Lexus MCKAY – Break & Enter, Assault With Weapon

(RED LAKE, ON) – A Red Lake resident is facing numerous weapons related charges.

On July 29,2024, and at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a cabin at Sportsman’s Lodge on Little Vermillion Lake.

Just before 2:00 p.m., and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and the Red Lake Detachment Crime Unit, one individual was safely arrested. The individual was later transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services for further assessment.

As a result, Lexus MCKAY, 25-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Reckless discharge of firearm – life or safety
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Pointing a Firearm

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Kenneth O’KEEFE – Threats, Assault, Etc.

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – An Elliot Lake driver was charged after a dispute at a residence on Washington Crescent.

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to the residence regarding a family dispute. The complainant reported being threatened by a family member. That member then smashed into the complainant’s vehicle when departing in a green pickup truck. Police stopped the pickup truck a short time after on Hirshhorn Avenue. The driver was spoken to who’s breath emanated a strong odour of alcoholic beverage and exhibited signs of impairment. The driver was irate and very belligerent, uncooperative with police, and consequently arrested after refusing to comply with demands.

Kenneth O’KEEFE, 57-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Drive commercial motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 12, 2024.

More Abuse #WaitInTheTruck

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment, has charged an individual following an intimate partner violence investigation.

On July 22, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., members of the Elgin OPP were dispatched to a residence in the Municipality of Central Elgin for a disturbance.

As a result, a 59-year-old from Sarnia was charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle

No life-threatening injuries were reported by the victim.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas at a later date.

More Domestic Violence #WaitInTheTruck

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 19, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in the Municipality of Kincardine and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old from the Municipality of Kincardine has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

–      Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at a later date. 

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.

Shayne HAYNER Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)– Erratic driver on Highway 108 arrested.

On July 18, 2024, shortly after 6:15 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple traffic complaints of a possible impaired driver that was operating a pick-up truck and driving erratically and was unable to maintain its lane and speed on Highway 108 in the City of Elliot Lake.

Members of the public reported the suspect vehicle had stopped on the Highway, did a burn out and had almost ditched the pick-up truck several times.

Shortly after 6:45 p.m., police located the parked pick-up truck on Highway 108 near Depot Lake. Police spoke to the driver and determined alcohol had been consumed. A subsequent arrest was made, and the driver was transported to Blind River detachment for further testing. While at detachment the driver refused to provide a breath sample.

Police received another call for service related to the driver who earlier had stolen a puppy and several bottles of alcoholic beverages from this complainant’s residence. Once the driver was processed the puppy was returned to the owner in good health.

As a result, Shayne HAYNER, 29 years-of-age from Bruce Mines was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Failure or Refusal to comply with demand
  • Theft under $5000 (two counts)
  • Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 14, 2024.

The pick-up truck was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Douglas BEST – Assault

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an incident at a Perth pub which resulted in one person being taken to hospital.

Officers responded to the location on Foster Street around 12:45 a.m. this morning (July 18, 2024), where a large group of people was gathered outside, and one male was found lying on the ground.

The injured 33-year-old male was transported to hospital by Lanark County Paramedic Service with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas BEST, age 58 of Tay Valley Township, was charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 12, 2024.

Another person, arrested at the scene for interfering with the investigation, was released without charges.

The investigation is continuing.

Kieren BOLDUC – Assault & Threats

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with numerous offences. 

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Ignace OPP Detachment responded to an incident at a residence on Spruce Street, in the Township of Ignace.

As a result of the investigation, Kieren BOLDUC, an 18-year-old Ignace resident has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Adult Failure to comply with an undertaking – two counts

·        Adult Assault a Peace officer – two counts

·        Adult Resist Peace officer – two counts

·        Adult Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden at a later date.

Andrew WYKURZ – Assault, Hit & Run

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have laid several charges against an individual from the Ottawa area after responding to a fail to remain collision on Highway 417.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on July 12, OPP members responded to two vehicle collision on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s East end. One of the individuals involved in the collision became angry and struck the other driver’s vehicle with a large object, breaking the taillight. That same individual then fled the scene. 

