Choking/Strangling – 23 Year Old Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after a disturbance.

On December 28, 2022, at approximately 6:15 a.m., police responded to an assault after the fact that took place at a residence located on Napier Street in the Municipality of West Perth.

During the investigation, it was determined that the accused assaulted the victim. The victim sustained minor injuries.

A 23-year-old of West Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault Cause Bodily Harm- Choke, suffocate or strangle

–      Assault

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Another Spousal Assault

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident after responding to a domestic disturbance.  

On December 27, 2022, at approximately 12:14 p.m., police responded to a heated domestic disturbance on Main Street West in North Perth. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved had assaulted the other. The victim sustained minor injuries.  

As a result, a 40-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – Spousal

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Another Break & Enter

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a break and enter to a work truck parked at an address on Hamilton Court in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 23, 2022, at approximately 8:24 a.m., Perth County OPP responded to a report of a break and enter. At approximately 2:25 a.m. on December 23, 2022, unknown person(s) forced their way into a work truck and removed several items including a generator. Items stolen estimated at approximately $5,000.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask the public to report suspicious activity immediately, and remember to lock doors to vehicles, houses, garages, and sheds. Do not leave keys with vehicles, including ATVs. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

36 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On December 21, 2022, just before 8:00 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol was travelling on Road 122, in the Township of Perth East, when they conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, the officer determined the driver was impaired. They were arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Clint BUCHKO, 36, of London, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

25 Year Old Arrested For Spousal Assault With Weapon

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident after a domestic disturbance incident.  

On December 20, 2022, police began an investigation into a domestic incident in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved had assaulted the other. The victim sustained minor injuries.

A 25-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – spousal

–      Assault with a weapon – spousal

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision On Hwy 21

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS TWP, ON) – On December 29, 2022, at 11:56 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Highway 21 in Georgian Bluffs Township.

Officers responded to the scene with members of the Intertownship Fire Department and Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a vehicle had collided with a deer.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Their identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

The Grey Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team and the coroner’s office.

Highway 21 was closed at the scene for the protection of emergency responders. It has since re-opened for traffic.

40 Year Old From Goderich Arrested – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with refusing to comply with demand following an incident on December 28th at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Cove Road. 

Huron County OPP officers conducted a check on a parked vehicle and spoke to the driver who was found with open alcohol inside the vehicle. Police believed that the driver had been consuming alcohol, which led to the investigating officer attempting to conduct a roadside screening device test on the driver. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

Tracy LEWIS, 40 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 13th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

36 Year Old From Huron East Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on December 17th at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Morrison Line near Huron Street East. 

Huron County OPP officers were conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Morrison Line near Huron Street East in South Huron on December 17th. A traffic stop was initiated on a southbound vehicle which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Lisa GUNDERSON, 36 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 6th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

24 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested

(ASHFIELD COLBORNE WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Mount Forest resident with refusing to comply with demand following an incident on December 17th at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Nile Road near Lanesville Line. 

Huron County OPP received information from the public that a vehicle was stuck in a ditch on Nile Road. The investigating officer attended the location and observed the vehicle, which had just been towed out by a tow truck. The driver had started to drive away from the scene even though the vehicle had sustained heavy damage to the rear left tire. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver who was identified and found to be a suspended driver. Further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol, which led to the investigating officer attempting to conduct a roadside screening device test on the driver. The driver refused to provide a breath sample and was subsequently placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for processing. 

Darren VANOMMEN, 24 years of age from Mount Forest has been charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand. The accused was additionally charged with offences under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

31 Year Old From Goderich Arrested & Facing Numerous Charges

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on December 14th at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Bayfield Road. 

Huron County OPP officers set up a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Bayfield Road in the Municipality of Central Huron in the early morning hours of December 14th. During the R.I.D.E. check, a westbound vehicle entered the checkpoint, and a traffic stop was initiated which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Damien PHELAN, 31 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused was also charged with seven additional offences under the Cannabis Control Act (CCA), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and the Liquor License and Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 30th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

$100,000 Theft Of Cash – One Arrested

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit, Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and OPP Regional Support Team (RST) have arrested an individual in connection to the overnight residential break, enter, and theft of over $100,000 in Canadian currency that took place on November 11/12, 2022, in Goderich.

As a result of this ongoing investigation, a 41-year-old male from Goderich has been arrested and charged with:

–      Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime – two counts

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – two counts

–      Breach of Probation – two counts

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Investigators believe that the accused did not act alone in this crime and that other members of the community still have information that should be brought forward to aid in the investigation.

Police are still asking for the public’s assistance should they observe suspicious activity involving large Canadian bills.

Branden NEEB Arrested Again – Arson, Assault, Theft, Drugs, Etc.

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – A Lucan resident is in custody following a series of incidents in Middlesex and Huron Counties last week.

Between December 12 and December 15, the accused was involved in a serious collision with a member of the public, rammed two police cruisers in an effort to flee custody and is alleged to have been involved in the theft of multiple vehicles throughout the counties of Huron and Middlesex.

On December 15, 2022, at approximately 4:58 p.m., members of Middlesex and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the Elgin-Middlesex and Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Units (CSCU), safely brought an individual into custody. 

Branden NEEB, 25-years-old, has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon (two counts)
  • Dangerous operation (two counts)
  • Failure to stop after accident (two counts)
  • Flight from peace officer (two counts)
  • Operation While Prohibited (two counts)
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle (six counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada (two counts)
  • Arson – Damage to Property (two counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Operation while Impaired – Drugs
  • Possession of a schedule I substance

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.

Jeremy WELSH Arrested Again – Theft, Break & Enter, Etc.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a North Perth resident after he was found in possession of stolen property.

On December 16, 2022, just before 11:00 p.m., Perth OPP officers responded to an Ellen Street address in the Municipality of North Perth for a suspicious person. It was reported that a male was removing multiple items from a wagon.

During the investigation, officers were made aware that the male was also connected to a break and enter that took place at a James Street address just prior to this incident. Some of the items that were recovered belonged to the owners of the Break and Enter.

As a result, Jeremy WELSH, 24, a resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

–      Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence

–      Theft Under $5000

–      Failure to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

Joseph POTTER – Theft, Stolen Property

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident with possession of stolen property.

On December 16, 2022, just after 3:30 a.m., Perth OPP officers stopped a bicycle on Barber Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.

The male was observed to be carrying a large box with LED lights, that were confirmed stolen from a business on Wallace Avenue North in Listowel.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph POTTER, 34, a resident of North Perth was charged with:

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000- in Canada

–      Theft Under $5000

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Eric WAGLER – Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On December 16, 2022, just after 12:30 a.m., an officer from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Perth Road 135 in the Township of Perth East.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was administered, the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Eric WAGLER, 39-year-old of Perth East, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
