19 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge Following Collision

(KINLOSS TWP, ON) – On July 2, 2020 at 7:59 p.m. the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two vehicle collision in the 1400 block of Bruce County Road 1 in Kinloss Township. Officers arrived and found that one of the involved drivers had been drinking alcohol.

Tanner REID, 19-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 9, 2020 to answer to the charge.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON)Xinning YU, 25, of London, ON was travelling over 130km/h in a white car in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Muhammad QURESHI, 25, of Mississauga, ON was travelling over 140km/h in a grey car in a posted 80km/h zone.

Salim QURESHI, 54, of Mississauga, ON was travelling over 140km/h in a black sport utility vehicle in a posted 80 km/h zone.

(NORTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) Zunlan CHEN, 27, of Mississauga, ON was travelling over 130km/h in a black car in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Leonard BATES, 61, of London, ON was travelling over 130km/h in a car, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Azhar DEWJI, 27, of Toronto, ON was travelling over 130km/h in a blue car, in a posted 80 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

The Grey Bruce OPP want to remind motorists that speeding is one of the leading causes of death on our highways.

Stunt Driver On Hwy 21 Charged – EBY

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On June 30, 2020 at 8:04 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a black eastbound car for excessive speed on Highway 21, west of Springmount, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

This car was travelling over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, David EBY, 31 years-of-age from Owen Sound, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

This driver was issued a 7 day drivers licence suspension and the vehicle that was being operated was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

Homicide Investigation

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On July 1, 2020, approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an address on Poplar Place in the Township of Centre Wellington to check on the well-being of the occupant. Officers gained entry into the home and subsequently located a deceased male.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) along with OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services have entered into a death investigation. A post mortem examination confirmed that the male died as a result of homicide.

While the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, a male has been taken into custody. Police believe that this incident was isolated in nature, and a risk to public safety has not been identified.

Further updates to the investigation will be provided when they become available.

Driver Caught Going 130 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Wellington Road 22 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

Linda GUCCIARDI, 65-years-old of Chatsworth has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on September 16, 2020. The vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Part Of Trampoline Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – It seems as though thieves will steal just about anything and a recent theft in Exeter definitely supports that notion.

Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on June 27, 2020 and 9:00 a.m. on June 28, 2020 someone entered into the backyard of a Waterloo Street residence whereupon they proceeded to steal a trampoline mat and all the springs that go with it. The property owners woke up the next morning to find the frame sitting in the backyard and nothing more. Seems like a lot of work for a relatively low pay off but these thieves jumped at the chance to get themselves a used trampoline mat.

Huron OPP is hopeful to receive some tips from the public to help solve this rather unusual theft.

Cocaine Bust In Huron Park – BANDI

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 28-year-old from London has been charged with Possession of Cocaine following an arrest that took place in Huron Park over the weekend.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Algonquin Drive in Huron Park to check out a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival officers located a passenger sleeping in the vehicle. Some checks on the passenger revealed she had outstanding arrest warrants from Chatham-Kent.

The accused was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of suspected cocaine.

Reanna BANDI, 28 years of age from London has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Generator Stolen From Alfred Street In Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a break, enter and theft of a generator that took place in Wingham last week.

Sometime between 6:00 p.m. on June 23, 2020 and 10:00 a.m. on June 24, 2020 someone forced entry into a jobsite trailer located on Alfred Street West in Wingham. Once inside the trailer the thief stole a generator valued at nearly $1,500.

The generator is a red and black Honda EU2200 ITC ultra-quiet.

Drunk Driver Goes Over Cliff – TURCOTT

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 41-year-old from London is fortunate to have escaped injury following a crash that took place in Bayfield this past weekend.

At approximately 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to single motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle that went over the cliff at the end of Cameron Street near Tuyll Street.

Officers arrived on scene where they learned a sport utility drove through a barrier at the cliff’s edge, proceeded to go over the cliff and ultimately came to rest on the beach below.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of her breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of her samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Erin TURCOTT, 41 years of age, from London has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80) Plus. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Her licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and her vehicle has been towed and impounded.

21 Year Old Caught Going 107 in a 50

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Drivers, please pay attention to those speed limit signs. When you get stopped and you tell the officer you didn’t realize you were in a 50 km/h zone, be advised that excuse just isn’t going to cut it.

On Sunday, June 28, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrols on Main Street in Dashwood when he observed a westbound sedan speeding into town. A RADAR device was used to check on the speed of the vehicle and it was measured at 107 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and a 21-year-old driver from LaSalle was charged with Drive Motor Perform a Stunt – Excessive Speed. He will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on October 6, 2020 to answer to the charge.

His driver’s licence has been suspended and his motor vehicle has been impounded for a week.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Clinton – Hudson

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Huron County resident for possessing illegal drugs and failing to abide by a condition of a probation sentence following an incident that took place in Clinton last week.

Just before 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to an Albert Street residence to assist with removing an unwanted person from the residence.

The subject left the residence without incident however during the course of the investigation police searched the subject and found her to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl. Further, some checks revealed the accused was currently serving a probation sentence and was failing to comply with a condition of her release.

As a result, Ashley HUDSON, 29 years of age, of no fixed address has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 31, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.

Suspended Driver And Passenger Facing Charges

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at 1:13 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an orange sport utility vehicle (suv) that was driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 6, near Pike Bay Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula, ON.

Officers spoke to both the driver and the passenger of this vehicle. Further investigation revealed that this motor vehicle was a rental car and it was rented with false identification, leading to several charges for both of the involved individuals.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Edward BUSH, 46 years old from Kingston, Ontario with the following offences:

Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, section 355(b) Criminal Code of Canada (CC);

Driving while under suspension, section 53(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA);

Race a motor vehicle – Stunt – section 172(1) HTA;

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the passenger, Taylor BURGESS, 30 years old from Windsor, Ontario with the following offences:

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, section 355(b) CC;

Personation with intent to obtain property (identify fraud), section 403(1)(b) CC;

Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (identity fraud), section 403(1)(d) CC;

Possession of break in instruments, section 351(b) CC;

Both of the accused were released on an Undertaking and they are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 8, 2020.

17 Year Old Arrested For Refusing To Blow

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A young driver from Huron East will be making a trip to court later this summer after he refused to provide a breath sample this past weekend.

On June 28, 2020 at approximately 2:35 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a vehicle parked at a car wash located on Victoria Street in Clinton. The officer decided to check on the sobriety of the driver and as a part of the investigation a breath demand for the roadside screening test was made to the driver.

The driver was given multiple opportunities to provide a suitable sample of his breath, however he failed to do so. As a result he was placed under arrest for Refusal to Comply with a Demand.

A 17-year-old driver from Huron East has been charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Breath Demand. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Drunk Driver From Owen Sound Arrested

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On June 28, 2020 at 2:29 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at Highway 6 & 21, on the Sunset Strip in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The driver of a grey pick-up truck was stopped and failed a roadside screening device. They were transported to the Wiarton detachment for breath tests.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Richard BODNAR, 34 years-of-age from Owen Sound, with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 24, 2020.
