Owen Sound Police Withhold Name Of School Area Drug Dealer

In February of this year, Owen Sound Police began an investigation in relation to the trafficking of drugs by an Owen Sound resident.  As a result, on Thursday February 22nd, 2024 just after 4:00pm, the Owen Sound Police Service Drug Unit with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Branch, arrested the 27-year-old man in a park located on the east side of the city within two blocks of a school.

The male was found in possession of several drugs including Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine. The Fentanyl had a weight of over 94 grams and based on how it is sold, this amount of Fentanyl would have represented over 940 individual sales, with an approximate street value of $23,675.00.

Fentanyl is a highly potent and deadly opioid that is responsible for numerous opioid poisoning events in Owen Sound.

The male was charged with three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Substances included in Schedule I, being Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The local resident was also charged with Possession of Proceeds of Crime, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The individual was held in order to make his first court appearance on February 23rd.

Sean Floyd Facing Numerous Sexual Assault Charges

In December 2023 the Owen Sound Police Service commenced an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault at a local business.  Ten victims, all current or past employees of the business, were identified and provided statements to police.  As a result, 58-year-old Sean Floyd was charged with ten counts of Sexual Assault, seven counts of Sexual Interference and eight counts of Sexual Exploitation.
 
The Bruce County resident was arrested on February 9th, held for a Show Cause Hearing and has since been released with an upcoming court date at the end of the month.

More Stabbings In Owen Sound – Meth A Factor

Owen Sound Police were called to investigate two stabbings that occurred approximately three hours apart during the early morning hours of Sunday September 24 th . The investigations later concluded that the same individuals were responsible for both incidents.

Just prior to 2 a.m. a 20-year-old male victim approached a vehicle that had parked on 2nd Avenue East to ask the male passenger for a cigarette. At that time, the female driver exited the vehicle and, without provocation of any kind, proceeded to stab the victim in the top of the
head with a knife. The victim suffered a large laceration and was transported by ambulance to Brightshores Hospital. The victim suffered a significant, but non-life- threatening injury. The male and female fled in a vehicle from the area.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. the same male and female attended at a west side apartment building. The pair forced entry by smashing the glass door with a hammer and proceeded to cause substantial damage inside the building. Owen Sound Police attended to investigate.


While on scene the female offender was discovered by a tenant hiding in the elevator. The female proceeded to stab this man in the hand and discharged a cannister of bear spray at him.

Police intervened and the female then charged at the officer with a knife and simultaneously discharged more bear spray, striking the officer. The female was subdued after the successful deployment of a conducted energy weapon (taser). The second stabbing victim also attended
Brightshores Hospital and was treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
A continued investigation resulted in police locating and arresting the involved male who was found seated in a vehicle in the area.

The accused parties were found in possession of two prohibited daggers, multiple knives, a large axe and a machete. Police also seized Crystal
Methamphetamine and Methamphetamine pills from their possession.

Kelly Auld, a 34- year- old woman from London and Tyler Yager, a 30- year- old man formerly of Chesley, face a long list of charges including Assault with a Weapon, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Prohibited Weapons and Mischief. AULD is additionally charged with Impaired
Operation of a Vehicle by Drug, Assaulting a Peace Officer and Administering a Noxious Substance. Auld and Yager, have made court appearances and were remanded into custody.

Toddler Dead – Two Arrested In Owen Sound

On July 2 nd 2023, just after 10:00am members of the Owen Sound Police Service as well as Grey County Paramedic Services and Owen Sound Fire & Emergency Services attended a westside residence in relation to a 9-1-1 call.

Police arrived on scene and began life saving measures in relation to a young child from the home. Once paramedics arrived, the child who was under two years of age was transported to Grey Bruce Regional Health Services, where they were pronounced deceased. A post mortem was completed at London Health Sciences by a forensic pathologist and a search warrant was executed on the home.

An investigation was conducted by members of the Criminal Investigation Branch which lead to a 48-year-old male and 39-year-old female, both residents of Owen Sound, being arrested and charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death. The individuals were held for a Bail Hearing on July 3, 2023.

As this has been a tragic incident for all persons involved and continues to be an extremely difficult time for family members, there will be no further details provided by police.

Children Sexually Assaulted On School Bus – 81 Year Old Arrested

The Owen Sound Police Service have charged an 81 year old Owen Sound male in relation to an investigation in which two young female children were touched inappropriately in a sexual manner on an area school bus.


The male, who was employed as a school bus monitor for a local company providing school bus transportation services, appeared in court on May 18 th charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and two counts of Sexual Interference. The male has been terminated and is no longer performing duties as a school bus monitor. Police believe that the male was only associated to a single bus route which serviced three area
Catholic schools. School officials have directly notified parents of children on that route.


The police investigation will be continuing to determine whether any further victims may be involved or whether any other students on the bus route may have observed anything relevant to the investigation. No students will be contacted directly by police, should any follow up be required it will be coordinated jointly through the school and parents.

Person Charged 3 Times For Violating Isolation Order

For a third time this week the Owen Sound Police have charged a 26-year-old Owen Sound man after he refuses to isolate. The male after testing positive for Covid-19 had been ordered to remain in his residence for the required isolation period. Once again, this individual was found to be outside his residence in the down town core of the city for non- essential reasons. He received another $880.00 fine contrary the Health Protection and Promotion Act.