OPP members later located the vehicle and driver. Andrew WYKURZ, 61 years of age has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Failure to Stop after an Accident
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Assault with a Weapon

Wykurz is set to appear in a Provincial Court of Justice on August 30th, 2024

Kevin LEE – Assault

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)– Thieves attempt to steal an air conditioner from an electronics recycling bin at a business on Kilborn Way in the City of Elliot Lake.

On July 12, 2024, shortly before 7:00 p.m., a business owner attended their business on Kilborn Way with a friend. Once on the property they observed an All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) approaching them with two suspects on board carrying an air conditioning unit. The business owner blocked the ATV from leaving the property with their pick-up truck they were in.

Words were exchanged and one of the suspects who is known to police assaulted the owner’s friend, punched the pick-up truck’s mirror while fleeing the scene on the ATV and may have been possibly impaired by drug. Police reviewed the business video footage and shortly after 8:15 p.m., located the suspect ATV at a residence on Chalmers Cresent. The driver was subsequently arrested outside that residence and transported to Elliot Lake detachment for further testing and once at there the accused refused to comply with the Drug Recognition Expert’s demand.

The owner of the ATV was later advised their ATV was impounded for 45 days. 

As a result, the driver Kevin LEE, 51 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Theft under $5000
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Failure or Refusal to comply with demand
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)
  • Drive non-passenger ATV with a passenger

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

Raymond LENDRUM – Assault

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- One person charged after physical altercation.

On July 6, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River.  

Investigation determined the tenant and the complainant had been consuming alcohol when an altercation took place resulting in the complainant receiving a punch in the face.   

As a result, Raymond LENDRUM, 61 years-of-age from Blind River was charged with: Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 8, 2024.

Dwayne CLODD – Assault With Weapon


(GRAVENHURST, ON) – 
Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a local man with firearms offences after an altercation over the weekend.

On July 6, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to reports of a dispute at a local licensed establishment that escalated to an allegation that threats were made. Officers located the suspect nearby and conducted an investigation into the nature of the threats and subsequently arrested and charged 41-year-old Dwayne CLODD of Gravenhurst with the following offenses:

  • Assault with a Weapon CC 267(a)
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death CC 264.1(1)(a)
  • Firearm- Use while Committing Offence CC 85(1)(a)
  • Possession of Imitation Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88

The accused was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge for a bail hearing on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Daniel LESLIE – Assault With Weapon

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police safely apprehended a person after being called to a neighbour dispute on Forest Place. 

On July 2, 2024, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Forest Place in relation to a neighbour dispute. When officers attempted to speak to one of the people involved, the person threatened police with a large dagger style knife in hand. After effective de-escalation communication, police were able to safely apprehend the person. 

Daniel LESLIE, 62-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with: 

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Obstruct peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on                    August 15, 2024.

Horst KOKE – Assault With Weapon

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged one person after threats at a local hardware store.

On July 2, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. police responded to a knife related call at a hardware store on Kilborn Way. The complainant reported that a staff member was threatened by a customer with a knife. Nobody was injured and the customer left the store prior to police arrival.  

Horst KOKE, 78-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Carrying concealed weapon

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

Hit & Run & Assault – Two Arrested

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people after a report of a disturbance in the Town of Huntsville.   

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 12:10 a.m., Huntsville OPP officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a local business on Main Street East in the Town of Huntsville.   Upon arrival, officers located two victims that required medical attention after being assaulted. The accused’s left the scene prior to police arrival and a vehicle matching the description was located and stopped by Orillia OPP, leading to more charges for the driver.

As a result of the investigation, Johnathan THIBODEAU 33-years-old of Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm – x 2
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 6, 2024.

Nicholas TAYLOR 24-years-old of Selkirk was arrested and charged with: 

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

Jeffrey DOUGLASS – Assault & Threats

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A disturbance at Base 31 has resulted in one person facing criminal charges.

Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the facility on Kingsley Road just before 7:30 p.m. on June 30, 2024. An individual had been restrained by private security staff.

The investigation found that an intoxicated male had attempted to walk away from the event at that location. Security team members, concerned for the individual’s safety, offered to call a taxi to ensure he could get home safely. The male became confrontational and assaultive and was restrained.

Jeffrey DOUGLASS, age 59 of Prince Edward County, has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 24, 2024.
