David TRACEY – Impaired Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired related offences in the Municipality of West Perth.  

On November 5, 2022, at approximately 3:37p.m., Perth County OPP officers responded to a single Motor Vehicle collision on Road 155 in West Perth. No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

As a result, David TRACEY, 37, of West Perth, has been arrested and charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Shana MCINTOSH – Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged after trying to steal groceries items.  

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on November 5, 2022, just before 1:00 p.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Shana MCINTOSH, 39, of Huron East, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Jacob GALLANT-SMITH Has Vehicle Impounded For 45 Days

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On November 4, 2022, just before 9:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Line 42 and Road 145 in the Township of Perth East.  

The driver admitted to consuming an alcoholic beverage. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used, registering a warn result.

During the investigation, police were notified that the driver was a prohibited driver.

As a result, Jacob GALLANT-SMITH a 26-year-old of Stratford was charged with:

–      Operation While Prohibited – Legal Restriction from any other Act of Parliament of Provincial Law

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Jeremy WELSH Arrested Again

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police investigated a break and enter at a Bright Street East, North Perth address. One person was arrested and charged.

On November 4, 2022, at approximately 7:42 p.m., police responded to a break a enter after receiving a report of an unknown person within the gated supply yard.

Police arrived at the scene and arrested a male nearby.

As a result, Jeremy WELSH, 24 of North Perth has been charged with:

–      Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence

–       Mischief – destroys or damages property

–      Fail to comply with Probation Order

–      Possession Break In Instruments

36 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On November 2, 2022, just before 8:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Line 32 in the Municipality of West Perth.  

Upon speaking with a driver who entered the checkpoint, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Mallory LYONESS PAYNE, a 36-year-old resident of West Perth has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Miranda GRIEVE Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On November 3, 2022, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a business on Line 64 in the Township of Perth East, for the report of a stolen vehicle.  

The vehicle was taken some time between 6:00 p.m. on November 2, 2022, and 7:20 a.m. on November 3, 2022, from the business parking lot. The vehicle is described as a 2007 Silver Cadillac DTS.

On November 4, 2022, the vehicle was recovered at a residence on Krotz Street West in North Perth.

As a result, Miranda GRIEVE, 39-year-old resident of North Perth has been arrested and charged with:

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Officer Assaulted – 60 Year Old Arrested

(CHESLEY, ON) – On November 2, 2022, at 2:36 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along 1st Avenue south in Chesley. The driver refused to cooperate with the officer and fled the location. The vehicle struck the officer as he left.

Members of the West Grey Police Service (WGPS) and Grey Bruce OPP located the vehicle and took the driver into custody without incident.

As a result of the police investigation, Keith OSBORNE, 60-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford, was charged with:

  • Dangerous driving
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Two counts of Flight from Police

The accused will be in appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Stolen Vehicle Crash Triggers 1am Evacuation

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A stolen pickup truck was driven off the west end of Kitchigami Road and started on fire, causing damage to a nearby structure and the evacuation of several residences in the area just after 1:00 a.m. The incident is still under investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Just after 1:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to Kitchigami Road west of Bluewater Highway after receiving a report of a single vehicle crash down an embankment. Upon arrival officers located a Dodge pickup truck that had crashed into the trees and had started on fire. Officers arrived within several minutes and tried to extinguish the flames, however the high winds made matters worse, causing the truck and immediate area to continue burning. Several nearby residences were evacuated and three fire departments from Goderich, Central Huron and North Huron attended to battle the flames. Huron County EMS attended as well. One officer was treated for smoke inhalation and was later released from hospital.

The suspect driver managed to flee the scene prior to police arrival but was later located and arrested at approximately 8:30 a.m. The suspect remains in custody at this time. Roads have since reopened, and emergency crews have cleared the scene.

Cory HUDSON – Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Another driver charged with an impaired related offence in the Municipality of North Perth.

On November 3, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol when a vehicle stop was conducted on Line 57 in North Perth.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver was displaying signs of impairment and open alcohol was observed in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Cory HUDSON, 31, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

One Airlifted Following Collision

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a crash that took place just north of Hensall on London Road.

On November 04, 2022 at approximately 11:17 a.m. Huron OPP officers along with Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the crash scene located on London Road. Upon arrival first responders located a cyclist that had been injured as a result of a collision with a transport truck. 

The cyclist, a 61-year-old, from Bluewater was transported by land ambulance and later airlifted to a London hospital where their injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. London Road was closed for a period of time but is now reopened.

The investigating is ongoing and police would like to speak with any possible witnesses.

$120,000 Drug Bust – BAUER, LUCAS, MACLEOD, KING & MABON

(RIPLEY, ON) – On November 3, 2022, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and South Bruce OPP executed two search warrants in the village of Ripley. One was executed along Tain Street in Ripley and the other was executed along Queen Street in Ripley. 

As a result of the execution of the warrants, police seized Methamphetamine and Cocaine. The estimated combined street value of the seized controlled substances is $120,330.

Police also seized a large quantity of stolen property. The list of recovered items includes: a Ford Windstar van, a wood splitter, pellet rifles, cell phones, and scales. The value of the recovered stolen property is estimated to be more than $14,300.

Officers also seized a large quantity of Canadian currency.

Dennis BAUER, 73-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Mark LUCAS, 36-years-old, of Waterloo Region, was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Hannah MACLEOD, 26-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Kara KING, 22-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Jesse MABON, 40-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Alexander STOBBART Charged For Hit & Run

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after colliding with a construction worker and fleeing the scene.

On October 17, 2022, at approximately 6:16 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fail to remain collision on Road 111 in the Township of Perth East.

The investigation indicated that a driver drove on a closed road; driver became confrontational and sped off colliding with a construction worker and left the scene.  

Minor injuries were reported.

As a result, Alexander STOBBART, a 29-year-old resident of Stratford has been charged with:

–      Assault with a weapon

–      Failure to stop after accident

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

30 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident with Impaired Driving.

On October 27, 2022, just before 11:00 p.m., Perth OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

During the investigation, the officer noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Daniel MCKILLOP, 30, of Warwick Township, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (2 counts)

–      Failure to comply with undertaking

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

SCHAFFTER – Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On October 26, 2022, just before 4:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped and investigated a motor vehicle that was showing odd driving behavior on Argyle Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.   

As a result, Brian SCHAFFTER, 37, of Wasaga Beach, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opiod (other than heroin)

–      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

–      Use plate not authorized without insurance

–      Driver vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

LOOSER Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On October 23, 2022, just after 10:00 p.m., an officer from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 140 in the Municipality of North Perth.

When the officers arrived on scene, they observed the truck in a ditch. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  

Ryan LOOSER, 27-year-old of Atwood, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
