Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On May 1, 2020, at approximately 4:15 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two motorcycles and a pick-up truck on Wellington Road 19 at the Sixth Line of Centre Wellington Township.

Preliminary investigation revealed that two motorcycles were travelling eastbound followed by an eastbound pick-up truck when the collision occurred.

A male motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since succumbed to his injuries.

A female motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Wellington County OPP along with West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

James TELFORD Facing Assault With Weapon Charge

(TARA, ON) – On April 30, 2020 at 8:59 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a dispute at a residence along John Street in Tara. Officers arrived and learned that an assault had taken place. The accused was located at his residence, but refused to cooperate with police. Members of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and an OPP Canine Unit attended the scene to assist the South Bruce OPP with this incident.

Approximately 3:29 a.m. on May 1, 2020, OPP ERT members entered the residence and took the accused into custody without incident. James TELFORD, 36-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for May 1, 2020.

The victim reported minor injuries to police.

Robbery In Goderich – Cody BECHELY Arrested Again – Threats, Breach, Armed Robbery, etc.

(GODERICH, ON) – A Huron County man is facing several charges, including a Robbery charge in connection with an event that took place yesterday in Goderich.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 29, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a business located on Bayfield Road after learning a customer had entered the store and was causing problems in the store. The suspect had attempted to steal items from the store and when approached by a staff member he made a verbal threat, as well, he threatened a staff member with an axe that he had located inside the store.

Officers arrived on scene and quickly located the suspect still inside the store. The suspect failed to comply with the officer’s orders and resisted the officers upon arrest. The accused also threatened to cause bodily harm to one of the arresting officers.

Cody BECHELY, 23 years of age, of no fixed address has been charged with Robbery With a Weapon, Resist Peace Officer, Uttering Threats, Mischief Under $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He remains in custody with an upcoming court date at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Howick Methamphetamine Bust – Officer Assaulted – Murray THORNTON Arrested Again

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Howick Township man with numerous criminal charges following an incident that took place in Howick yesterday morning.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on April 29, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence on Harriston Road for a family dispute.

The homeowner requested police attend his residence to help remove a family member from his place. Police arrived on scene and located the uncooperative subject. Upon asking the male subject to leave the residence he refused and postured to police in a threatening manner.

The accused failed to comply with the requests of the officers and resisted arrest. The accused also assaulted one of the arresting officers causing a minor injury to the officer. Ultimately, the officers gained control of the subject and he was taken into custody.

A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. In addition, it was also learned the accused was currently serving a probation sentence and was failing to abide by several conditions of his release.

Murray THORNTON, 58 years of age, from Howick Township is facing the following charges:

Assault a Peace Officer

Obstruct a Peace Officer

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Six Counts

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 4, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Items Stolen From Crime Scene In Clinton – Barbara-Jean PIGEAU & Cody BECHELY Arrested So Far

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A search warrant conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment Crime Unit has resulted in police recovering stolen property that was taken from an arson crime scene in Clinton.

In mid-April, Huron OPP received a complaint that someone had illegally entered and stole several items from a burnt out residence located on Rattenbury Street West. An investigation commenced and shortly thereafter police acted on information that resulted in police securing a search warrant for a property located on London Road.

Officers executed the search warrant on April 24, 2020 and recovered a collection of items that had been stolen from the fire scene.

Two accused have been taken into custody and a third remains outstanding.

Barbara-Jean PIGEAU, 39 years of age of Central Huron has been charged with Break & Enter Commit Indictable Offence & Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Cody BECHELY, 23 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Mischief At University Of Guelph Property

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On April 28, 2020 at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of mischief at the University of Guelph Swine Research Site located on Arkell Road in Puslinch Township.

Investigation revealed that sometime between April 27, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. and April 28, 2020 at 6:30 a.m., unknown suspect/s entered the facility and spray-painted graffiti on the walls, as well as outside on a tractor that was parked on-site.

The graffiti consisted of profanity and slogans in support of animal rights.

A suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance footage at the University of Guelph where a similar incident occurred during same period of time. The vehicle is described as a 2008-2009 four door Metallic Blue Ford Focus.

49 Year Old Arrested After Yelling At Employees

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 29, 2020 at 3:09 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police received a call to a disturbance at a business in the 700 block of Queen Street in Kincardine. An individual was reported to be hollering at employees and becoming combative.

Officers arrived and located the accused outside at the rear of the business. A 49-year-old resident of Huron-Kinloss Township was arrested and charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place.

Thief In Goderich Attempts To Run Away – Michael BERNARD Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Huron East resident will have to make a trip to criminal court later this summer after he was caught shoplifting at a business outside of Goderich yesterday.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on April 29, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a department store located just outside of Goderich to investigate a shoplifting occurrence.

