Aalaa ABDELGADIR Was Arrested – Details Released

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Two individuals have been arrested after a drug investigation by the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) into drug trafficking in the Quinte West area. 

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region CSCU, assisted by the East Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and Quinte West OPP officers, executed a search warrant on Nash Road in Courtice.  

Two people were arrested at the scene. Officers seized over $20,000 in cash, a cash counter, cellular phones and other items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Daniel LEWIS, aged 30 from Courtice, has been charged with: 

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Aalaa ABDELGADIR, aged 26 of Ottawa, has been charged with one count of possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000. 

Both the accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 13, 2025.

5Kg Meth Bust – Names Released

Almost five kilograms of crystal meth was seized during the Super Bowl RIDE line.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025 members of RIDE were conducting a RIDE checkpoint in the area of Consumers Drive and Garden Street in Whitby. The suspects entered the checkpoint in a black Volkswagen SUV and spoke with officers who detected an odour of cannabis. A search was conducted under the Cannabis Control Act, resulting in the seizure of almost five kilograms of crystal meth.  

Darren SIMPSON, age 31, of Whitby is charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2 – cocaine; crystal meth.

Adam PERSAUD, age 34, of Oshawa is charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – crystal meth; Operate Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available and Operate Motor vehicle with Liquor Readily Available.

They were both held for a bail hearing.

(Huronia West, ON) – Members from the Huronia West Major Crime and Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized a firearm, approximately 905 grams of illicit substances, and have charged four individuals.

On February 5, 2025, at approximately 9:36 a.m., officers began arresting individuals following a lengthy investigation, that began in October 2024. The investigation remains ongoing, and the following were charged: 

Kamba TABAN, a 31-year-old of Innisfil, was charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)

–      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

Kenneth FINLAYSON – Drug & Weapons Charges

(Long Lake 58 First Nation, ON) – An investigation led by the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Greenstone OPP Detachment, has resulted in charges against one individual.

On February 5th, 2025, shortly after 1:00p.m., uniformed members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Beaver Street in Long Lake 58 First Nation. The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a firearm and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Kenneth FINLAYSON, 30-years-old of Long Lake 58 First Nation, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code of Canada:

–      Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

–      Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

The accused was remanded into custody and later released; they are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on February 19, 2025.

Search Warrants Executed at Two Midland Locations

As a result of an ongoing investigation by members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) attached to the Southern Georgian Bay, Huronia West and Collingwood OPP Detachments assisted by uniform members and OPP Central Region Canine (K-9), search warrants were executed at two separate locations in the Town of Midland on the morning of February 6, 2025.

As a result, numerous stolen items along with a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine were recovered and the following individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to this investigation.

Kyle VARTIAINEN 33 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)

And Further With

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

Peter Alfred NORMAN 40 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Theft Under $5000

Jade Marjorie BRIDEAU-PARTON 29 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

These accused persons have been released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on March 20, 2025.

Also charged in connection to this investigation is Kathleen HUNT 33 years of Leamington who was arrested on November 19, 2024, on the following charges relating to this investigation and further related investigations.

  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime
  • Break & Enter a place and steal a firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (three counts)
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Forgery (two counts)
  • Use, deals, acts on forged document (two counts)

And Further arrested and charged on February 6, 2025 with the offences of

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime (two counts)

$362,000 Fentanyl Bust – Names Released

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)– OPP seize more than 2,300 grams of illicit drugs, with an estimated street value exceeding $460,000.

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Frobel Drive in City of Elliot Lake.

As a result of the warrant being executed, police seized:

  • over 900 grams      Cocaine                           over $ 92,000
  • over 85 grams        Methamphetamine          over $ 8,500

Also seized was $105 in Canadian currency along with packaging, cutting and cooking materials, digital scale, vacuum sealer, blender, food coloring, a canister of pepper spray.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.        

Fallon DEKEYSTER, 39 years old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Methamphetamine
  • Produce a Schedule I substance -Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Kimberly LEWIS, 51 years old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) – three counts

Dylan MCGREGOR, 32 years old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Methamphetamine

All three accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on February 7, 2025, and were remanded into custody.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) unit, arrested three individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday February 5, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU, along with ROPE located an individual in the city of Peterborough believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers observed the vehicle they were in, enter a parking area of a business located on Lansdowne Street. Officers approached the vehicle taking three individuals into custody. Upon a search of the vehicle, a handgun and ammunition were located.

A warrant was executed at the residence of the driver of the vehicle where a person wanted out of Northumberland was located and arrested. As well at this location, officers located a shotgun as well as a prohibited rifle and ammunition.

Wallace GROVES (age 42) of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Other Drugs

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

·      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a firearm (two counts)

2 Arrested In Drug Bust

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A drug-related search warrant executed in Kapuskasing has resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of approximately $31,000 in cash and $4,000 worth of drugs.

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the James Bay Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with assistance from the Northeast Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence on Byng Avenue.

During the investigation, officers arrested two individuals and seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone, and hydromorphone, with an estimated street value of $4,000. Police also seized an expandable baton, digital scales, packaging materials, and approximately $31,000 in Canadian currency. 

Marcel LAFONTAINE, 49 years-of-age of Kapuskasing, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on February 7, 2025.

