Another Fatal Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has claimed the life of the driver and has sent two passengers to hospital.

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 8:12 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford Detachment, Hickson Fire Department, Tavistock Fire Department, Oxford and Perth Paramedic Services, along with Ornge responded to a single motor vehicle collision at a Cassell Road, East Zorra Township address.

It was determined that a vehicle was travelling on Cassell Road when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over.

As a result, the driver of the motor vehicle suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. Two passengers were transported to hospital via Air Ornge and Ambulance with minor injuries.

OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are continuing to investigate.

Investigators are looking to speak to any witnesses that may have information surrounding this investigation. They are being asked to call the Oxford OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Cassell Road was closed for several hours between 10th Concession Line and 11th Concession Line for investigation.

Fatal Collision

(KILLALOE, ON) – Members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal single vehicle collision on Highway 60 in South Algonquin Township.

On August 31, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers responded alongside Fire and Rescue and Renfrew County Paramedics to a report of a motorcycle collision on Highway 60.

As a result, a 70-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Highway 60 a since been reopened.

Fatal Collision

(PORTLAND, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a single vehicle collision where the driver was found deceased and the passenger was found with non-life-threatening injuries.

On September 1, 2024, just after 3:00 a.m., members of the Leeds OPP received reports of a vehicle in the ditch on Country Road 8, a few kilometres east of Highway 15.

The driver was a 19 year-old man from Mallorytown and the passenger was a 17 year-old man from Brockville.

The cause of the collision is still undetermined. Leeds OPP is being assisted by the OPP Collision Reconstructionists, the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI), the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Office of Forensic Pathology.

County Road 8 remains closed between Harlem Road and Hughs Road, and will be re-opened once the on-scene investigation completes.

14 Year Old Cyclist Dead After Being Run Down On Shoulder Of Road

(SOUTH STORMONT TWP, ON) – A 14-year-old girl has died after a collision between her bicycle and a car in South Stormont Township.

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the South Stormont Fire Department and Cornwall SDG Paramedics responded to the collision on County Road 2, west of Long Sault, shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024.

When officers arrived, they found off-duty firefighters and others attempting life-saving measures on the victim, but the teenager was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The initial investigation has found that the young woman, a resident of South Stormont, had been riding her bicycle eastbound on the westbound shoulder when she was struck by a westbound car.

The driver of the car was not physically injured.

County Road 2 was closed for several hours but reopened overnight.

SD&G OPP is continuing to investigate the collision, with assistance from OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators.

Fatal Collision

(WHITBY, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) – Toronto Detachment, Whitby office investigated a single-vehicle rollover collision that resulted in one fatality and two people going to hospital.

On August 30, 2024, at 2:55 a.m, OPP officers responded to a single vehicle rollover collision on the off ramp from Highway 401 eastbound to Brock Street in Whitby.

As a result of the collision, the driver, a 23-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. In addition, a 23-year-old male passenger and 20-year-old female passenger were transported to hospital, both in non-life threatening condition.

The OPP-HSD Traffic Support Unit assisted with the investigation. The on ramp from Brock Street to Highway 401 eastbound was closed for approximately 6.5 hours for the investigation. The off ramp from Highway 401 eastbound to Brock Street will remain closed until road sign repairs are completed by the Ministry of Transportation.

Fatal Collision Closed Hwy 11

(GREENSTONE, ON) – The Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.

On August 29, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., members of the Greenstone OPP Detachment and emergency medical services (EMS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 at mile marker 1062.

One passenger from motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another passenger was transported to hospital by EMS to be treated for serious injuries.

The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting in the investigation as it remains ongoing.

Highway 11 was closed for a long period of time but was since re-opened at approximately 5:00 a.m., on August 30, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(DRYDEN, ON) – The Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.

On August 29, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m., members of the Dryden OPP Detachment along with Fire and emergency medical services responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and passenger motor vehicle on Highway 17 west of the City of Dryden.

