Abraham Aguirre-Soto Was Arrested

(Sharbot Lake, ON) Members of the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a collision on Highway 7 and McQuaid Road. A driver was arrested at the scene, after a collision with another vehicle sent the other driver to hospital with serious injuries.

 At approximately 12:00 pm on June 15, 2024, two vehicles were travelling west bound on Highway 7 and collided when one vehicle passed the other vehicle on the right shoulder, causing it to go into the ditch. The vehicle struck a rock face and rolled several times. The driver of that vehicle was transported to hospital by Ambulance with serious injuries.

Frontenac officers from the Sharbot Lake Detachment arrested the driver of the passing vehicle at the roadside, after speaking to witnesses that remained at the scene.

Abraham Aguirre-Soto, age 39, of Toronto was charged with the following offences.

·      Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

·      Resist Peace Officer

Central Frontenac Fire department assisted the Frontenac Paramedics at the scene. OPP Traffic Collision Investigation and OPP Reconstructionist attended, closing the highway for approximately nine hours.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Kingston, on August 6, 2024.

Awad KHAN – Attempt Murder, Weapons, Ect.

(TEMISKAMING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in connection with an on-going investigation in Temiskaming.

Awad KHAN, 23 years-old, of Hamilton has been arrested and charged with 16 Criminal Code offences:

  • Attempt to commit murder using firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Resist peace officer
  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Assault peace officer
  • Firearm – use while committing offence
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Dangerous operation

He remains in custody, pending his next court appearance on March 12, 2024.

Ramandeep LEHAL – Impaired Driving

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with refusal as result of a single vehicle collision.

Earlier this morning, shortly after midnight, officers responded alongside Hastings Quinte EMS and Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue to the collision on Miller Road. Officers spoke with the driver and a demand for an approved screening device was made. As a result, the driver was arrested. Ramandeep LEHAL, age 43 from Prince Edward County, was charged with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·        Dangerous operation

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 20, 2024. The driver also had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

28 Year Old From Goderich Arrested #Catch&Release

(GODERICH, ON) – On February 28th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Town of Goderich.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 28-year-old individual from Goderich has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Mischief – Domestic,

–      Failure to Comply with Undertaking – (two counts),

–      Resist Peace Officer,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Driver Arrested After Ditching Vehicle & Landing On Railway Track

(HARTY, ON) – A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver has been charged for dangerous driving, after crossing a live lane into a ditch, and landing a railway track.

On March 4, 2024, shortly before 1:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call of a CMV in the ditch and obstructing a railway track along Highway 11 in Harty.

Police attended the scene, and an investigation revealed that the CMV had been travelling westbound on a clear and dry highway, when it crossed the east bound lane, into the east bound ditch and landed on the railway track. There were no injuries to either driver or passenger, and a call was placed to the Ontario Northland Rail to avoid a potential train collision.

As a result of the investigation, Parmveer GAHIR, 31 years of age of Brampton, was charged with the criminal offence of dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 18, 2024 in Kapuskasing.

Joshua TURNER Facing Numerous Charges

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual prohibited from driving is facing several driving-related charges following an investigation into stunt driving on 1st Concession Road STR.

At approximately 2:28 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment noticed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on 1st Concession Road STR in Courtland, Norfolk County, travelling at more than 150 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

After the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped away, later leaving the road. The driver then fled on foot from the scene. No injuries were reported.

Shortly after, patrolling officers found the driver at a nearby location and took them into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 20-year-old Joshua TURNER of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Flight from Peace Officer,
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed,
  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted speed limit,
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Carter VINNAI – Arrested After Spike Strip Deployed & Vehicle Fire

(MARATHON, ON) – Two individuals are facing charges after fleeing from police.

On February 24, 2024, just after 2:00 a.m., members of the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 17 east of Marathon after observing a traffic violation. After making initial contact, the vehicle fled from officers along Highway 17.

Members of the Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) overread and attempted to initiate a subsequent traffic stop on Highway 17 but were unsuccessful. Officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device; however, the vehicle continued travelling along Highway 17.

Officers later located the vehicle engulfed in flames. The two suspects fled into the nearby bush. Due to the fire, the highway was closed for a period of time.

A short time later, officers located the individuals and subsequently placed them under arrest.

As a result, Carter VINNAI, 18-years-old, of Tillsonburg, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

·        Dangerous Operation

·        Flight From Peace Officer

·        Obstruct Peace Officer – two counts

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been arrested and charged under the CC with Obstruct Peace Officer.

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Marathon at a later date.
