Passed Out Behind Wheel – CUNNINGHAM

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On June 27, 2020 at 2:47 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a black car stopped on Allen Street in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The vehicle was running and the lights were on. The driver appeared to be sleeping or passed out behind the wheel. After numerous attempts to get the drivers attention, they finally woke up and spoke with the Officers.

The driver was displaying obvious signs of impairment and they were arrested for impaired driving by drug and transported to the Wiarton detachment.

A Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation with this driver and they failed.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Tyler CUNNINGHAM, 23 years-of-age from Georgian Bluffs, with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.

19 Year Old Caught Going 205 in an 80 – HEHAR

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at 7:46 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a white sports car that was travelling at excessive speeds southbound on Highway 6, near Greig Settlement Road, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

This car was clocked on RADAR travelling over 205 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit. This vehicle appeared to be racing with another black car.

Officers activated their cruiser emergency lights and attempted to stop these vehicle, but they failed to stop for police and continued driving in a very aggressive manner at high rates of speed.

Another police Officer assisted with this investigation and was able to stop one of the involved cars.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the 19 year old driver, Jashan HEHAR from Brampton, ON with the following offences:

Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, section 320.13(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Flight from peace officer, section 320.17 CC

Stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

This driver was issued a 7 day drivers licence suspension and the involved vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound, Ontario on October 1, 2020.

24 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80 – RODRIGUES

(NORTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 27, 2020 at 11:15 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a blue northbound car for excessive speed on Highway 6, near Limestone Ridge Road in North Bruce Peninsula.

This car was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Whitney RODRIGUES, 24 years-of-age from Scarborough, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

This driver was issued a summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and the vehicle that was being operated was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

18 Year Old Caught Going 145 in an 80 – HARRISON

(NORTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 26, 2020 at 8:01 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a black southbound car for excessive speed on Highway 6, near Pike Bay Road in North Bruce Peninsula.

This car was travelling over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Daniel HARRISON, 18 years-of-age from Milton, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

This driver was issued a summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and the vehicle that was being operated was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

Charges Following Collision – Methamphetamine A Factor – BENNETT

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On June 26, 2020 at 6:47 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision, involving two vehicles on Highway 10, near Southgate Road 24, in the Township of Southgate.

A black car, southbound on Highway 10, crossed the centre line and collided into a grey car, driving northbound. The driver of the black car was not injured but the other involved driver was transported to hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Southgate Fire Department and the Dufferin County Emergency Medical Services assisted officers at the scene.

After speaking with all of the involved parties, officers observed that the driver of the black car was displaying signs of impairment. A demand was made by officers for the Standard Field Sobriety Test at the roadside. The driver failed and they was arrested for impaired operation by drug and transported to the detachment for further tests by a Drug Recognition Expert.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Deryk BENNETT, 41 years-of-age, from Dundalk, ON with the following offences:

operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada

possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

careless driving, section 130(1) Highway Traffic Act

operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.

19 Year OId Fails To Stop For Police – 205 in an 80

Matthew HAKKERS – Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On June 25 2020, just before 3:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it travelled along Huron Road, Mitchell, in the Municipality of West Perth.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Matthew HAKKERS, 32, of Goderich, has been charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

Have Care or Control of Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Mitchell – MURRAY

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Police have laid an Assault Peace Officer charge after an arrest in West Perth.

While investigating another incident just after 7:00 p.m. on June 24 2020, a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a person violating a bail condition on St. David Street, Mitchell. This person was placed under arrest, and transported to the Perth County OPP detachment in Sebringville.

While being fingerprinted for the violation, the accused assaulted the investigating officer. The officer attended the hospital as a precaution and was released.

As a result, Sydney MURRAY, 24, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Failure to Comply with Undertaking (two counts)

Failure to Comply with Release Order

Assault a Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

One Airlifted Following Fall From Roof

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On June 25, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious workplace injury at a private residence on Sideroad 24, near the Hamlet of Cedar Valley. Initial reports indicated that a 30-year-old male from Erin had sustained serious injuries when he fell from a two story roof.

OPP as well as Erin Fire & Emergency Service and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Services attended and treated the patient. He was air lifted from the scene to a trauma centre hospital with serious injuries.

The Ministry of Labour (MOL) is investigating.

Stunt Driver Charged In Berkeley – STANISH

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On June 23, 2020 at 9:03 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a northbound (white) sport utility vehicle (suv) for excessive speed in the Village of Berkeley, in the Township of Chatsworth.

