Pig’s Head & Various Parts Found In Ditch

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Sunday, May 3, 2020, at approximately 12:11 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated a mischief after responding to a 9-1-1 emergency call at a Fairground Road, Houghton, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a resident was out for a walk when they observed what appeared to be a severed pigs head and various other parts of the animal that unknowns had dumped in a ditch on the side of the roadway.

Police are continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public, if anyone has any information that can assist with the investigation they are being asked to contact the OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police immediately.

Paul TREPANIER Arrested Following K9 Track

(COCHRANE, ON) – On May 2, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to someone breaking and entering at a municipal property on Second Avenue in the Town of Cochrane.

The OPP Canine Unit with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) located the suspect at the scene.

Paul TREPANIER, 51-years-old, of Cochrane, has been charged with the following offences:

Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),

Mischief – Destroys or Damages Property contrary to section 430(1)(a) CC,

Mischief – Obstructs, Interrupts or Interferes with the Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property contrary to section 430(1)(c) CC, and

Two counts of Break, Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC.

The accused person was released at bail court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, on July 9, 2020, to answer to the charges.

James Alexander KUSICK Charged With Driving While Suspended Again

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspended driver, who has been found driving three times this year already, was located driving again in Listowel on the weekend.

A Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol observed the driver, who was known to the officer, operating a grey Mazda. The vehicle pulled into a private driveway on Jackson Crescent, in an attempt to evade police, but the driver was stopped as he exited the vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Howard BLAKENEY Charged For Driving While Suspended

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Cambridge resident is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Line 34, in the Municipality of West Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Line 34 and stopped a Dodge Caravan just after 2:00 p.m. on April 28 2020. The investigation revealed that the driver was suspended from driving.

As a result, Howard BLAKENEY, 36, of Cambridge has been charged with:

Driving while under suspension

Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

Fail to surrender insurance card

8 Stolen Vehicles Recovered – Three Arrested

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Middlesex-Elgin Community Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from the London Police Service, Chippewa Police Service and Oneida Police Service, have arrested three individuals following an investigation into the theft ring of vehicles in the London and Middlesex County area.

Between April 24th, 2020 and April 29th, 2020, thieves stole vehicles, keys and documents from several dealerships in the city of London and the County of Middlesex.

On April 30, 2020, members of the OPP Middlesex Elgin CSCU, assisted by Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE), executed a search warrant at a motel in the Mississauga area, where two suspects were taken into custody. Investigators have recovered 8 stolen vehicles, over 175 vehicle keys, and stolen documents from several dealerships located in the London and Middlesex County area.

OPP have charged Saul FLORES-CRUZ, 32 years-old, of St. Thomas ON with:

CC 430(4) Mischief Under $ 5,000

CC 145(5)(a) Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

CC 333.1 Theft of Motor Vehicle

CC 348(1)(b) Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence

CC 341 Fraudulent Concealment

(5 counts) CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

(5 counts) CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

OPP have also charged Amber COTTRELLE, 31 years-old, of London, ON with:

CC 733.1(1) Fail to Comply with Probation Order

CC 341 Fraudulent Concealment

(5 counts) CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

(6 counts) CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

On April 25, 2020, OPP arrested and charged Kalihwi RODARTE, 26 years-old, of the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation with:

CC 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

CC 320.18(1)(a) Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

CC 348(1)(b) Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence

CC 430(4) Mischief Under $ 5,000

All accused parties have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to appear in a London court room to speak to the charges.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Police are encouraging all dealerships and companies with fleet vehicles to re-evaluate their key storage protocols to prevent thieves from easily gaining access to keys for company vehicles and facilities.

51 Year Old Driver Facing Impaired By Drug Charge – FERGUSON

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A traffic stop by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week has resulted in criminal charges against a Kincardine resident.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on May 1, 2020 a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway just north of Bayfield when the officer came across a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the road. A traffic stop was initiated to check on the driver and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver to be possibly under the influence of a drug.

A roadside Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and a search was conducted. The subsequent search resulted in police locating a quantity of suspected drugs.

The driver was then transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). At the end of the evaluation the DRE determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug.

Donald FERGUSON, 51 years of age, from Kincardine has been charged with Impaired Operation, Possession of a Schedule I Substance & Possession of a Schedule II Substance. The accused has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 13, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Collision Involving Impaired Driver – COONAN

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Novice driver from Grand Bend is facing charges after he crashed his vehicle this past weekend north of Bayfield.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to attend a single motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Bayfield Road and Bluewater Veteran’s Highway.

Shortly thereafter an officer arrived on scene and spoke with the uninjured driver and passenger. While speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment through a drug. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and a search was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle police located a quantity of cannabis that was readily available to the driver.

The driver was then transported to the Petrolia OPP Detachment for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). At the end of the evaluation the DRE determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug.

