Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 24, 2021 at 4:16 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a serious collision along Highway 21 in Kincardine. Officers responded with Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and members of Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services to find a pick-up truck and a motorcycle were involved in the collision.

The passenger on the motorcycle, Sharon TISOR, 55-years-old, of Centre Wellington, was pronounced deceased.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – On August 26, 2021 at 2:45 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 4 and Concession 2 in Culross Township.

The driver of the commercial motor vehicle, Rajinder SANDHU, 25-years-old, of Brampton was pronounced deceased.

The occupants of the passenger vehicle, Sandra SCARROW, 46-years-old, of Huron East, and William STEWART, 56-years-old, of Culross Township were both pronounced deceased.

19 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(GRAND BEND, ON) – On August 29, 2021 at 1:20 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on Ontario Street north in Grand Bend.

Officers initiated a traffic stop and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. A roadside screening device was administered and the driver was arrested for impaired operation. The individual was transported to the Grand Bend OPP detachment where they provided two samples over the legal limit.

Jordan THOMAS, 19-years-old of London has been charged with

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 27, 2021.

Storm At Golf Course – One Deceased

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On August 28, 2021, at approximately 6:10 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment, along with the Town of Erin Fire Services, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Hydro One responded to report of an injured person at a golf course in the Town of Erin.

Severe weather conditions caused a tree and hydro lines to fall across an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the lot. The owner approached the vehicle and attempted to extinguish a small fire that had ignited, when he collapsed suddenly. 

William ELLIOTT, 59-years-old of Halton Hills was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Wellington County OPP, OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner: Ontario continue to investigate the incident.

A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Fatal Collision – 3 Deceased

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – On August 26, 2021 at 2:45 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 4 and Concession 2 in Culross Township.

Officers responded with members of Huron County OPP, South Bruce Rescue – Teeswater Station and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle involved in the collision.

Three people have been pronounced deceased.

Bruce County Road 4 and Concession 2 have been closed around the scene of the collision for the protection of emergency responders. Motorists are asked to respect the closure and avoid the incident area.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) unit are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

Hydro crews are at the scene as a hydro pole was knocked down in the collision.

Officer Assaulted – Amber COLEMAN Arrested After Foot Chase

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing a number of charges following a disturbance that took place in Clinton earlier this month.

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a person causing a disturbance on Huron Road in Clinton.

An OPP officer arrived on scene minutes later whereupon they located the accused in the middle of the road swinging a weapon in the direction of citizens and vehicles. The accused approached the officer and swung the weapon toward the officer narrowly missing the officer. 

Upon doing so the accused took off on foot and tried to flee. The accused was then chased on foot and eventually the accused was arrested and taken into custody.

Amber COLEMAN, 29 years of age, from Huron East has been charged with Assault a Peace Officer, Causing a Disturbance and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. 

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 27, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Rock Garden

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On August 23, 2021, at approximately 3:20 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Ariss Valley Road in Guelph-Eramsoa Township. It was reported that a vehicle was travelling eastbound in an erratic manner prior to it leaving the roadway and getting stuck in a rock garden.

Police located the vehicle and while interacting with the driver, determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, David WRIGHT, 46-years-old of Harriston has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on September 10, 2021.

Stabbing – 19 Year Old Arrested

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 25, 2021 at approximately 10 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a stabbing on Main Street in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

One person was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.    

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged Elias DIMOPOULOS, 19 years-of-age, from Etobicoke with Aggravated Assault.

The accused has been held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for August 26, 2021 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

Grey Bruce OPP, along with members of the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, continue to investigate the incident.

Clinton Break & Enter

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating an overnight break, enter and theft that took place in Clinton earlier this week.

Sometime between 6:00 p.m. on August 23, 2021 and 7:00 a.m. on August 24, 2021 a thief attended to an Albert Street business and forced entry into the premise through an exterior door. Once inside the thief stole about $2,000 worth of merchandise and equipment.

Some of the stolen items consisted of lotions, cosmetics and stereo equipment.

Huron County OPP would like to offer the following tips to help property owners protect their property.

·        Deter potential criminals. Ensure outside lights work and consider motion sensor lighting

·        Prevent break and enters. Keep garage doors and entry doors secure at all times

·        Lock doors and windows. Even if you’re going out for a short time. Install quality locks and a deadbolt on each outside door.

·        Avoid access by intruders. Lock your vehicles at all times. Remove or secure valuables out of sight, even when in the garage.

·        Store bicycles and other valuables in garages and sheds.

·        Trees, shrubs and fences can create hiding spots for criminals. Keep your landscaping groomed and limit privacy fencing.

·        Watch for suspicious people or activity in your neighbourhood. If you see something, say something! Don’t hesitate to call police if something seems out of place.

Two Charged After Incident Near Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Two residents of Guelph are facing criminal charges following an incident that took place at a Central Huron business earlier this month.

On August 14, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a tow facility located near Clinton to assist with an individual that wouldn’t leave the premises. Police arrived on scene and quickly determined the subject was trying to get his vehicle out of the tow facility impound. After failing to leave the business premises when directed to do so police attempted to arrest the subject. 

The subject failed to comply, resisted arrest and assaulted the arresting officer. Further, a second subject obstructed the arresting officer and interfered with the arrest. 

Both subjects were ultimately taken into custody and later released.

28-year-old David HERRON from Guelph is facing charges of Fail to Leave Premises When Directed, Assault Peace Officer, Resist Arrest and Fail to Comply with Recognizance.

27-year-old Logan LEGATE, also from Guelph, is facing a charge of Obstruct Peace Officer.

Both have since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for October 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Methamphetamine Bust In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 8, 2021 at 9:43 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter at a business along Millennium Way in Kincardine. Members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were tasked to assist the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

In the course of the investigation, members of the OPP CSCU, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and South Bruce OPP officers executed a Search Warrant at a property along South Street in Kincardine on August 25, 2021.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized a quantity of Methamphetamine and Oxycodone.

Police also seized offence related property including: a break-in tool and a stolen credit card.

James MERRITT, 26-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • 2 counts of Theft under $5,000
  • 2 counts of Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending the result of a bail hearing.

Brandice REYNOLDS, 31-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 27, 2021 to answer to the charge.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON, ON) – On August 22, 2021 just before 3:00 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 9 at Bruce Road 3, west of Walkerton, in the Municipality of Brockton. Officers responded with members of the Walkerton Fire Department and Bruce County Paramedic Service.

One of the involved drivers, Vivian HILMI, 56-years-old, of Scarborough, was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.

23 Year Old From Stratford Caught Going 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On August 20, 2021 at approximately 8:20 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 near Arthur. The officer observed a white sedan travelling westbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

As a result, Jonathan Keith SPACKMAN, 23-years-old of Stratford, has been charged with Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on September 15, 2021.

Their driver’s licence was suspended for a period of seven days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days as per statute.

Fatal Collision

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 24, 2021 at 4:16 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a serious collision along Highway 21 in Kincardine. Officers responded with Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and members of Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services to find a pick-up truck and a motorcycle were involved in the collision.

Two people on the motorcycle at the time of the crash were taken to a local hospital were the passenger was pronounced deceased. The driver was taken to a London hospital by Ornge air ambulance for treatment of serious injuries.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

Highway 21 was closed between Concession 7 and Concession 9 for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.