This suv was travelling over 100 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 50 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Sharon STANISH, 40 years-of-age from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

Suspended Driver Caught With Drugs – BUTT

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Two drivers are facing charges after both vehicles were pulled over at the same time in the Municipality of West Perth.

The incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m. on June 22 2020, on Perth Line 20, when a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed two vehicles travelling together, one in front of the other, a high rate of speed. Both vehicles stopped when the officer pulled them over. The investigation revealed that one of the drivers was suspended from driving, and cannabis was found near the driver.

One driver, a 20 year old from Oshawa, was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for

Speeding between 1-49 km/h over the posted speed limit

The second driver, Hameed Amad BUTT, 25, of Toronto, has been charged with:

James NICHOLSON Charged After Punching Out Teeth

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On June 24, 2020 at 7:59 p.m. officers from the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a victim that was located on Highway 6 & 10, walking near the OPP Detachment in the Township of Chatsworth, ON.

An argument had occurred between two people and then the accused struck the victim in the face several times, knocking out their teeth and causing a bloody nose.

The victim was transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged James NICHOLSON, 48 years-of-age, from Chatsworth, ON with Assault causing bodily harm, section 267(b) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Assault, section 266 CC, from another previous incident involving these parties.

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice on June 25, 2020.

No Interlock Device Results In Charge For Melissa MORRISON

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On June 24, 2020 at 12:44 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a westbound (silver) car on Highway 6 & 21, on the Sunset Strip, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

This novice driver has a mandatory condition on their licence that requires them to always have an ignition interlock installed and operational in any motor vehicle that they are operating. There was no interlock device installed in this vehicle.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Melissa MORRISON, 36 years-of-age from Owen Sound, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 20, 2020.

This vehicle was towed and will be impounded for 45 days.

Three Weed Stores Busted

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On June 4, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) executed Cannabis Act search warrants on Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre in relation to three illicit cannabis store front locations.

As a result of the investigation, police have seized approximately $27,000 in Canadian currency, over $238,000 in tobacco products, approximately, $480,000 in cannabis related products, approximately $9,000 in electronics, one shotgun, a bulletproof vest and various items.

Police have charged the following individuals in relation to this investigation:

Darryl CHRISJOHN -age 48- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Assault a Peace Officer as per s.270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Resist Peace Officer as per s.129(a) of CC; and with

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the Cannabis Act.

Christopher NINHAM -age 18- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm as per s. 91(1) of the CC;

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s.10(2) of the CA; and with

Possession of a Schedule III Substance as per s. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA).

Edward ELIJAH – age 39- of London, ON with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s.10(2) of the CA; and with

Possession of a Schedule III Substance as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.

Alisson ABRAM-DELEARY -age 28- of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the CA.

Hunter NICHOLAS -age 21- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s.10(2) of the CA; and with

Possession of a Schedule III Substance as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.

Ryan GEORGE -age 34- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s.10(2) of the CA.

Lorenzo GEORGE -age 35- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the CA.

Asic CHRISJOHN -age 27- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the CA.

Daniel ELIJAH -age 30- of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the CA; and with

Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking as per s. 5(2) of the CDSA.

Police have charged a 15-year-old male, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act with:

Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling as per s. 10(2) of the CA and with

Possession of a Schedule III Substance as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.

All parties have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in a London Court room at a later date to speak to the charges. The investigation is on-going at this time.

The OPP continues to lead an enforcement strategy which includes other Ontario police services. This strategy will reflect actionable intelligence on illegal cannabis operations. The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, eliminate the illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as store fronts and online, as well as targeting the proceeds of crime and assets.

Side Of Road Dispute Ends With Charges

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Kitchener resident following a domestic violence investigation conducted by police this past weekend.

On Saturday, June 20, 2020 at approximately 6:15 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a side of the road domestic dispute that was taking place on Bissonette Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and a subsequent investigation revealed the accused and victim became involved in a heated argument. The accused pushed an object off of the roof of the vehicle that struck the victim causing an injury to the victim.

Further investigation revealed the accused dented and broke off parts of the victim’s car causing an estimated $5,000 in damages to the vehicle.

The accused was arrested on scene and was charged. A 30-year-old from Kitchener is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Domestic Mischief. He has since been released from custody with a court date later this summer.
