Police had previously charged one person, and the driver of a pick-up truck that fled the scene has now been identified and arrested.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have towed vehicles in two separate speeding incidents over this past weekend.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on May 2 2020, a vehicle was stopped on Perth Line 86, just east of Listowel, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 135km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Michael BARTLETT, 42, of Milton, has been charged with:

Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed

On May 3 2020, another vehicle was stopped on Highway 23, south of Listowel, just before 5:00 p.m. This vehicle was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Tyson HESKETH, 18, of North Perth, has been charged with:

Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed

In both incidents, the vehicles were towed from the scene, and a seven day vehicle impoundment and seven day licence suspension have been initiated as per statute.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have impounded a vehicle after the driver was arrested in Listowel.

An OPP officer was patrolling in Listowel on May 2 2020, when they noticed an expired validation sticker on a vehicle licence plate, prompting a traffic stop on Wallace Avenue North. The vehicle quickly pulled into a private drive, where the driver exited the vehicle, and was identified. The driver was found to be prohibited from driving.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on June 29 2020 to answer to the charges. The vehicle was towed for the scene, and a 45 day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid numerous charges after receiving a call from the public about a suspicious person in the Municipality of West Perth.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 2020, police received a report of a suspicious person at a church on Perth Road 163. Upon arrival, police located the person asleep in the grass, near a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The licence plate attached to the motorcycle was determined to be stolen, and upon searching the motorcycle for documentation, police located a prohibited weapon.

Upon arrest, the accused was found in possession of methamphetamine, and stolen property (including credit cards, cheques, and a driver’s licence).

As a result, Charles William KOCHER, 36, of South Huron, has been charged with:

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On May 4, 2020 at 7:59 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a mischief to a property in the 700 block of Campbell Street in Lucknow. Sometime between the evening of May 2, 2020 and the afternoon of May 4, 2020, two windows were broken.

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On May 5, 2020 at 9:35 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious person at a property in the 1100 block of Queen Street in Kincardine. Officers arrived and arrested the suspicious person after a brief foot chase.

Arin VLCEK, 43-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for May 6, 2020.

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On April 29, 2020 at approximately 3:05 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing person from an address on Birmingham Street in Wellington North Township. Police were advised that the missing person was a client of Project Lifesaver and was wearing the GPS bracelet. The resident was last seen at 1:00 a.m. and suffers from dementia.

Uniform officers searched the area while utilizing the Project Lifesaver equipment and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) along with Wellington County OPP Canine were notified to assist.

Officers picked up a signal with the equipment and at 4:15 a.m. the missing person was located laying down on the ground in a parking lot and unable to get up. They were transported by ambulance to a local hospital as a precaution and later returned home.

Project Lifesaver Guelph Wellington assists caregivers and responds to the challenges of keeping loved ones safe when they wander due to Alzheimer’s, Autism, Dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment.

Participants wear a battery-operated bracelet that sends an FM radio signal 24 hours per day and volunteers from Victim Services Wellington visit each client once a month to change the battery.

When a caregiver tells their local police service that a client has gone missing, trained police officers will use the Project Lifesaver equipment to search for and locate the missing person. The average time it takes to find a missing person with Project Lifesaver is 30 minutes – 95 percent less time than without.

Project Lifesaver has 100 percent find rate.

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On May 1, 2020, at approximately 4:15 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two motorcycles and a pick-up truck on Wellington Road 19 at the Sixth Line of Centre Wellington Township.

Investigation revealed that two motorcycles were travelling eastbound followed by an eastbound pick-up truck when the collision occurred.

John BOTT, 65-years-old of Nichol Township was operating one of the motorcycles involved in the collision. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

A female motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The Wellington County OPP along with West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Perth East resident after an assault occurred over the weekend.

Police were called to an address on Line 39, in the Township of Perth East, just before 5:30 p.m. on May 2 2020, for two people who were having an argument. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved in the argument had been assaulted.

As a result, a 59 year old resident of Perth East has been arrested and charged with:

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on June 29 2020 to answer to the charges.

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 6, 2020 at 01:47 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on Glendon Dr. in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, where police soon learned that the driver was prohibited from driving.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Jesse COLLINS -age 38- of Middlesex Centre with:

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on July 13, 2020 to speak to the charges.

The OPP wants to remind the public that it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that they carry a valid and correct class of licence for the vehicle they are operating. (MEAFORD, ON) – On May 3, 2020 at 4:02 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing person. The 25-year-old male was last seen on May 2, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. leaving the family residence at Trowbridge Street West in Meaford on his BMX bicycle.

Emerson SPRUNG is described as approximately 182 cm (6′), weighing 79 kg (175lbs), slim build, blonde hair, wearing black cargo pants, a black leather jacket and blue shoes.

The OPP is asking residents to search their properties for a BMX bicycle (description unavailable at this time).

Members of the Grey County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A resident of Bluewater has been arrested and charged by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following a domestic assault investigation that took place late last night in Bluewater.

Last night shortly after 11:00 p.m. Huron OPP members responded to a London Road address to investigate an allegation of domestic assault.

Police arrived on scene and spoke with the victim in the matter. Police learned the victim had been assaulted by her partner and it was also learned the accused damaged property within the residence.

As a result the accused was taken into custody and charged.

A 55-year-old from Bluewater has been charged with Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Assault, Mischief & Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The accused remains in custody with a court date scheduled for May 7, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

(KINLOSS TWP, ON) – On May 2, 2020 at 3:26 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle along Bruce County Road 1 in Kinloss Township. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Victor PENNER, 32-years-old, of Kinloss Township was charged with Impaired Driving. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2020 to answer to the charge.

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On May 2, 2020 at 10:07 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along Havelock Street, Lucknow.

As a result of the stop, a 19-year-old Huron-Kinloss resident was given a ticket for Drive with Cannabis readily available.

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On April 29, 2020 at approximately 9:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a black pick-up truck being driven erratically at high rates of speed and passing unsafely on Highway 6 north of Arthur.

Police located the vehicle south of Arthur and observed it weaving into the oncoming lane with speeds varying between 150-160 km/h with poor road and visibility conditions. Officers conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Michael Kevin HOWE, 26-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Dangerous Operation, Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on June 2, 2020 to answer to the charges.
