Pervert Alert – Sexual Assault, Child Pornography, Counselling Suicide, etc. – BROOK

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – In early July, 2020 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit commenced an investigation into a report of a series of historical sexual assaults and other sex-related offences that occurred in the Town of Erin and the Township of Centre Wellington over a seven year period between 2007 and 2014.

The victim at the time was a minor and the accused and the victim were known to each other.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit has charged 60-year-old Steven Bobbie BROOK of the Town of Erin with the following Criminal Code offences:

Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age

Invitation to Sexual Touching on a Person Under 16 Years of Age

Sexual Interference

Sexual Exploitation

Counselling Suicide

Administering Noxious Thing

Possession of Child Pornography

Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Person Under 14 Years of Age

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on September 29, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Update: Deceased Identified as Missing Man from Strathroy

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On July 21, 2020 at 8:42 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), attended a property off Centre Rd. just south of HWY 402, in the Municipality of Adelaide-Metcalfe, in relation to a sudden death investigation.

As a result of a joint investigation between members of the OPP and Strathroy Caradoc Police Services (SCPS), police have determined that foul play is not suspected.

The deceased has been identified as Kurtis Berg -age 23- of Strathroy Caradoc.

Mr. BERG had been reported missing to the Strathroy Caradoc Police Service and was last seen on June 23 in downtown Strathroy.

No further details will be made public in relation to this investigation.

22 Year Old Arrested After Refusing To Blow

(GODERICH & CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Morris-Turnberry resident is facing a criminal charge after he was stopped by police and refused to provide a roadside breath sample.

On Sunday, July 12, 2020 at approximately 7:11 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver that had just left a restaurant in Goderich.

Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and approximately 10 minutes later officers had located and stopped the vehicle south of Goderich.

While speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol, as well open alcohol was observed inside the vehicle. As such a roadside screening test was demanded of the driver. The driver ultimately refused to provide a suitable roadside sample to the officer and was arrested as a result.

Curtis RAYNARD, 22 years of age, from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand.

He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Charged – Stolen ATV Recovered – WILD

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing criminal charges and a date in court after police recovered a stolen All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) yesterday morning at a residence in Goderich.

On July 16, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an ATV that was stolen overnight from a drive shed located on Lucknow Line.

Through some investigation members from the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were able to track down the whereabouts of the stolen machine. On Tuesday, July 21, 2020 a search warrant was executed at a residence located on Cambria Road North and members of the CSCU were successful in recovering the stolen ATV valued at approximately $4,000.

Some checks on the accused revealed she was currently serving a probation sentence and was failing to comply with a condition of her sentence.

Katie WILD, 35 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 and three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hero Citizens Stop Wroxeter Drunk Driver – Driver Also Facing Assault Charge

(HOWICK, ON) – Some wild events in Wroxeter last Saturday night has led to a handful of criminal charges for a Wroxeter resident.

At approximately 10:37 p.m. on July 18, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) started receiving calls from concerned citizens in Wroxeter about a vehicle that was driving dangerously throughout the town. Some citizens managed to get the erratic driver stopped, however when the driver exited his vehicle he engaged in a physical altercation and assaulted one of the witnesses.

While this was taking place, the suspect’s vehicle was set into motion as the driver failed to put the vehicle into park. The vehicle ultimately went down a hill and collided with a hydro pole. The driver returned to his smashed up vehicle and was attempting to start the vehicle when he was approached by an off-duty police officer that went to investigate after hearing all the commotion.

The officer requested the male to wait in the vehicle until uniformed officers arrived on scene however the driver disobeyed those orders and walked away to a nearby apartment building. Uniformed officers arrived shortly thereafter whereupon they located and arrested the impaired driver.

The accused was transported to an OPP detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to an Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples were analyzed and they were found to be over the legal limit.

Pervert Alert Update – Additional Victim Comes Forward – Charge Laid

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing an additional historical offence after he was charged with Indecent Assault on a Female late last week by the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit.

In May of 2020, Huron County OPP arrested 61-year-old Cameron DOIG on historical sexual assault and other sex-related offences in connection with events that took place in Seaforth during the 1990’s when the accused was acting as a golf instructor and supervisor at a golf course.

Last week investigators met with an additional victim and commenced an investigation into an allegation that took place in the late 1970’s in Seaforth. As a result of the investigation, investigators have charged the accused with Indecent Assault on a Female.

Cameron DOIG, 61 years of age, from Huron East has been charged with one count of Indecent Assault on a Female. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

21 Year Old From Gorrie Facing Drunk Driving Charge After Hitting Hydro Pole

(HOWICK, ON) – A Gorrie resident will be making a trip to court later this summer to answer to some charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

At approximately 11:18 p.m. on July 15, 2020 Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Howick Fire responded to a crash involving a car that struck a hydro pole on Martin Street in Gorrie.

