Non-emergency 911 calls

Date: Monday, June 2, 2014 – 3:30pm
In the last 24 hours, the Barrie Police Service received over 30 non-emergency 911 calls. Several of these calls were “pocket dials”, often with Blackberry devices. Barrie Police Service invests significant time investigating and responding to these accidental calls. 911 is for police, fire, or medical emergencies when immediate action is required: someone’s health, safety or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress. Barrie Police Service asks citizens to program the non-emergency Barrie Police number of 705-725-7025 into their phones, to use for non-emergency police occurrences. Also, police ask that everyone store their cellular phone in a location where the emergency button/911 dial cannot be accidentally struck.

Ottawa Man Wanted For Human Trafficking

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating Taylor DAGG, a 23 year-old Ottawa man. He is wanted by the Ottawa Police in relation to a Human Trafficking investigation that started in 2013.

DAGG has two outstanding warrants with the Ottawa Police Service:

1- A first Instance Warrant for Breach of recognizance (2 counts)

2- A Bench Warrant for failing to appear at his preliminary hearing.

DAGG is currently facing the following criminal charges:

Trafficking in Persons

Material Benefit resulting from Trafficking in Persons

Forcible Confinement

Uttering Threats to cause bodily harm – 2 counts

Intimidation by threats of violence

Theft Under $5000

DAGG measures about 175 cm (5’09) and weighs about 68 kg (150 lb). He is of dark complexion

Mischief`At Lucknow Public School

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On June 2, 2014 at 8:42 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a mischief report from the Lucknow Central public school located in the 400 block of Bob Street in Lucknow. Sometime between 6:00 pm on May 30, 2014 and 7:00 am on June 2, 2014, 4 White, plastic, “Slippery when wet” hazard signs were removed from the brick walls of the school. There is no estimate available on the cost of replacing the stolen signs at this time.

Fatal Hit And Run – Mark Gagne Arrested

(KEMPTVILLE, ON) – On June 1, 2014, at approximately 5:15pm, officers of the Grenville detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal hit and run collision on Townline Road, Oxford.

Fifty-four (54) year old Roy Chapman was killed after he was struck by a grey pick-up truck while he was riding a bicycle.

Yesterday, at approximately 7:00am, officers located the suspect and vehicle at a residence in North Grenville. The driver, 52 year-old Mark Gagne of North Grenville, was arrested at his home and is presently in custody facing charges.

He is scheduled to reappear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville, on Thursday, June 5, 2014.

Break and Enter, ATV Stolen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment is investigating a break and enter at a George St., Dunnville, Haldimand County, ON address.

Sometime during the early morning hours of Tuesday June 3rd, 2014 unknown(s) attended the property and entered an unlocked storage shed. Once inside a green 1999 Yamaha All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was located and removed with the assistance of the ignition key. Value of the theft is approximately $3000 dollars.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED CAUSING BODILY HARM

Police have charged the 21 year old male driver of the Toyota car with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and Operating a Motor Vehicle Over the Legal Limit Causing Bodily Harm.

Henry WALL from Niagara Falls was operating his 2001 Toyota car westbound on Ron McNeil Line in the Township of Malahide when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Ron McNeil Line and Imperial Road. The car was struck by a 2009 Ford pick-up truck traveling south on Imperial Rd.

In the Toyota car the driver and a front seat passenger, a 20 year old Niagara Falls man were not injured in the collision, however the rear seat passenger, a 20 year old Southgate Township, ON man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. He is currently listed in stable condition.

The three occupants of the pick-up truck, the 71 year old male driver from Tillsonburg, his 67 year old wife and their 15 year old granddaughter from the Township of Bayham were all transported to hospital with minor injuries and later released.

All parties were wearing their seatbelts.

As a result of the investigation police arrested and have charged Henry WALL, age 20 of Niagara Falls, ON with;

1. Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm

2. Operating a Motor Vehicle Over the Legal Limit Causing Bodily Harm.

WALL was held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing and later released on a recognizance.

The intersection at Imperial Road and Ron McNeil Line was closed until approximately 3:30am on June 2, 2014 to facilitate the investigation.

PERSONAL INJURY COLLISION

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County and Haldimand County Fire Department responded to a personal injury motor vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road #55 and Walpole Concession Raod #6, Haldimand County, ON.

On Thursday May 29th, 2014 at approximately 2:35 pm a white 1997 Dodge pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Concession Road #6 when it entered into the intersection of County Road #55 and was struck by a north bound blue 2012 International fuel tanker.

As a result of the collision the driver of the Dodge pickup truck identified as 56 year old Michael D’AGATA of Haldimand County, ON sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment from Haldimand County paramedics. He was then flown to a Hamilton area hospital by air ambulance for further treatment.

The driver of the International truck identified as 44 year old Robert LOWES of Brant County, ON was not physically injured during the collision.

Concession Road #6 is controlled by stop signs for east and west bound traffic.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation which is continuing.

THEFT OF GENERATOR

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Monday the 02nd of June 2014, an Officer from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario (OPP) was dispatched to the report of a theft from the Carlow Township Landfill site. Investigation revealed that sometime between the 25th and 28th of May, a shed was entered and a generator was stolen.

BANCROFT CENTURY SHOPPE BREAK AND ENTER

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Monday the 02nd of June 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a break and enter at the Bancroft Century Shoppe on Bridge Street East in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation revealed that sometime overnight a trailer on the property was entered. Property reported stolen included a book shelf, china cabinet and tool box.

UTTERING THREATS

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On June 2nd, 2014 at approximately 7:00 pm Quinte West OPP responded to a Trenton address for the report of a threatening incident.

When police arrived on scene it was learned that a 34 year old Trenton male threatened to attend the victim’s address and harm the victim and his family.

OPP officers arrested the 34 year old Trenton male a short time later for Uttering Threats x 2 and Breach of Court Order.

The male is being held for a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice 15 Bridge St West, Belleville.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

(Bancroft, Ontario) – At approximately 12:06 a.m. on Tuesday June 03rd, 2014 the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a vehicle theft from a garage on Otter Lake Road in Faraday Township. Officers attended the location and investigation revealed that at approximately 11:45 p.m. on the 02nd of June, a black Chevrolet Z-28 Camaro was stolen from a garage. The vehicle was last observed southbound on Highway 28 from Otter Lake Road.

Two Vehicle Collision – 67 Year Old Charged

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On June 2, 2014 at 11:11 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle crash near the intersection of Bruce County Road 4 and Bruce County Road 19 in Brant Township. Officers arrived to find that a Silver Volkswagen Passat turned onto Bruce County Road 4 in the path of a Black GMC flatbed pickup. The driver of the Passat, 67 year old Diane PATTON of Hanover, was charged with Turn not in safety. There were no injuries reported at the crash.

Classic Car Damaged Overnight In Lucknow

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On June 2, 2014 at 11:46 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an overnight mischief at HJ Auto Sales located in the 500 block of Campbell Street in Lucknow. Sometime between 6:00 pm on June 1, 2014 and 8:00 am on June 2, 2014, the windshield on a Black 1980 Pontiac Firebird was smashed. There is no estimate on the cost of repairs to the car at this time.
