Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision between a train and a pedestrian.

On April 22, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., officers and emergency crews responded to a collision between a train and a pedestrian on Ontario Street, near Monck Street, in the Municipality of Brighton. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ontario Street between Monck Street and Butler Street was closed for several hours while the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, assisted with the investigation. The road reopened just after 5:00 p.m.

Fatal Collision Discovered About 16 Hours Later

(MIDLAND,ON) – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on the Old Penetanguishene Road Tiny Township called in to the OPP Communication Centre by a passerby motorist at 11:30 a.m. April 16, 2025.

Tiny Township Fire Service and Simcoe County Paramedic Services also attended the scene located between Forget Road and Ebenezer Side Road in which sadly the lone 30 year old male driver of Tiny Township was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Investigations unit (TTCI) are assisting detachment officers into the cause of the crash. Investigators look into all factors that could have caused the crash including the involved vehicle (and any other possibly involved vehicles) speed and condition, along with driver and road / weather condition leading up to and including the time of the crash.

It is anticipated that Old Penetanguishene Road between Forget Road and Ebenezer Side Road will remain closed until at least 4:00 p.m. April 16, 2025, while investigators complete their scene investigation and clear the scene of debris.

It is believed the crash may have occurred after 7:00p.m. April 15, 2025 and anyone who may have dashcam video or an area resident with surveillance video or has or made observations of the actions of an older model black Honda Civic during this time is asked to contact the OPP at 1-800-310-1122.

Fatal Collision on Hwy 11

(GREENSTONE, ON) – On April 12, 2025, shortly after 11:30 a.m., members of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 11 east of Longlac involving a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and two others were taken to hospital. The highway has since reopened.

The Greenstone OPP is seeking the public’s assistance in gathering information related to this collision. Officers are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage from the area at the time. Any information, no matter how small, could be valuable to the ongoing investigation.

Fatal Collision

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision on County Road 45 in Alderville.

On April 11, 2025, at approximately 8:40 p.m., members of the OPP, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian and a pickup truck. The pedestrian, a 45-year-old male, from Roseneath, was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

County Road 45 will remain closed at County Road 18 and County Road 24 for several hours while OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members conduct their preliminary investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing, and an update will be provided when available.

Fatal Collision – One Airlifted

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision that resulted in the loss of one life.

At approximately 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services and the Norfolk County Fire Department, responded to a collision involving two sedans and a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Highway 24, north of Simcoe, in Norfolk County.

As a result, an 87-year-old passenger from Norfolk County, who was in one of the sedans, suffered severe, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the same vehicle was airlifted to a trauma centre with undetermined injuries.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were both taken to hospital with undetermined injuries, while the driver of the second sedan was treated for minor injuries.

Highway 24, between Windham Road 11 and Old Highway 24, is expected to remain closed for several more hours as the investigation remains ongoing.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Highway 24 and witnessed the collision, or who has any relevant information, to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision

(SOUTH GLENGARRY TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision in South Glengarry Township.

On March 25, 2025, shortly after 6:00 a.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road-25 in the South Glengarry Township. A 61-year-old male driver from South Glengarry was pronounced deceased at scene.

The SD&G OPP continues to investigate, with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and a Collision Reconstructionist.

Fatal Collision

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.

On the 24th of March 2025, shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Highway 11/17 at Sistonen’s Corners.

As a result, one person has been pronounced deceased on scene.

The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting in the investigation. Highway 11/17 will remain closed between highway 130 and highway 102 during this time, follow Ontario 511 for any updates on road closures.

Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and is a key component of the OPP’s public safety mandate. Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate. As the vast majority of collisions are preventable, thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less.

Fatal Collision

(SOUTH DUNDAS TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal, single motor vehicle collision which occurred on County Road 2 in South Dundas Township (Village of Iroquois).

On the evening of Friday, March 21st, 2025, at approximately 10:45pm a single motor was travelling Westbound on County Road 2 in the Township of South Dundas when the vehicle failed to navigate the roundabout in the Village of Iroquois, leaving the roadway and striking several objects before coming to a rest. 

