Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Released

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) – On September 9, 2022, at 8:50 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision along Highway 21 in Kincardine Township.

The cyclist, 47-year-old Glendon BOALS of Kincardine, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

24 Year Old Arrested On London Road

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of Scarborough with several offences following a traffic stop in Bluewater last week.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at approximately 6:48 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR enforcement in Bluewater when an automobile was stopped for speeding on London Road.

Upon stopping the vehicle the driver failed to properly identify himself and provided a false name to the investigating officer. Ultimately the officer arrested the accused for obstruct and the driver was taken into custody. A search incident to arrest also revealed the accused to be in possession of a flick knife. 

Justin RAMROOP, 24 years of age from Scarborough has been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer, Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. The accused was also charged with several traffic related offences. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Fordwich

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a recent traffic stop in Fordwich.

On Saturday, August 27, 2022 at approximately 9:18 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer was stationed at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in Fordwich when he observed a vehicle stop and turn away from the checkpoint. The officer proceeded to follow the vehicle to a residence located on Edward Street and had an opportunity to speak with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol thus a roadside screening test was conducted. The test was completed and the driver registered a fail. 

The accused was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Timothy COOPER, 59 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

KING Arrested For Drunk Driving

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On September 10, 2022, at 5:17 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a request to assist a motorist stopped along Highway 9, in Carrick Township. Officers attended with members of Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Roy KING, 23-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing in criminal court as required to answer to the charges.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Assault In Palmerston – Suspects At Large

(PALMERSTON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for the public’s help as it investigates an assault that occurred in Palmerston  

On September 10, 2022, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of an assault that had occurred in front of a residence on Victoria Street, Palmerston. Initial reports indicated that there was a verbal altercation in the parking lot of a business on Main Street, Palmerston between the victims and unknown persons in a vehicle who then followed the victims to their residence. A physical altercation ensued, and the driver of the involved vehicle assaulted the three adult victims with a noxious substance. 

The vehicle involved was described as a black, newer model, four-door Dodge Charger or Challenger with tinted windows and five occupants – four males and one female. The driver was described as being a Caucasian male, 25-35 years-old, tall, thin build with brown hair wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark coloured t-shirt and black shorts. The three other males were described as Caucasian, and the female was described as Caucasian with tattoos on her arms.

The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone in the area to review their video surveillance for footage of this vehicle.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Cross Lawn & Collision

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A St. Thomas resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following an incident that took place north of Bayfield recently.

On Saturday, August 27, 2022 at approximately 3:25 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call on Norma Street about the operator of a pickup truck that just drove onto the complainants lawn and struck a parked utility trailer. 

Officers arrived shortly thereafter and located the suspect at the scene. Upon speaking with the suspect the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation and was taken into custody. 

The accused was subsequently transported to the Huron Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Austin BRIDLE, 25 years of age from St. Thomas has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 26, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Krystle DICKSON Arrested Again

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A resident of London is facing an Impaired Operation charge and a Drug Possession charge following a traffic stop that took place in Exeter a few weeks ago. 

On August 25, 2022 at approximately 11:44 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a gas station on Main Street North in Exeter to check on a possible impaired driver. 

Upon arrival officers located the driver sitting in her vehicle parked in the parking lot. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was completed and the driver performed poorly. The accused was promptly arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for additional testing. A search incident to arrest also revealed the driver to be in possession of suspected cocaine. 

A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) completed a series of tests on the driver and it was determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug. Further administrative checks revealed the driver was failing to comply with conditions of her probation order. 

Krystle DICKSON, 37 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, Failure to Comply with Demand and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. 

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 31, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

25 Year Old From ACW Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop investigation at the end of August. 

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at approximately 10:22 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was doing speed enforcement patrols on Huron Road near Seaforth when a compact car was stopped for speeding at a speed in excess of 60 km/h over the posted 80 km/h zone.

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol thus a roadside screening test was administered. The result of the roadside test was a fail thus the driver was placed under arrest for Operation While Impaired – Over 80. 

The accused was subsequently transported to the Huron Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

As a result, Douglas BRINDLEY, 25 years of age, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus and Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old Uninsured Drunk Driver Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing several driving related charges following a recent traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 26, 2022 at approximately 5:50 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on London Road when the officer observed a motor vehicle travelling southbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device measured the speed of the vehicle in excess of 50 km/h over the 90 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver was displaying some signs of alcohol consumption thus a roadside test was administered. The driver complied with the test and provided a sample that resulted in a fail. The accused was immediately placed under arrest for Over 80. 

The accused was subsequently transported to the Huron Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

Some additional investigation also revealed the motor vehicle involved was not insured, improperly plated and not fit for the roadway. 

Desmond KAUFMAN, 22 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Drive Motor Vehicle Perform a Stunt – Excessive Speed, Operate Unsafe Vehicle, Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 19, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision

(MEAFORD, ON) – On September 9, 2022, at 11:41 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision along Grey County Road 29 in the Municipality of Meaford.

Officers responded with members of the Intertownship Fire Department and Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a pick-up truck had left the roadway and collided with a tree.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are assisting the Grey Bruce OPP with this investigation.

Grey County Road 29 was closed around the collision scene for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.

The investigation is in its early stages.

Another Fatal Collision

The cyclist was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

Highway 21 is closed between Concession 7 and Concession 9 for the protection of emergency responders. 

The investigation is in its early stages.

Jeffrey DEJONG Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing criminal charges following a traffic stop investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in late August.

On Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at approximately 5:38 p.m. a Huron OPP officer received information about an unlicensed driver that was operating a pickup truck on North Line. The officer began patrolling for the driver and soon after the officer spotted the suspect vehicle on North Line. 

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol.  A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests.  

Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit. Upon further investigation officers learned the driver was currently prohibited from driving on two counts.  

Jeffrey DEJONG, 63 years of age from Huron East has been charged with: Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Operation While Prohibited – two counts. 

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 17, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

$337,750 Meth Bust In Chesley

(CHESLEY, ON) – On September 1, 2022, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence along 2nd Avenue southwest in Chesley. 

As a result of the execution of the warrant, police seized Blue Fentanyl, Yellow Fentanyl and Methamphetamine. The estimated combined street value of the seized controlled substances is $337,750.

Police also seized a large quantity of stolen property. The list of recovered items includes: a Ford F250 pick-up truck, a Ford Mustang, a Can-Am Renegade All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), a shotgun, a rifle, cell phones, a safe and ammunition. The value of the recovered stolen property is estimated to be $106,200.

The OPP CSCU is continuing to investigate along with members of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS).

16 Year Old Charged Following Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged after failing to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.  

On September 6, 2022, just after 8:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a collision on Elm Avenue North at Inkerman Street East in Listowel. Several people were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A 16-year-old resident of Arthur, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

–      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

–      Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

The accused was issued three Provincial Notices for the offences.

Drunk Driver Failed To Stop For RIDE Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on September 4, 2022, just before 9:00 p.m., on Maddison Street West, in West Perth, when a vehicle proceeded through the R.I.D.E. checkpoint without attempting to stop.

Officers conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device was used, and they were arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Jorge INIGUEZ MARTINEZ, 27, of Huron East, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused party was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
