Shawn MILLER Facing Numerous Charges

(PAPINEAU-CAMERON, ON) – A person wanted in connection with several criminal offences committed in December 2024 has been arrested by the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Papineau-Cameron Township.

With the assistance of specialized OPP units – including the North Bay Criminal Investigation Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS), Northeast Regional Support Team, and Critical Incident Command (CIC) – officers executed a warrant and arrested the individual without incident.

Shawn MILLER, 52 years-of-age of Mattawa, is facing the following charges:

·        Pointing a firearm

·        Reckless discharge of a firearm

·        Possess firearm contrary to prohibition order – three counts

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Careless storage of firearm

·        Assault with a weapon – spousal

·        Assault – spousal – two counts

·        Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal

·        Uttering threats – damage or injure animal

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Failure to comply with release order – two counts

·        Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid

·        Failure to attend court after having appeared

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on May 24, 2025.

Austin LLOYD Facing Numerous Charges Following Firearm Incident

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following an incident involving a firearm in Trenton.

On May 19, 2025 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Officers with the Quinte West OPP and OPP Canine Unit responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Trenton Street, Quinte West. Police received information that an individual had entered a residence and assaulted the occupants brandishing a firearm. Only minor injuries were sustained in this incident.

An investigation conducted by Quinte West OPP and the Quinte West Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) led to the arrest of a 29-year-old from Quinte West on May 23, 2025.

Austin LLOYD, 29-years-old, from Quinte West, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Pointing a Firearm x2
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Assault with a Weapon x2
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm x2
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  •  Possession of Weapon for dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order x2
  • Assault

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Kalie EKOMIAK Arrested – Assault & Harassment

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 21, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person after numerous complaints to police regarding threatening phone calls. 

At approximately 10:15 a.m. police received complaints regarding multiple threatening phone calls placed by a known person to a school, daycare and residence. Police ensured the safety of all recipients and facilities and located the caller a short time later on Hillside Drive South. The caller was extremely confrontation, uncooperative, and assaultive with police during the arrest.

Kalie EKOMIAK, 35-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Assault a Peace Officer

·      Criminal Harassment – repeatedly communicate

·      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts, or interferes, with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 10, 2025.

Assault & Drunk Driving – Albert ROSSI Arrested

 (SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Investigation results in charges for individual from Southwest Middlesex.

On May 11, 2025, at 4:01 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on Thames Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of an after-the-fact assault between two individuals, resulting from a traffic complaint.

As a result of the investigation, police located an involved individual at a nearby residence, at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

Albert ROSSI, a 38-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 17, 2025.

Rinelle TAYLOR Arrested For Assault

(KENORA, ON) – On Saturday, May 3, 2025, shortly before 5:00p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault in a parking lot on Park Street.

Officers quickly located the victim nearby, in front of a local store on Park Street, who sustained minor injuries from the assault

Through investigation, officers identified and located the suspect, who was arrested and charged accordingly.

As a result of the investigation, Rinelle TAYLOR, 31-years-old of Kenora, Ontario, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Assault

The accused was held for Bail and remanded into custody. She will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Assault & Forcible Confinement #WaitInTheTruck

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On April 25th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of South Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 54-year-old individual from South Huron has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Forcible Confinement.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 26th, 2025.

One Dead – One Charged With Assault

(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed that a death in the Odessa area of Loyalist Township did not involve foul play.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, officers were called to a residence on Potter Drive where a 30-year-old woman had been found deceased. A postmortem examination found no indication of foul play.

One person was arrested May 2, 2025, in Napanee in relation to injuries the deceased had suffered in prior incidents. The deceased’s vehicle has also been recovered. 

Kyle ST. LOUIS, age 32 of North Bay, has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused, who also has outstanding arrest warrants in another jurisdiction, was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear for a virtual bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on May 5, 2025.

Assault & Trafficking – Evan SARAZIN

(ELGIN, ON) – Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious head-on collision on Highway 15 which sent both drivers to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The investigation is still ongoing, and numerous charges have been laid against one of the passengers.

On Friday, May 2, 2025, at noon, multiple reports of a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 15 near the village of Elgin were received. Members of Leeds OPP attended the scene of the crash and determined an initial vehicle had two adult occupants, whereas the other vehicle had two adult occupants and one infant. With the assistance of the Rideau Lakes Fire Department and Leeds and Grenville Paramedic Services, the two drivers were transported to a regional trauma centre for reported life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, all three passengers did not sustain any substantial injuries.

The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit, OPP Reconstructionists, and OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are currently assisting with the investigation.

Both drivers are in critical but stable condition and remain in hospital.

The passenger of the initial vehicle refused to provide their identity following a legal demand. During a vehicle search, members of Leeds OPP located a knife, approximately eight grams of suspected cocaine, and other items often related to drugs.

As a result of the investigation, 39 year-old Evan SARAZIN of Ottawa is charged with:

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on June 13, 2025.

The investigation is ongoing, and driving-related charges are pending for the driver of the initial vehicle as a result of the collision.

Jesse NEWELL Assaut & Threats

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and have arrested and charged an individual following several weapons calls in Kenora.

On April 30, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Kenora OPP were dispatched to three reports of weapons complaints in a store parking lot on Miikana Way. Police attended and located the individual, who was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse NEWELL, 38-years-old of Nanaimo, British Columbia has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Assault with a weapon – two counts

·        Mischief under $5,000

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts

·        Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – two counts

The accused was held for bail and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Kincardine – Assault With Weapon, Etc. #3Strikes

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 17, 2025, at approximately 5:56 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a patron refusing to leave a licensed establishment along Queen Street, Municipality of Kincardine.

Officers attended and took the individual into custody without incident. Further investigation led to a series of criminal charges.

Robert THOMPSON, 54-years-old, of the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, CC 267(a)
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order, CC 733.1(1)
  • Breach of Recognizance, CC 811
  • Fail to leave premises when directed, TPA 2(1)(b)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

Adriana SEMPLE – Assault

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged one person following an altercation.

On April 10, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in Hastings Highlands. One person was arrested at the scene.

Adriana SEMPLE, age 25 of Hastings Highlands, has been charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 6, 2025.