Richard TREMBLAY, 61 years-of-age of Kapuskasing, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Red Lake OPP CSCU and members of the Dryden OPP detachment has led to charges being laid against two individuals.

On February 5, 2025, just before 4:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed on a residence on Mary Avenue in City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, as well as over $51,000 in Canadian currency and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Alicia SKY, 35-years-old of Dryden, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Additionally, a 17-year-old, of Toronto, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of recognizance

The accused individuals have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Dryden on February 7, 2025.

1.5 Kg Fentanyl Bust

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – A Peterborough resident is facing drug-related charges following a joint investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Peterborough Police Service (PPS).

In the summer of 2024, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and PPS began an investigation into drug trafficking activity throughout Peterborough and the surrounding area.

On January 28, 2025, five search warrants were executed in Peterborough, Durham Region and York Region by members from OPP OCEB, Peterborough OPP, OPP Community Street Crime Units in City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough County and Northumberland County, as well as PPS Emergency Response Team.

As a result, the investigative team seized the following items:

  •         Approx. 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl
  •         Approx. 1.6 kilograms of suspected cocaine
  •         30 oxycodone tablets
  •         More than $5,000 in Canadian currency
  •         Eight cell phones
  •         Digital scales
  •         One laptop

Tirath ODEA, age 26 of Peterborough, has been charged with the following six offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:

  •         Possession of property obtained by crime
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl – two counts
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – other opioid

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 10, 2025.

Fentanyl Bust – Names Released

(SUDBURY, ON) – Two Greater Toronto Area (GTA) residents are facing a total of 43 firearm and drug-related charges after a drug trafficking investigation in Sudbury.

In October 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) in Sudbury began an investigation into drug trafficking activity spanning various communities, including Sudbury, Parry Sound and Manitoulin Island.

On January 8, 2025, members from OPP OCEB, OPP Provincial Guns and Gang Enforcement Team, OPP Canine, OPP Highway Safety Division and the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) Emergency Response Unit and GSPS Canine conducted a vehicle stop with two occupants suspected of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, police executed two search warrants at a residence and storage locker in Toronto, seizing the following items:

  •         Five firearms with magazines and ammunition
  •         Approximately 850 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
  •         Approximately 750 grams of suspected fentanyl
  •         Approximately 73 grams of suspected cocaine
  •         500 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  •         Approximately $100,000 in Canadian currency
  •         Two prohibited devices
  •         One body armour vest
  •         Packaging materials

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $200,000.

Anthony Eric DALEY-WILLIAMS, age 33 of Toronto, has been charged with the following 25 offences under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

  •         Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – five counts

  •         Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – five counts

7kg Drug Bust – Details Relased

(Ottawa)—A month-long investigation has led to the arrest of one individual and the execution of search warrants at two residences in Ottawa South last week.

As a result, investigators from the Guns and Gangs Unit seized:

  • Over 7 kg of illicit drugs and precursors, including cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and oxycodone
  • .40 calibre handgun with extended magazines
  • Large quantity of ammunition

Stolen Snow Plow Ends With Charges

On January 28th 2025 at 3:05am Saugeen Shores Police were alerted that a snow plow that had been stolen from Owen Sound, ON was headed towards their jurisdiction. The vehicle was located by officers around 3:15am on Doll Sideroad in the Town of Port Elgin. A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle fled from police. The vehicle was not pursued.

The truck was then observed on County Road 3 and a tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle fled from police again despite the blizzard like conditions and headed on to Highway 21. The vehicle was soon abandoned and police began to track the suspects through the snow.

Two individuals were located and placed under arrest.

39-year-old of Owen Sound has been charged with:
-Flight from Peace Officer
-Dangerous operation
-Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
-Drive while under suspension
-Fail to stop for Police
-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

43-year old of Owen Sound has been charged with:
-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
-Possession of a Prohibited Device
-Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance

Drug & Weapons Bust

(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON) – The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged two individuals following an investigation involving firearms and drugs.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, members of the Haliburton Highlands and Kawartha Lakes OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), executed search warrants at locations on Highland Street in Haliburton and Pine Avenue in Haliburton on February 4, 2025. Firearms, ammunition, suspected drugs and cash were among items seized. Four people were arrested.

As a result, Shawn HARDING, 37 years-of-age, of Haliburton, has been charged with:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts

·        Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – two counts

·        Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm – two counts

·        Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

·        Possession property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Possession cannabis for the purpose of selling – two counts

The accused has been held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, Ontario.

And further, Amy HARMAN, 43 years-of-age, of Algonquin Highlands, has been charged with:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden Ontario at a later date.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged two people after a seizure of illegal drugs in Bancroft.

Earlier today (February 4, 2025), Street Crime Unit officers, assisted by members of the Bancroft Detachment, OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Bridge Street West. Four people were taken into custody, and two children were escorted to a safe location.

Investigators seized nearly 240-grams of suspected cocaine, over a gram of suspected methamphetamine, nearly 100-grams of suspected psilocybin and a quantity of hydromorphone pills. Officers also seized over $2000 in cash and a crossbow.

Ryan HOGAN, age 41 of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with a release order
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – three counts.

Emily GRAHAME, age 37 of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both of the accused were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on February 4, 2025.

The two other individuals taken into custody were released unconditionally.
