SANGSTER Impaired According To DRE #YoDRE

(HURON EAST, ON) – A call to police to check on suspiciously parked vehicle last week has led to the arrest of an Exeter resident for Impaired Operation.

On August 16, 2021 at approximately 6:18 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a sedan that was parked in a suspicious manner on Coleman Street in Seaforth. 

Shortly after Huron OPP officers arrived on scene and had a chance to speak with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer made some observations that led him to believe the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was subsequently transported to the London OPP Detachment for testing.

A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluated the driver and it was deemed by the DRE the driver was Impaired by a Drug. 

Matthew SANGSTER, 31 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 27, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was also impounded.

Josephine St. Methamphetamine Bust

NORTH HURON, ON) – A resident of Hanover is facing a charge of trafficking methamphetamine following a vehicle stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) yesterday afternoon.

On August 23, 2021 at approximately 12:46 p.m. members of the Huron OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) stopped a motorcycle on Josephine Street in Wingham for having an unauthorized licence plate attached to the bike. 

Officers arrested the driver and a search incident to arrest revealed the driver was in possession of a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia consisting of a cell phone and cash. 

The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is $22,630.  

Donald MITCHELL, 37 years of age from Hanover has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 18, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Walkerton Pervert Alert – RANADIVE, Child Porn

(WALKERTON, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics Unit and South Bruce Detachment have arrested and charged a Walkerton resident following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

On August 24, 2021, police executed a search warrant at a home in Walkerton and seized several electronic devices. As a result of this investigation, Anish S. RANADIVE 27 year old, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of child pornography, as per section 163.1(4) – two counts
  • Make available child pornography, as per section 163.1 (3)

The accused is scheduled to appear in a bail hearing August 24, 2021.

Children are our most valuable and precious members of society. Many victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. Every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared, that child is re-victimized. Members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit will continue to pursue individuals who exploit children on the Internet.

Impaired Driver Crashes In Benmiller

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Bluewater resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following a single motor vehicle collision that took place last week in Benmiller.

On August 17, 2021 at approximately 11:23 p.m. Huron County Paramedic Services and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to Benmiller to investigate a crash involving a pickup truck that collided with a guard rail. 

Upon interacting with the driver the investigating officer observed signs that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was impaired. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. 

Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Hunter KENNEDY, 20 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 20, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was also impounded.

Impaired Motorcyclist Crashes Bike

(HURON EAST, ON) – A crash involving a motorcycle has led to an arrest and subsequent charges against a Huron East resident.

On Saturday, August 14, 2021 at approximately 5:51 p.m. Huron County Paramedic Services and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the crash scene located on Front Road east of Seaforth.

The driver of a motorbike sustained minor injuries after he lost control trying to make a pass and wiped out. While speaking with the driver of the motorbike the investigating officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was later transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. 

The driver supplied two samples of breath to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Daniel SHEAN, 61 years of age, from Huron East has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 27, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was also impounded.

32 Year Old Facing Impaired Charge

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday August 21, 2021 at approximately 4:55 p.m., officers with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), County of Brant Fire and Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services responded to a call for a collision involving four vehicles on Cockshutt Road in the County of Brant.

One vehicle occupant was transported by paramedics to a local hospital as a precaution. One person was arrested and transported to the Norfolk County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Shadow MOORE, 32 years-of-age from Brantford with:

·        Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs and

·        Failure to Comply with Undertaking.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

Collision Closed Hwy 8

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A two-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon west of Clinton sent three people to hospital all with serious injuries.

At approximately 2:53 p.m. on August 23, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a two-vehicle crash located on Huron Road (Highway 8) west of Kitchigami Road. 

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged sport utility vehicle and a sedan. The driver and passenger in the sport vehicle were both trapped in their vehicle and had to be freed. 

Both occupants from the sport utility vehicle and the driver of the sedan were transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Huron Road (Highway 8) was re-opened for travel at approximately midnight.

Novice Driver Facing Impaired Charge

(HOWICK, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week has resulted in police charging a Novice class driver with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).   

On Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 6:35 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Fordwich Line near Driftwood Beach. 

Minutes later Minto Fire Department, Bruce County Emergency Medical Services and Huron County OPP officers arrived on scene to find a compact vehicle in the ditch with extensive damage. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer had reason to believe the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result an approved screening device was used to test the driver and the driver registered a fail. 

An Intoxilizer Technician then conducted breath tests on the driver and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Colton LORMAND, 27 years of age, from Clifford has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus & Novice Driver BAC Above Zero.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle was impounded.

Pervert Alert: Jacob FRIESEN – Child Porn

(MALAHIDE TWP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics Unit and Elgin County Detachment have arrested and charged a Malahide Township resident following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

On August 17, 2021, police executed a search warrant at a home in Malahide Township and seized several electronic devices. As a result of this investigation, Jacob FRIESEN, 25-years-old, was arrested and charged with,

  • Two counts of possession of child pornography, as per section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code;
  • One count of make available child pornography, as per section 163.1 (3) of the Criminal code.

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.

26 Year Old Repeat Offender From Huron West Facing Impaired Charge

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 8:40 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road in Dunnville.

Joseph Christopher KILGOUR, 26-years-old of Huron West, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Fail To Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Careless Driving
  • Drive vehicle with Cannabis readily available

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

Suspended Driver Stuck On Beach Facing Impaired Charge

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On August 18, 2021 at approximately 9 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an impaired driver that had gotten their vehicle stuck on Sauble Beach. 

Police arrived on scene and the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Dalton LEWIS, 27 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 8, 2021.

Drug Bust – EMERSON

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 20, 2021 at approximately 7 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Division Street, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.  

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have arrested charged Cory-Lynne EMERSON, 37 years-of-age, from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

  • Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
  • Four counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Possession of a schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking

The accused was held pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 21, 2021.

44 Year Old From St. Marys Arrested

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On August 19, 2021, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver on Hope Street, East Zorra-Tavistock Township.

A traffic stop was conducted and a roadside test was administered. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Derek BOONSTRA, 44-years-old of St. Marys was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.

Head-on Motorcycle Collision

(ESSEX, ON) – On Thursday, August 19, 2021, at approximately 7:28 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex Detachment and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to a collision involving two motorcycles on County Road 50.

It was determined that the two motorcycles collided head-on.

As a result of the collision, both operators were transported to a local area hospital for treatment, one of the motorcycle operators was being treated for life-altering injuries.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are assisting with the investigation. County Road 50 was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.

The investigation is continuing and further updates will be provided when they become available.

18 Year Old Arrested In Listowel For Theft – SINCLAIR

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing charges in the Municipality of North Perth following thefts from vehicles.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on August 16, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a person entering unlocked vehicles in the area of Krotz Street in Listowel. Police attended the area and an investigation was initiated. 

Owen SINCLAIR, an 18-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–       Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle

–       Mischief – Obstructs, Interrupts or Interferes with the Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