Two other Owen Sound residents who had been ordered by the Grey Bruce Health Unit to isolate after a positive Covid-19 test result, have been found as well to have total disregard for the order and the potential harm to others. A 38-year-old female and a 28-year-old male
were both charged early Friday evening under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, each receiving a fine of $880.00.

Owen Sound Police Charge 5 For Leaving House

On Saturday April 25 th , 2021 just after midnight, Owen Sound Police responded to the complaint of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Police attended and located a social gathering of five people. Based on the current stay at home order in effect within the Province, two 20-year-old men, an 18-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male, were charged and issued an $880.00 fine under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.


Police would like to remind the public that on April 7th, 2021 the Ontario government declared a state of emergency and issued a province wide stay at home order effective April 8th, 2021. The
stay at home order requires everyone to remain at home except for essential purposes, which does not include social gatherings. Police would like to stress that it is important to take this seriously and stay home.

Stealing Cars Not Essential – Extra Charge For Thief

On Tuesday April 20 th , 2021 just before 9:00 a.m., an Owen Sound Police officer observed a 38-year-old male attempting to steal a parked motor vehicle from the 400 block of 8 th Street East, Owen Sound. As a result of the investigation, the Port McNicoll resident was charged with Attempt Theft of Motor Vehicle, Failing to Comply with his Release Order and four counts of Failing to Comply with his Probation Orders.

The man made an appearance in court and has since been remanded into custody. The male was also charged with failing to comply with an order made during a declared Emergency under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Defection! Owen Sound Police Side With People & Constitution – Marital Law Measures Not To Be Enforced

The Owen Sound Police Service recognizes the challenges being faced in the Province by increasing infection rates and hospitalization numbers related to Covid19.

While we are still awaiting clarification from the Province regarding the new legislation, we will continue to engage with citizens, explain, educate and enforce as required.  The number of citizen generated complaints continue to increase. Our officers will not be engaging in random person or vehicle stops.

Ford’s Enforcers Warn Everyone To Stay Home Or Else – Carry “Your Papers” At All Times #ShowMeYourPapers

On Wednesday April 14 th , 2021 just before 9:00 p.m., Owen Sound Police responded to the complaint of a possible party being held at an eastside residence. Based on the current stay at home order in effect within the Province, police attended to investigate. Several persons were spoken to, with a 25-year-old local man being charged and issued a $880.00 fine under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.

Loaded Sawed Off Firearm Seized In Owen Sound

On February 21 2021 the Owen Sound Police commenced an investigation regarding domestic threats, mischief along with weapons offences.


The investigation revealed that a local 21-year-old male had threatened a female and destroyed some of her property. When police arrived at the residence they observed a firearm in plain sight.


The firearm was made safe and found to have been loaded. Further the firearm had been sawed off making it a prohibited firearm. Police arrested the male without incident. He was charged with uttering threats, domestic mischief and 5 additional charges relating to the possession of the firearm.


The male was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing on February 22, 2021.

Snowmobiler Vs Tree Collision In Owen Sound

On 20 February 2021 at approximately 1:30 pm Owen Sound Police were dispatched to the snowmobile trail running between Superior Street and 8 th Street East regarding a sled hitting a tree.


The investigation revealed that a 43-year-old Shelburne resident failed to negotiate a turn and struck a tree. The collision resulted in a broken wrist and significant damage to the sled.


Owen Sound Police continue to conduct an enforcement initiative on the snowmobile trail and remind snowmobilers to obey the posted speed limit.

Two Charged After Snowmobile Accident In Owen Sound

On Saturday February 13 th , 2021 just after 2:30 p.m. Emergency Services personnel attended 11 th Street East at 1 st Avenue East, Owen Sound, in relation to a snowmobile which had left the roadway and was on the ice of the inner harbour. The investigation revealed that the 17 year old Monkton, Ontario resident had been operating a 2012 Skidoo, southbound along 1 st Avenue East.


The driver road up over a snowbank in order to leave the roadway, believing that he could cross the inner harbour and did not realize that there was a significant drop. The snowmobile sustained moderate damage and was removed from the ice of the inner harbour by a tow truck. The teenage male was extremely fortunate not to have been injured during this incident.


The driver, as well as another youth that was operating a snowmobile with him, were charged with Operate a Motorized Snow Vehicle in the Prohibited Downtown Area, under the City of Owen Sound By-Law. As a result, they each were issued a $240.00 fine.


Police would like to remind the public that with the increase in snowfall and the opening of the trails in the area, there has been a major increase in the number of snowmobilers. The roads within the City of Owen Sound that can be used by snowmobiles is very limited. They are prohibited in the downtown core and the major arteries.

Indecent Act In Owen Sound- Suspect Description Released

The Owen Sound Police Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in connection with an investigation into an indecent act.

The incident occurred just before 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon along 3rd Avenue West at 11th Street West, Owen Sound.  A sixteen-year-old female was walking by a parked vehicle when the driver of the truck got her attention.  Thinking the male was lost she returned, at which point she was asked if she wanted a ride.  The youth became concerned and declined the ride.  The suspect then asked for directions to the hospital. It was at that time she looked inside the truck and observed the male committing an indecent act, at which point the youth left the area out of further concerns.  

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 25-35 years old, with short blonde hair that is shaved on the sides, and having two-day old facial hair.  The truck that the suspect was operating at the time is described as a Dodge Ram 1500, dark coloured, 4 door, with a short flatbed and a silver or grey tailgate (see attached photo).