Upon arrival police located the suspect in the store lobby under detention by store security. Police learned the suspect failed to pay for several items and when he was confronted by staff members the accused attempted to run away. To no avail, the accused was apprehended in the store parking lot by a store security officer.

Police arrested the male and a search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of store items that he had failed to pay for.

Michael BERNARD, 31 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Death Investigation

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On April 30, 2020 at approximately 6:10 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Centre Wellington Fire and Guelph Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a 911 call in Elora.

Emergency responders attended David Street near Wellington Road 7 and located a young person in medical distress who was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is a non-suspicious death investigation and no further information will be released about this incident.

Thefts From Numerous Building Sites

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – Over the past month and half, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to an increased amount of calls involving building materials and tools stolen from building sites across both, Grey and Bruce Counties.

On April 20, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. OPP officers received a report of a theft from a construction trailer at a house under construction at Concession 4, Chatsworth. Culprits forced entry to the trailer during the night of Sunday, April 19th and early morning Monday, April 20th. Several tools related to masonry work were taken such as; two gas powered cut off saws (Husqvarna & Stihl), Bostitch air nailer, Dewalt impact drill, Milwaukee hammer/impact drill and several hand tools.

On April 16, 2020 at 7:35 a.m. OPP officers were dispatched to a theft of multiple sheets of plywood and other wood products from a construction site at Lakeshore Boulevard North, South Bruce Peninsula. Sometime between the evening of Apr 15th and the morning of April 16th, unknown suspect(s) attended the cottage under construction and stole the wood products.

On April 15, 2020 at 9:17 a.m. OPP officers were dispatched to a theft of tools and construction material from a sea container at Werry Avenue, Dundalk in the Township of Southgate. The unknown suspect(s) cut the lock off to gain entry to the container. Three Stihl concrete saws were stolen.

On April 6, 2020 at 3:22 p.m. OPP officers were dispatched to a job site at Highway 6&10 in Georgian Bluffs. An assortment of hand tools were stolen and a van parked at the site was entered as well. No suspect(s) at this time.

On March 28, 2020 at 9:23 a.m. OPP officers responded to a report of a break and enter into a construction site trailer at Princess Street in Shallow Lake. Numerous power tools were stolen from the trailer. The theft occurred sometime between, March 27 at 2:30 p.m. and March 28, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. by unknown suspect(s).

On March 23, 2020 at 8:48 a.m. OPP officers were dispatched to a break and enter at a building site of a new home at Goderich Point Loop in Northern Bruce Peninsula. The break-in occurred between the morning of March 21st and the morning of March 23rd. Unknown suspect(s) stole numerous tools and building supplies.

Grey Bruce OPP is asking for assistance from the public in identifying the person(s) involved in these criminal actions.

Fraud Investigation Results In Charges For Michael KENNEDY

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On September 18, 2019 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit received a fraud report that occurred at a business on Wellington Road 19 in the Township of Centre Wellington.

Police investigation revealed that the fraud occurred over a period of several months in 2019.

As a result Michael KENNEDY, 42-years-old of Niagara Falls has been charged with Fraud Over $5000 X2, Falsification Books and Documents – Fraudulent Intent and Use, Acts, Deals on Forged Document contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 28, 2020 to answer to the charges.

18 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On April 27, 2020, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a black sedan travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Christian Dante ANTONACCI, 18-years-old of Whitby has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on July 15, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Wanted Person Arrested Following Foot Chase

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On April 24, 2020 at 4:26 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) learned that a wanted person was at Mason Drive, Saugeen First Nation. OPP officers attended the area and observed the wanted person and following a brief foot chase the suspect was arrested and transported to Grey Bruce OPP Detachment in Wiarton.

On October 25, 2019 OPP officers investigated an assault occurrence on Saugeen First Nation and formed reasonable and probable grounds against the arrested suspect. A warrant was put out for their arrest following the investigation in October 2019.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged 37 year old, Joshua Misquadis from Kitchener with the following offences,

Assault, section 266 Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

3 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC

Fail to Comply with Recognizance, section 145(3) CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing on April 25, 2020.

Domestic Assault In Hensall

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Municipality of Bluewater resident with domestic assault charges following an investigation conducted by police over the weekend.

On Saturday, April 25, 2020 at approximately 6:35 p.m. Huron OPP members responded to a heated domestic dispute taking place at a residence in Hensall. Upon arrival police met with an injured party. Police learned the injured party sustained a minor injury after being struck in the head with object by the accused.

The subsequent police investigation resulted in police arresting and charging the accused, a 38-year-old resident of Bluewater. The accused has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault. The accused has since been released from custody.
