded quickly and were able to stop the vehicle, safely, at Calvin Grove Park, an area of Bracebridge that was very busy with pedestrians, before anyone was injured.

Police arrested and charged 22-year-old Marc-Andre OUELLETTE of Orleans with the following offenses:

  • Operation While Impaired by Alcohol/Drug CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Mischief- Destroys or Damages Property CC 430(1)(a)
  • Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)
  • Assault a Peace Officer CC 270(1)(a)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 24, 2024.

Jeremiah ANTONE Was Arrested

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with refusal as a result of a traffic stop of suspicious vehicle.

On August 25, 2024, at 11:49 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling on Iroquois Road in Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation for an unrelated matter, when they observed a suspicious vehicle on a dead-end road, just off Iroquois Road.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized at which time the driver refused. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Jeremiah ANTONE, a 22-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was held for bail.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals are facing impaired driving charges following two separate investigations over the weekend.

On August 24, 2024, at approximately 6:51 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint involving a suspected impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and driver in the town of Mitchell, Municipality of West Perth.

As a result of the investigation, Kevin McDONALD, a 52-year-old from Mitchell, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On August 25, 2024, at approximately 3:02 a.m., the Perth County OPP initiated a collision investigation involving a passenger vehicle leaving roadway and entering a ditch on Road 164, Municipality of North Perth.

As a result of the investigation, Maytenor ZAMBRANO, a 25-year-old from Palmerston, was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both drivers were released from custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 7, 2024.

Additionally, both drivers were issued 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspensions (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundments.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals were charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 12:14 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Main Street of Courtland in Courtland, Norfolk County.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 30-year-old Timothy AULENBACK of Whites Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Around 12:55 a.m. that same day, officers from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment were conducting a RIDE program on Turkey Point Road in Turkey Point, Norfolk County.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 27-year-old Brett SULLIVAN of Elgin County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Around 9:19 p.m. that same day, officers from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Vittoria Road in Charlotteville, Norfolk County.

After locating the vehicle on Vittoria Road, officers performed a roadside sobriety assessment of the driver.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 56-year-old Daniel CONNOR of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Matthew JANES – Impaired Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF ALNWICK-HALDIMAND, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., police responded to a report from a member of the public regarding a driver that had lost control and collided with a ditch in the vicinity of County Road 2 and Hilltop Road in the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand.

Officers arrived at the location and observed a passenger vehicle in the ditch with minimal damage. Following speaking to the uninjured driver, police entered into an impaired operation investigation. The individual was arrested and transported to a local detachment where the accused refused to comply with a demand for breath.

As a result, Matthew JANES, 30-years-old, from the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Use plate not authorised for vehicle
  • Drive motor vehicle no licence.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Tyler James TIMOTHY – Hit & Run, Impaired, Etc. Etc.

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Essex County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual following a multi vehicle collision on Highway 401.

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 10:22 a.m., members of the Essex County OPP responded to a report of a multi vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Gracey Side Road and Comber Side Road in the Municipality of Lakeshore. 

As officers arrived on scene witnesses had reported two occupants from one of the involved vehicles had fled the scene on foot. Officers located and arrested two individuals on Lakeshore Road 305.

The investigation determined that one vehicle was operating in an erratic manner and struck several other vehicles in the westbound lanes.

As a result, 20-year-old Tyler James TIMOTHY of Lakeshore has been charged with the following offences:

·        Operation While Impaired S.320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand S.320.15(1) CC

·        Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code S.320.18(1)(a) CC

·        Failure to stop after accident S.320.16(1) CC

·        Dangerous operation S.320.13(1) CC

·        Driving while under suspension S.53(1) HTA

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor for a bail hearing.

The second individual was released unconditionally.

Only minor injuries that were treated at the scene were reported.

Jonathan RALLISON Arrested Twice In One Afternoon

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a local man following a trespassing call that escalated into multiple criminal charges.

On August 22, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle trespassing on private property. The vehicle was reported to have driven onto the property, and when the owner went to investigate, the vehicle was driven towards the owner before driving away.

Police located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, the officer made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, which the driver refused. As a result, the driver was arrested for Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Jonathan RALLISON of Bancroft, was released from custody concerning this charge. However, while awaiting the arrival of a tow truck, RALLISON was arrested again, this time for assaulting a peace officer.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 26, 2024, to address the criminal charges.

Alain TANGUAY – Impaired Operation

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – An erratic driver was charged with impaired offences after refusing to provide breath samples.

On August 25, 2024, at approximately 8:30 pm, an officer with the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Scott Street when it was observed to be swerving. The vehicle was also observed to have recent collision damage.

Investigation determined that the driver was distracted by a handheld communication device and that alcohol was a factor in their driving behaviour.

The driver was arrested at the scene after they failed an approved screening device test. The driver was transported to the Fort Frances Detachment where additional breath testing demands were refused.

Alain TANGUAY, 46-years-old of Thunder Bay, ON is charged criminally with one count each of impaired operation alcohol and drug, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. The accused was also charged with provincial offences related to distracted driving, documentation, and failing to report a collision.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused was released by police and is scheduled to appear in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on October 21, 2024, to answer to the criminal charges.

Impaired Driver Arrested In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 23, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in Kincardine.

The driver was found to have been impaired by drug.

Francois BELLEMARRE, 47-years-old, from St. Catherines was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of a schedule I substance
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive while licence is suspended

Liam Horton Was Arrested

(Inverary, ON) – A driver was arrested for impaired driving, as a result, of multiple traffic complaints from citizens and a minor single vehicle collision.

On August 22, 2024, just after 6:00 pm, OPP officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint from a citizen in South Frontenac Township. A black Lexus SUV had pulled over to the side of Burnt Hills Road after striking a mailbox, near a residence. The driver left the scene with a flat tire and continued on. A second traffic complaint from a citizen placed the damaged vehicle on Round Lake Road a short time later.

 The Frontenac officers patrolled for the vehicle and located the individual parked at a business in Inverary, attempting to change the blown tire. Officers spoke with the driver and determined they had been driving. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Liam Horton, age 29 of Etobicoke, was charged with:

operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on October 08, 2024. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.
