4 More Impaired Drivers Arrested – KOVACS, D’AMBROSI, FORREST & KOPTIE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Four people have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

On Friday, August 29, 2025, at approximately 8:21 p.m., a Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe, which led to an investigation.

After a roadside sobriety test, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 28-year-old Louie KOVACS of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Follow too closely,
  • Unnecessary noise.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 11:52 a.m., the Norfolk County OPP received a report of a suspected impaired driver on Walker Street in Port Dover.

Officers located the vehicle on Walker Street and, after conducting a roadside sobriety test, took the driver into custody without incident.

As a result, 54-year-old Paolo D’AMBROSI of Mississauga, Ontario, was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 4:28 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP, together with the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle on Fertilizer Road in Delhi.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody following a roadside sobriety test, while the motorcycle operator was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, 43-year-old O’Dean FORREST of Mississauga, Ontario, was charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a sport utility vehicle on Charlotteville East Quarter Line Road in Simcoe. No injuries were reported.

The driver was taken into custody without incident after completing a roadside sobriety test.

As a result, 25-year-old Paul KOPTIE of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On July 28th, 2025 at approximately 9:57 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay & Shabaqua Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision along East Arrow Lake Road, outside of the Village of Suomi.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Donald HARRIS, 67, of the Thunder Bay, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 10th, 2025.

Furthermore, on July 29th, 2025 at approximately 12:22 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay & Shabaqua Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to another single motor vehicle collision along Highway 527, within the Unorganized District of Thunder Bay.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Crystal RANTA, 33, of Thunder Bay, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 10th, 2025.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested three drivers for impaired related offenses in the past 7 days.

On June 17, 2025 at 10:49p.m., the Huntsville OPP were conducting general patrol on Hanes Rd, when they observed a vehicle driving poorly. A traffic stop resulted in officers suspecting the driver to have alcohol in his body.

As a result of the investigation, Troy TURNER, 57 years old of Huntsville Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

The accused is set to appear in court July 15, 2025 at Ontario court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario,

On June 19, 2025 at 7:34p.m., the Huntsville OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Hidden valley Rd. The investigation resulted in the drivers arrest for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigation, Kathleen QUINLAN, 51 years old of Huntsville Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 22, 2025.

On June 22, 2025 at 12:20a.m., the Huntsville OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Main St West, when they suspected a driver to have alcohol in their body.  

As a result of the investigation, Rasmeen MASUTA, 24 years old of Brampton Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

The accused is set to appear in court August 5, 2025 at Ontario court of Justice in Bracebridge, Ontario,

All 3 drivers have had their vehicles impounded for 7 days and they received a 90 Administrative Driver’s license Suspension.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people are facing charges after police located suspected cocaine at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On February 25, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 6 in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE check, and police determined that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The driver was arrested, and further investigation resulted in the passenger being arrested.

Additionally, police seized amounts of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $12,000, and an amount of suspected psilocybin.

As a result, the driver, Jonathon MCCOMBER, 42-years-old from Little Current, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

The passenger, Dorothy VALLILLEE, 41-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance

The accused driver appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on February 25, 2025. The accused passenger is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 7, 2025.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired operation within the same shift.

On January 25, 2025, just before midnight, a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Mayfield Road and Bramalea Road, in the Town of Caledon. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Prabhnoor JOHAL, 22, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

Shortly thereafter, on January 26, 2025, just after 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle into the ditch on Mississauga Road, near Old School Road. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested

Ranjit SINGH, 31, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on February 13, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licences were also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicles were impounded for seven.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three individuals with impaired driving related charges over the last few days.

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Simcoe Street in Clearview Township. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After noticing an odour of alcohol, officers administered a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) on the driver. As a result, Martin FRANSSEN, 41-year-old of Clearview Township, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Adult Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 2:52 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting a RIDE spot check on Old Second Street North in Springwater Township. Officers administered a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) on the driver after the driver displayed signs of impairment. As a result, Frank WILLIAMS, 50-year-old of Springwater Township, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Adult Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 9:14 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were requested for assistance locating a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Collingwood. Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Highway 26 near Stayner after the vehicle left the scene in Collingwood. Officers engaged in an impaired operation investigation after the driver displayed signs of impairment. Officers administered a roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) on the driver. As a result, Cole TORRIE, 26-year-old of Chatsworth, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Adult Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Adult Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Adult Failure to stop after accident

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On January 3, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Adair Road in Stone Mills Township. Officers responded and located the driver of the vehicle at a nearby address, who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Brycen KNOWLER, age 27, of Tamworth was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to report accident
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

While investigating the collision, officers became aware of an individual that had attended the scene after the collision. Officers spoke with the driver of an additional vehicle, and they were subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jake WALKER, age 28, of Tamworth was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On January 4, 2025, just before 2:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a transport truck on Highway 401 westbound in Loyalist Township. No injuries were sustained. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver of the passenger vehicle was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jessica SLAWTER, age 43, of Kingston was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – Two 9-1-1 calls from concerned citizens within three hours, led officers to two separate impaired driving arrests in Kapuskasing.

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a suspected impaired driver on Government Road West in Kapuskasing. Officers located the subject vehicle and driver, and determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing. 

As a result, Suzanne ARSENAULT, 55 years of age, of Kapuskasing, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 24, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

Then, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officer responded to another call of a suspected impaired driver on Maple Drive in Kapuskasing. Officers located the subject vehicle and driver, and determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result, Samuel MOREAU, 21 years of age, of Kapuskasing, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 20, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

In addition, the two accused individuals received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.
