Youth Disobeys Curfew Condition

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a youth for breaching his release conditions.

On May 20, 2014 the youth was released from custody with conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to abide by a daily curfew of 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Just before 3:00 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the youth in the downtown Chatham area. The officer approached the youth, knowing that he was currently bound by a curfew. The youth gave the officer an explanation, however his story was proven to be false and he was arrested.

The 17-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Domestic Assault

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic dispute in Chatham yesterday.

Around 5:00 p.m. a man and woman began arguing at their residence. The verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation when the man grabbed the woman and pushed her backwards causing her to fall. The woman did not require medical attention.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. last night, officers located the man and he was arrested. The 49-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Possession of Child Pornography and Drug

Barrie Police Service ICE Unit (Internet Child Exploitation), acting on information received from the Provincial Strategy, obtained a search warrant to enter a residence in the North end of Barrie. The search warrant authorized the examination of computers within the residence.

While officers were searching the residence for computers, another male was found to be in possession of controlled drugs, a quantity of cash, scales and a prohibited weapon. The male was arrested for the possession for the purpose of trafficking and transported to Barrie Police Service for processing. The investigation resulted in following criminal charges; possession for the purpose (two counts), possession of a prohibited weapon, breach of probation, breaching of a weapons prohibition, and having proceeds of crime. The 23 year old male was held for a bail hearing scheduled for May 29th, 2014.

The search continued at the residence and members of the Technological Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police were successful in locating images of Child Pornography. Another tenant of that same residence was determined to have committed the offences of possession of child pornography and the distribution of child pornography. Police having knowledge of the whereabouts of this male attended a worksite and placed the 24 year old male in custody. The male was transported to Barrie Police Service for processing. This male was also held for a bail hearing.

The Barrie Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet. This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

Caroline Budd & Antonio (Anthony) Comunale – Sexual Assault With Weapon

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section has charged an Ottawa couple with sex related offences.

On Thursday May 22, 2014, two 16 year-old females reported to police that they had been sexually assaulted by a man and women at a residence in the west end of Ottawa. The incidents occurred on Saturday May 17, 2014 and Sunday May 18, 2014.

On May 29, 2014 members of the Ottawa Police Service executed a search warrant at a west end residence and arrested a male and female without incident..

Caroline Budd, 20-year-old and Antonio (Anthony) Comunale, 31-year-old both of Ottawa are charged with two counts each of Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault with a Weapon, Assault with a Weapon and Forcible Confinement.

They will be appearing in court today.

Austin SOUCOUP – Trafficking

On May 28, 2014 members of the Owen Sound Police Service Drug Unit and the Criminal Investigation Branch executed a warrant on a downtown apartment. The search warrant followed the arrest of the apartment occupant on the main street after he left his residence.

Inside the apartment police located marihuana pre packaged for sale, scales, packaging and cash proceeds from the sale of drugs. In addition, police also located methadone, a schedule I drug used to treat opiate addiction that had not been prescribed for the suspect and a quantity of premium cuts of meat that had been stolen from local grocery stores.

Austin SOUCOUP, 53 years of Owen Sound has been charged with Possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, Possession of the proceeds of crime, Possession of property obtained by crime and Possession of a Schedule I substance. He has been held for a bail hearing on May 29 to answer to the charges.

Trucker Charged As A Result Of Crash In Front Of Erie Meats

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday May 27, 2014, shortly before 11 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a collision involving a tractor trailer and a car on Mitchell Rd. South in front of Erie Meats in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that a full sized tractor trailer was south bound on Mitchell Rd (Hwy 23), when it slowed and proceeded to make a left turn. A north bound car travelling in the north bound lane of Mitchell Road was struck by the turning truck. The impact caused the car to enter the east ditch where it rolled onto its roof.

The driver of the car, a 56 year old male resident of the Municipality of North Perth sustained minimal injuries. The passenger of the car, a 66 year old male from the Municipality of North Perth sustained minor injuries. Both men were transported to local hospital for treatment. The 52 year old male driver of the transport truck, a Brampton resident was uninjured.