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the South Dundas Fire Department and Cornwall SDG Paramedics responded to the collision. Life saving measures were attempted but the lone 43-year-old female occupant from Montreal, Quebec was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is being led by SD&G OPP, with assistance from the SD&G Crime Unit, OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigators.

Fatal Collision

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – An individual is deceased following a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle in the Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich.

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire and Emergency Services, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision at Highway 401 near Currie Road, Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich.

The collision involved a passenger vehicle that collided with a Commercial Motor Vehicle. The early investigation indicates the passenger vehicle was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 25-year-old from London, was transported by EMS and later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The driver/lone occupant of the commercial motor vehicle, reported no injuries.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Elgin OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.

Highway 401 westbound lanes at Currie Road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time to allow for investigation.

Fatal Collision

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Highway 101, near Chapleau.

On March 17, 2025, approximately 11:40 a.m., the Superior East OPP and Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorized snow vehicle on Highway 101 at Adam Lake Road, approximately 30 kilometers, east of Chapleau.

As a result of the collision, one person, 59 years-old, of Tiny Township, died at the scene.

The investigation is on-going with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.

The highway was closed for six hours.

Fatal Collision In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has died following a motor vehicle collision in the Municipality of North Perth.

On March 18, 2025, shortly after 8:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Perth County Paramedic Services, and the North Perth Fire Department, responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Line 86 and Perth Road 140, in the Municipality of North Perth for a report of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) that collided with a passenger vehicle.

As a result of the collision a 35-year-old male passenger was pronounced deceased. The driver of the CMV and driver of the vehicle have non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are assisting Perth County OPP with the investigation.

Perth Line 86 between Perth Road 131 and Perth Road 147 and Perth Road 140 between Perth Line 84 and Perth Line 87 remains closed while officers continue to investigate. The roadway is anticipated to be closed for the next 6 hours.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – An individual is deceased after being struck by a vehicle at a farm in Kingsville.

On Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 5:11 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Kingsville Fire Department and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian at a farm on County Road 20 in the Town of Kingsville.

The 59-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team, the Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) are actively conducting an investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(MAECK TOWNSHIP, ON)- A person is deceased after a collision involving a Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) on Marisea Lake.

On March 15, 2025, approximately 6:30 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Algoma Paramedics Service responded to a single MSV collision on Marisea Lake approximately 120 kilometers north of Thessalon.

A 58-year-old from Blind River was transported to a hospital in Thessalon, where they later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

A postmortem will be taking place in Sault Ste Marie at a later date.

Fatal Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Tillsonburg.

At approximately 12:22 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, officers from the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Oxford County Paramedic Services and the Oxford County Fire Department, responded to a collision between a sedan and a train on Bayham Drive in Tillsonburg, Oxford County.

As a result, the 56-year-old driver of the sedan, a resident of London, Ontario, was transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Bayham Drive, between Highway 3 and Pressey Road, is expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Bayham Drive and witnessed the collision, or who has any relevant information, to contact Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

3 Dead In Collision

(SOUTH GLENGARRY TWP, ON) – A head-on collision east of Cornwall has left three people deceased.

It happened on Thursday, March 13, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m. Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment (SD&G) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), local RCMP officers and other first responders were called to the collision on County Road 2, near McGibbon Road

The initial investigation has determined that an eastbound vehicle had crossed into the westbound lane of the roadway, forcing at least two drivers to take evasive action. Moments later a head-on collision was reported, with one of the vehicles catching fire.

The lone occupant of the eastbound car, and the driver and one passenger in the westbound vehicle, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Another passenger from the westbound vehicle was transported to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge. Their injuries were considered serious.

The decease have been identified as a 16-year-old female from Champlain Township, a 65-year-old female from Cornwall and a 44-year-old male from Ottawa. The injured male is a 16-year-old from Cornwall.

OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigation Team members have completed the on-scene investigation and County Road 2 has been reopened.