Eric COONAN, 27 years of age, from Grand Bend has been charged with Impaired Operation, Drive Motor Vehicle With Cannabis Readily Available & Novice Driver – Presence of Drug in System. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 29, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. His driver’s licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

38 Year Old Caught Going 145 in an 80 – METZGER

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after they were speeding in West Perth last week.

On April 29 2020, police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 163, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 145km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Jeremy METZGER, 38, of Palmerston, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On May 1, 2020, at approximately 4:15 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two motorcycles and a pick-up truck on Wellington Road 19 at the Sixth Line of Centre Wellington Township.

Investigation revealed that two motorcycles were travelling eastbound followed by an eastbound pick-up truck when the collision occurred.

John BOTTS, 65-years-old of Nichol Township was operating one of the motorcycles involved in the collision. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

A female motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The Wellington County OPP along with West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

Thief Arrested In Wingham – Allanah HERON

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Mildmay resident with shoplifting and driving related offences following an incident that took place in Wingham last week.

At approximately 1:37 p.m. on April 30, 2020 Huron OPP officers were dispatched to attend a department store on Josephine Street in response to a patron that was observed shoplifting in the store.

An officer arrived on scene and spoke with the suspect in question. As the officer was completing some initial checks the suspect entered her vehicle and proceeded to drive away. The investigating officer later made contact with the suspect and she turned herself into police.

Allanah HERON, 23 years of age from Mildmay has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime $5,000, Use Plates Not Authorized for Vehicle and Drive While Under Suspension. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Goderich – David THIESSEN

(GODERICH) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron County resident with Uttering Threats and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order following an incident that took place in Goderich last week.

On Thursday, April 30, 2020 at approximately 9:44 a.m. Huron OPP members responded to a motel in Goderich after learning a patron had confronted a staff member and uttered threats against the victim.

Prior to police arrival the accused had left the scene however it didn’t take long before officers tracked down the accused.

The accused was located and taken into custody without incident. Subsequent checks on the accused revealed he was currently serving a probation sentence and was breaching conditions of his release.

David THIESSEN, 27 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with Utter Threats to Cause Death, Fail to Comply with Probation Order (3 counts) and Fail to Comply with Release Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 27, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

29 Year Old Facing Impaired Charges Following Hit And Run – GIBBINGS

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 3, 2020 at 6:42 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call from the public of a commercial motor vehicle, observed to have struck the wire barrier, located in the centre median of HWY 402 at Kerwood Rd. The suspect fled the area and was observed dragging wire and debris behind the vehicle, w/b on HWY 402 into Lambton County.

With help from the public, police were able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle when they soon learned that the driver was impaired. He was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Petrolia OPP detachment for further tests.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Aaron GIBBINGS -age 29- of Plympton-Wyoming, ON with:

CC 320.14(1)(b) Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration

CC 320.14(1)(a) Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

CC 320.16(1) Failure to stop after accident

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in a Sarnia court room on August 24, 2020 to speak to the charges.

Parking Lot Argument – Kevin HORSBURGH Charged

(WALKERTON, ON) – On May 3, 2020 at 1:05 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance in a parking lot along Yonge Street south in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find that a loud argument had taken place.

As a result of the police investigation, 58-year-old Kevin HORSBURGH of Brockton was charged with Utter Threats. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 16, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Yves OLIVIER – Drug Driving

(NIPISSING FIRST NATION, ON) – On May 1, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer from the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling on Highway 17 in Nipissing First Nation. The officer observed a vehicle weaving in its lane on the highway and conducted a traffic stop.

After speaking with the driver, the officer placed the driver under arrest for impaired driving. The driver was brought back to the North Bay OPP Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Yves OLIVIER, age 36, of West Nipissing, was charged with the following:

Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) and

Operation While Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2020, in North Bay.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the drivers’ licence was subject to a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS).

This incident marks 17 drivers charged under the criminal impaired driving laws in the North Bay Detachment.

OPP Marine Unit Attend Plane Crash in Georgian Bay Township

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP,ON)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 12:39 PM May 2, 2020 to a report of a plane crash into the waters of Georgian Bay in the area of Pinery Point, Georgian Bay Township.

The OPP Communication Centre after receiving the 911 call from an area resident also dispatched the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Marine Unit who arrived on the scene of the crash shortly after the dispatch. The officers recovered and transported the lone pilot to an nearby awaiting County of Simcoe Paramedic Services Unit. Sadly, the pilot was pronounced deceased despite the efforts of emergency services claiming the life of a 47 year old male of Oro-Medonte Township.

The small ultralight aircraft being flown by the pilot sank at the crash scene and Transport Canada has been contacted to assist in the ongoing investigation. Attending officers wish to thank all of the attending emergency services personnel for their assistance with this investigation.