Fortunately none of the occupants sustained serious injuries however upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was exhibiting signs of impairment.

She was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to the Wellington North OPP Detachment for breath tests. She provided two samples to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit.

Sara GRANT, 21 years of age from Gorrie has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor and Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.

The accused has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Purse Stolen During Break And Enter

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On July 9, 2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter that occurred on July 3, 2020 at a residence on Concession 1 of Puslinch Township. The incident was reported after the fact because if wasn’t discovered until July 9, 2020.

Investigation revealed that sometime between approximately 9:15 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. on July 3, 2020, an unknown suspect entered into the residence through the open garage door and stole the victim’s purse that contained all of her identification, cash and credit cards. This theft occurred while the victim was out for a walk and her husband was working in the backyard.

This is a crime of opportunity. OPP encourage residents to keep their doors closed and locked even when at home and working outside.

Ipad Stolen During Break And Enter

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On July 9, 2020 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter that occurred at a residence on Whites Road in Palmerston in the Town of Minto.

Investigation revealed that sometime between July 8, 2020 at approximately 11:00 p.m. and July 9, 2020 at approximately 6:00 a.m. an unknown suspect gained entry in the main floor apartment thru an insecure window and stole an Apple Ipad Mini in a blue leather case.

Break And Enter At LCBO

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On July 13, 2020 at approximately 2:40 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm call at the LCBO located on Wellington Road 109 in the Town of Arthur.

Upon arrival police confirmed that the business had been broken into and determined that suspects gained entry thru the roof. A quantity of alcohol was stolen.

Wellington County OPP and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) continue to investigate.

Clandestine Synthetic Drug Lab Dismantled

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On July 16, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce CSCU, the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and uniform officers executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at an address on Wellington Road 32 near Highway 7.

During the execution of the search warrant, a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory was discovered within the residence. OPP specialty units including the Clandestine Laboratory Investigative Response Team, UCRT along with the assistance of the Guelph Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshall, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Hazardous Material Team dismantled the lab safely.

As a result of the search warrant, a quantity of illicit drugs in various stages of completeness including a bulk amount of finished product, trafficking materials and four firearms were seized. Stolen property was also located during the search.

July 18 – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a red mini-van on Highway 10, near Flesherton, in Grey Highlands that was travelling over 135 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Frishta HITAFAQ, 41 years-of-age, from Richmond Hill, ON.

All of these drivers were issued a provincial summons to attend court, a 7 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

39 Year Old From Stratford Caught Going 130 in an 80

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after they were speeding more than 50km/h over the limit in Perth East last week.

On July 16 2020, just after 1:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 34, in the Township of Perth East, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in an 80km/h limit zone. During the investigation, the driver was unable to produce their insurance card, and the vehicle only had one headlight.

As a result, Navaneethan NAVARATNAM, 39, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

Drive without Proper Headlights – motor vehicle

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

28 Year Old Repeat Offender Arrested Following Assault – PENNY

(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – On July 19, 2020, at 3:49 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault in progress at a motel on River Road West, Wasaga Beach. Multiple witnesses stated a male was repeatedly punching another male who was screaming for help, outside of a motel room.

Officers attended the area and located the involved parties. Investigation at the scene led police to arrest and charge one male for multiple Criminal Code offences.

As a result of the investigation, Johnathan PENNY, 28 years of age, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

CC 145(5)(a) – Failure to comply with release order

CC 264.1(1)(a) – Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

CC 266 – Assault

CC 348(1)(b) – Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence

CC 430(1)(a) – Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused was held for a bail hearing by video on July 20, 2020.

8 Year Old Dies Following Collision – 33 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Causing Death Charge – BREE

(MIDDLESEX, ON) On Friday July 17, 2020 at 9:54 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire, and Middlesex-London EMS responded to a serious two vehicle collision at the intersection of Egremont Dr. and Hickory Dr. located in the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe.

The intersection was closed for several hours as members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) assisted with the investigation.

Four people from one vehicle were transported to hospital by EMS, three with minor injuries and one youth with life threatening injuries.

The youth female passenger later died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. The deceased has been identified as Nihal TOOR – age 8- of London, ON.

During the investigation Police learned that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle had been impaired. The driver was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Strathroy OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Alicia VAN BREE -33 years of age- of Strathroy, ON with:

CC 320.14(1)(b) Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

CC 320.14(3) Operation causing death.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on September 10, 2020 to speak to the charges.
