Impaired Driver Arrested In Exeter – BEATTIE

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A traffic stop by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) late last night has resulted in criminal charges against a South Huron resident.

At approximately 11:37 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2020 a Huron OPP officer was patrolling in Exeter when he observed the driver of a sport utility vehicle operating his vehicle in an erratic manner on Main Street North. A traffic stop was initiated to check on the driver and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver to be under the influence of a drug.

A roadside Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation.

The driver was then transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). At the end of the evaluation the DRE determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug.

Justin BEATTIE, 38 years of age, from South Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation, Speeding & Drive Motor Vehicle No Licence. The accused has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

OPP Officer Arrested For Drunk Driving – VALIOTS

(WEST NIPISING, ON) – On May 10, 2020 at approximately 3:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17 in the Municipality of West Nipissing.

Officers located the vehicle stopped on Highway 17, just east of Sandy Falls Road. Investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol and was arrested.

Provincial Constable Jaak VALIOTS, a 23-year member serving at Temiskaming OPP Detachment was off duty at the time and has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The officer is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 21, 2020 in North Bay. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

This charge marks the 21st driver charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the Nipissing West Detachment area in 2020. In 2019, Nipissing West OPP charged 62 drivers.

Suspended Driver Caught Stunt Driving – Brody KING

(WEST PERTH, ON) – An Ingersoll resident is facing charges after a traffic stop on Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of West Perth.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on May 4 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Perth Road 164. A vehicle was observed to be speeding, and the radar showed the driver was travelling in excess of 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated, and while investigating, it was found that the driver was suspended from driving.

As a result, Brody KING, 28, of Ingersoll, has been charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and a seven day vehicle impoundment and a seven day licence suspension have been initiated as per statute.

$73,000 Drug Bust In Ripley – RUSSELL

(RIPLEY, ON) – On May 7, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and South Bruce OPP officers executed a Search Warrant at a property along James Street in Ripley.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized a quantity of Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Ketamine, Oxycodone, Psilocybin, Benzodiazepine, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), Dextroamphetamine, Synthetic Cathinones (Bath Salts), Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), Cannabis Marijuana, Cannabis Shatter and Cannabis Edibles. The estimated value of the seized controlled substances is $73,416.

Police also seized offence related property including a quantity of Canadian currency, digital scales, cell phones, debt lists, packaging material, a Savage Model 65 non-restricted rifle and a stolen Ruger Blackhawk 357 handgun.

17 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For Speeding

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a young person with racing a motor vehicle.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. on May 6 2020, police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 140km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. During the investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of more than one licence, which is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.

As a result, a 17 year old resident of Monkton has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Stunt

Possess more than one licence

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

MCWATCH, MCWATCH, POLLOCK & 17 Year Old Facing Trespass Charges

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged four more people for trespassing in the Municipality of North Perth.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on May 7 2020, police checked a property known for criminal activity, and found two motor vehicles and four people.

As a result, the following people have been charged with Enter Premises when Entry Prohibited, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act:

Roberto MCWATCH, 19, of Owen Sound

Tony MCWATCH, 21, of Wiarton

William POLLOCK, 18, of Owen Sound

A 17 year old resident of Owen Sound

Mischief On Line 36

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for witnesses after a mischief caused a small fire at a property on Line 36, in the Municipality of West Perth.

Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on May 4 2020, an unknown suspect drove by the residence in a loud car, and threw an object onto the property. The object then caused a small fire under a tree, causing minor damage. The West Perth Fire Department also responded to the incident. No one was injured as a result.

Missing Person Update – Human Remains Found

(MEAFORD, ON) – On May 3, 2020 at 4:02 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a missing person. The 25-year-old male was last seen on May 2, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. leaving the family residence at Trowbridge Street West in Meaford on his BMX bicycle.