The driver of the passenger motor vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the CMV did not sustain any injuries.

The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting in the investigation as it remains ongoing.

Highway 17 at Leach Road to Vermillion Bay remains closed at this time.

Another Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Mayfield Road, in the Town of Caledon.

On August 27, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision where of a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Mayfield Road, near McLauglin Road. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hwy 7 Fatal Collision

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision which left one person deceased.

The collision, involving a pick-up truck and an SUV, happened on Tuesday, August 26, 2024, around 1:45 p.m. on Highway-7 at Gardiner Road, between Perth and Innisville.

Despite life-saving efforts by Lanark County Paramedics, the driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The deceased is a 77-year-old woman from Ottawa. The other driver, a 49-year-old man from Mississippi Mills Township, had no serious injuries. Each was alone in their vehicle.

The highway was closed in the area until late last night to allow for a thorough investigation by OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators.

Repeat Offender Shaheryar Kalim GILL Arrested Following Deadly Hit & Run

(MISSISSAUGA, ON) – On April 22, 2023 a fail to remain collision occurred on Highway 401 westbound at Mavis Road in the City of Mississauga. As a result of the collision a 29-year-old male from Mississauga was pronounced deceased. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot.

The OPP subsequently issued a warrant for the arrest of Shaheryar Kalim GILL, 34 years old from Brampton. He was arrested on August 14, 2024.

GILL is charged with the following offences:

–         Dangerous Operation – causing death

–         Fail to stop at accident resulting in death

–         Fail to comply with release order x 4

–         Fail to comply with undertaking

He appeared in the Brampton courthouse on August 15 and was remanded into custody.

The family of the deceased has been informed of the arrest and continues to receive support from victim specialists.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on the outskirts of Tillsonburg.

At approximately 7:34 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment, along with Oxford County Paramedic Services, responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Potters Road in Tillsonburg, Oxford County.

It was determined that a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck while walking along the roadway.

As a result, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Details about the deceased individual will be withheld until next-of-kin have been notified. 

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Potters Road, between Westtown Line and Rock Mills Road, was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and urges those with pertinent information to contact the Oxford County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision Update

(OTTAWA, ON) – The investigation into a motorcycle collision in Ottawa, which claimed the lives of two riders, has been competed.

Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators have been looking into the cause of the crash. It happened on Highway 416 late in the evening on Friday, August 2, 2024.

The investigation has determined that both motorcycles were travelling at extremely high speed prior to the incident. It has also been confirmed that speed was a contributing factor in the collision.

One rider was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other died in hospital.

The OPP urges all motorcycle riders to follow posted speed limits and help ensure the safety of everyone on the roads.

Fatal Collision

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – A serious collision on B Line in Arran-Elderslie has resulted in the death of one person.

On August 15, 2024, at 8:26 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Arran-Elderslie Fire Department, and Paramedic Services responded to a report of a serious collision involving a motor vehicle on B Line in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

 Investigation determined that a single motor vehicle had been involved and a 21-year-old individual from Saugeen First Nation was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, and the South Bruce Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation.

B Line between Concession 10 and Bruce Road 40 will remain closed.

Fatal Collision Update: Occupant Who Sustained Life-Threatening Injuries Has Died 

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock has claimed the life of two individuals.

On July 4, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., members from the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from Tavistock Fire Services, Hickson Fire Services and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of the 16th Line and Cassel Side Road in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock.

The passenger from one vehicle, a 32-year-old resident of Kitchener was pronounced deceased at the scene, the driver was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle went to hospital as a precaution.

Oxford OPP was recently notified that the 34-year-old driver, a resident of Waterloo, who had been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries has died.

No other details are available at this time.

Fatal Collision

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a two-vehicle collision that took place yesterday, July 16th, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Police along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision involving two SUVs on Highway 7 near Round Tree Road. Unfortunately, the driver from one SUV , a 57-year-old male from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased in hospital. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

Highway 7 and Round Tree Road remained closed while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