The driver of the transport truck has been charged with “turn not in safety”.

Traffic was routed around the collision scene by means of a single lane for approximately an hour until the debris and damaged vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Roadway Closed Due To Collision And Chemical Spill

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Just before 2:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Lucknow Fire Department personnel responded to a single motor collision at the intersection of Dungannon Road and Division Line.

The involved tractor-trailer unit overturned and a portion of the chemicals on board leaked from the tanker trailer. The spilt chemicals are a liquid herbicide and a liquid fertilizer.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Huron OPP has blocked off access to the area at the following points:

To the north at Hawkins Road and Division Line

To the south at Glen’s Hill Road and Division Line

To the east at Lanesville Line and Dungannon Road

To the west at Bluewater Veteran’s Highway and Dungannon Road.

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has been contacted about the spill. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Dungannon Road at Division Line will remain closed until the truck and trailer can be safely removed.

Please take alternate routes to avoid delays.

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A local man faces a stunt driving charge after spinning his wheels when the traffic light turned green.

On May 26, 2014 an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was stopped at the intersection of Kent Street and Angeline Street for a red light. The officer was in an unmarked cruiser at the time. When the light turned green the officer observed as a vehicle initiated a quick start, intentionally losing traction on the roadway.

As a result of the officers observations the driver, Gary COARD, 41 years of age, was charged with stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the accused had his driver’s licence suspended for 7 days.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on July 8, 2014.

OPP INVESTIGATING BREAK IN TO RESIDENTIAL GARAGE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the break, enter and theft that occurred into a residential garage.

On May 26, 2014 an OPP officer attended a residence located on Manor Road in response to a report of the theft of garden equipment from the garage. The garage was entered through an unlocked door and a Stihl 400 leaf blower was stolen.

EXCESSIVE SPEED LEADS TO CHARGES

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – Two separate vehicle stops conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week resulted in the drivers being charged with stunt driving due to excessive speed.

On May 24, 2014 an officer was on patrol on Highway 35 and stopped a vehicle that was travelling at 134km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Charged with stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), is Ross TUCK, 30 years of age, of Pickering. The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on July 8, 2014.

On May 25, 2014 while patrolling Highway 115 an officer stopped a vehicle travelling at 158km/h in a 100km/h zone. Leah SHEPHERD, 32 years of age, of Peterborough, is charged with stunt driving, contrary to the HTA. The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on July 8, 2014.

MARIHUANA SEIZED FROM VEHICLE

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in a small quantity of marihuana being seized.

On May 27, 2014 an OPP officer stopped a vehicle and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. No alcohol related charges were laid but the driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marihuana which was seized.

Charged with possession of marihuana, under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act is Harold BORELAND, 62 years of age, of Hamilton.

UTTER THREAT

(South Stormont) – On May 27th, 2014 at approximately 2:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a threat complaint at a property on County Road 29, South Stormont Township. Investigation revealed a male had uttered a threat to another male. Further details indicated the accused was bound by a condition of non-communication from a previous incident.

A 46year old man (from South Stormont) was arrested and is charged with;

– Utter Threat
– Fail to Comply with Condition

He was held in custody and scheduled to appear in court (bail) this date in Cornwall.

MISSING PERSON

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking the public’s assistance in locating Jeffrey Angus FANJOY, age 38 from Brighton, Ontario.

Mr. FANJOY left a note indicating he was going for a bicycle ride at approximately 8:30 am on Tuesday May 27, 2014. His bike was located at a relative’s residence in Cobourg later Tuesday morning, but FANJOY was not around. Police have checked several areas unsuccessfully as a result of a location app on his iPad.

It is believed that FANJOY may be making his way to Toronto with possibility of going onto Western Canada. It is unknown what clothes he was wearing when he left but he should be in possession of a grey and green “Vancouver 2010” Olympics backpack.

OPP are concerned for FANJOY’s health and well-being.