On May 6, 2020, the OPP Canine Unit located human remains. A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the identity of the human remains and cause of death. One person has been arrested and remains in police custody at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and OPP Emergency Response Team under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Methamphetamine Bust – Shipley & Jackson

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On May 5, 2020 at 8:54 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a suspicious car behind a business at 6 & 21 Highway, Georgian Bluffs in Grey County.

OPP officers attended the scene and found two persons sleeping in the car. Stolen property was observed inside the car. The two occupants of the car were arrested and the vehicle was searched following their arrests. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside.

During the investigation officers located and recovered a stolen (white) Sport Utility Vehicle reported stolen to Grey Bruce OPP on April 29, 2020.

OPP have charged 23 year old, Luther Shipley from Owen Sound with the following offences,

Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle, section 12(1)(d) Highway Traffic Act

OPP have charged 20 year old, Robert Jackson from Owen Sound with the following offences,

Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, section 5(2) CDSA

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) CDSA

The accused were released on an Undertaking and are required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 16, 2020.

Michael Huehn Facing Sexual Assault, Threats & Weapon Charges

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On April 26, 2020 at 5:55 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a sexual assault occurrence involving a 31 year old victim.

OPP officers were assisted during the investigation by Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit.

On April 28, 2020 OPP officers arrested and charged 57 year old, Michael Huehn from Northern Bruce Peninsula with the following offences,

Sexual Assault, section 271 Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm, section 264.1(1)(a) CC

Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, section 88 CC

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on April 29, 2020.

During the investigation, Grey Bruce OPP Community Street Crime Unit entered into a property crime investigation involving the accused. The parallel investigation revealed the accused in possession of stolen property from numerous property locations in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

The accused has been charged with additional criminal charges,

5 counts of enter dwelling house to commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) CC

5 counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, section 355(b) CC

$720 In Toothbrushes Stolen – Photo Of Suspects Released

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On May 6, 2020 at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shoplifting complaint at a pharmacy on Main Street in Erin.

Investigation revealed that at 12:30 p.m. two individuals entered into the business and stole numerous electric toothbrushes from a display worth approximately $720.00. When the suspects were approached by a staff member, they fled out the back door and into an awaiting vehicle. The vehicle left the scene in an unknown direction.

The vehicle was described as a dark coloured sedan.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 – Middle Eastern or South Asian, male, approximately 5’8 in height, long hair tied back, beard and wearing a grey sweater.

Suspect 2 – Middle Eastern or South Asian, male, under 6’0 in height, short hair, beard and wearing an orange hoodie.

Suspect 3 – Unknown description of person driving the vehicle.

19 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For 7 Days

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 19-year-old from Richmond Hill had his licence seized and car impounded this morning after he was caught by police driving well over the speed limit.

On Thursday, May 7, 2020 at approximately 7:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Young’s Road when a sedan was observed travelling southbound at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the RADAR device and measured the speed of the target vehicle nearly 70 km/h over the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop ensued and the driver was subsequently charged. Gurhardeep SINGH, 19 years of age from Richmond Hill has been charged with Racing. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Court in Goderich on June 16, 2020 to answer to the charge. His driver’s licence was automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle was also impounded for a week.

Impaired Driver Arrested In Listowel – REIMER

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged another impaired driver.

Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer learned that the driver had consumed alcohol. An approved screening device was utilized and the driver produced a roadside sample of breath that resulted in a fail.

The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the North Perth OPP detachment for breath tests, where his blood alcohol concentration was determined to be above the legal limit.

As a result, Enrique REIMER, 40, of Perth East, has been charged with the following offences, contrary to the Criminal Code:

Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges. The vehicle involved was towed from the scene and a seven day impound was initiated as per statute.

24 Year Old Caught Going 145 in an 80

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On Thursday May 7, 2020, at approximately 2:32 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Parkway near Laird Road in Guelph. The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h.

24-year-old Cassandra CABELDU of Guelph has been charged with Stunt Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Offences Court on August 19, 2020. The driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
