OPP CANINE TRACK LEADS TO THE ARREST OF TWO MALES

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – A collaborative effort between Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County OPP, Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex County OPP Canine Unit and London Police Service resulted in the arrest of two male parties.

On Thursday May 29, 2014 at approximately 1:23 a.m. Huron County OPP was attempting to stop a vehicle reported stolen out of the City of London. The suspect vehicle continued southbound where it was observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Richmond Street in Lucan-Biddulph Township, Middlesex County.

Officers successfully deployed a spike belt and the vehicle eventually came to a stop south of Ten Mile Road in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre. The occupants fled the vehicle on foot. A canine track was initiated with the assistance of Middlesex County OPP, Oxford County OPP and London Police Service. As a result, two male suspects were arrested without incident.

Ronald TOWLE, age 31 of London, ON was charged with the following and remains in custody:

One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Two counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the CCC
One count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the CCC

William TURNER, age 25 of London, ON was charged with the following and has since been released from custody:

One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the CCC

Both parties will attend a London Courtroom at a later date to speak to the charges.

The investigation continues.

Two Daytime Break and Enters

(GRAVENHURST, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of the Bracebridge detachment is investigating two break and enters that happened yesterday.

On June 5, 2014 between 10:40 am -11:00 am a residence on Springwood Crescent in Gravenhurst was broken into while the owners were away for a short time. The suspect(s) left out the rear door as the owners arrived home, and nothing was reported stolen.

On the same day between 12:00 am -1:00 pm a residence on Covered Bridge Trail in Bracebridge was broken into while the owners were away for a short time. The suspect(s) stole jewelry and some money.

VEHICLE COLLISION – FAIL TO REMAIN

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH FRONTENAC) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a fail to remain collision. On Wednesday the 4th of June, 2014 at 9:15 pm, a green Ford pick-up truck was travelling on the Gardiners Road ‘off ramp’ from the Westbound Highway 401 lanes. The truck drove into the back of a small Hyundai causing damage to the bumper and taillights of the vehicle.

Two males got out of the truck, and indicated that they would meet in the nearby carpool lot to ‘exchange information’. The two males then returned to their truck and fled the scene driving north on Highway 38.

The males are described as being in their late teens/early 20’s. The driver was wearing an orange construction shirt with shaggy, sandy blonde hair under a baseball cap. The passenger was wearing a black work style shirt.

The truck is described as a green Ford F-150 (possibly an older model) and there was a ‘BROWNING’ sticker on the tailgate or back window of the truck.

DAYLIGHT BREAK AND ENTERS

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) -The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a series of daylight break and enters and thefts that occurred on June 4, 2014 between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The break and enters occurred in several residences throughout the city on the following Streets, Quarter Town Line, William Street, Myrtle Street, and North Street.

Entry was gained through locked and unlocked patio doors, garage doors and windows. Entry was not gained to all the houses; however some doors sustained damage from attempted entries.

Items taken from the break and enters was mostly cash and jewellery.

OPP has been vigilant in their patrols and will continue to do so. OPP Forensic Identification Unit attended and was able to obtain some latent prints.

The OPP is asking residents to be aware of suspicious vehicles and people that may be in neighbourhoods but seem as though they do not belong. The public should try to get descriptions, licence plate numbers and direction of travel and report this immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.

POLICE CALLED TO NORFOLK GENERAL HOSPITAL – MALE ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment was called to investigate an incident at a West Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014 at approximately 4:32 a.m., officers responded to the Norfolk General Hospital after receiving a call from concerned staff members after a male entered the hospital and became involved in a verbal confrontation with employees.

During the verbal confrontation the male proceeded to damage hospital property at which time he then fled from the hospital in an unknown direction.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 42 year old Kevin Leonard HENRY of Brantford, Ontario with mischief under $5000 and fail to comply with probation order.

He will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

OPP INVESTIGATE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE IN ROCKWOOD

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) -Wellington County Ontario Police (OPP) received a report of mischief to a 2014 Kia parked at a residence on Main Street South, Rockwood. The damage occurred overnight from June 4-June 5, 2014. It consisted of a cracked windshield and a shattered rear window. Nothing was reported stolen and there are no suspects.

Welland WLADYKA – 140 in an 80

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) -On June 5, 2014 at approximately 7:28 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling Wellington Road 26 near Wellington Road 22, Guelph-Eramosa Township. A 2000 Chevrolet was observed travelling southbound well above the posted speed limit of 80 km/h.

The officer locked the male driver on radar at 140 km/h.

His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.

Welland WLADYKA age 22 of Guelph is charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Court on July 16, 2014 to answer to the charge.

WARRANT EXECUTED IN RAMARA TOWNSHIP

(ORILLIA, ON) – On May 30th, 2014 at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Orillia Street Crime Unit , Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) and Orillia OPP officers executed a warrant at an address on Concession Road 1 in Ramara Township.

The warrant was in relation to a rash of Break and Enters in Ramara Township since the end of March. During the execution of the warrant officers seized a quantity of stolen property from inside of the residence and discovered Marihuana plants growing outside of the residence.

Five parties were arrested at the residence.

Anna HAJBA, 78 years old of Ramara Township has been charged with Producing Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Edith HAJBA, 53 years old of Ramara Township has been charged with Producing Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Michael HAJBA, 58 years old of Ramara Township has been charged with Producing Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Robert HAJBA, 32 years old of Ramara Township has been charged with Producing Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

These four parties were released on an Appearance Notice with a court date in Orillia on July 8, 2014.

Michael HAJBA, 33 years old of Ramara Township has been charged with Producing Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Cannabis Marihuana, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Break/Enter x 9, Theft x 9 and Breach of Probation.

He was held for a Bail Hearing and will be back in Orillia court on July 8, 2014.

TWO KENORA BREAK AND ENTERS

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Kenora Forensic Identification Unit and Scenes of Crime Officers are investigating two more break and enters.

On Thursday June 5, 2014 shortly after 8:00am, the OPP received a call that a suspect had attempted to enter a residence on the south side of the city. Nothing appeared stolen from the residence.

On Thursday June 5, 2014 shortly after 3:00pm, the OPP received a call that a suspect entered a residence in Keewatin in the early morning. The suspect entered the residence, but nothing was stolen.

Suspect(s) unknown at this time and the investigations are continuing.

(HALIBURTON, ON) On June 04, 2014 at about 1:30 am Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware that a Lorne HARRIS had gone missing from his residence near Wilberforce, Municipality of Highlands East Ontario. Mr. HARRIS was located safe and sound this morning June 06, 2014 in the Oshawa area. The OPP would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.

FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION – DECEASED IDENTIFIED

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment investigated a motor vehicle collision at a Governors Road East, Brant County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Brant County OPP, Brant County Fire Services and Brant County Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.

Investigation has determined that a cyclist and a Honda motor vehicle were travelling eastbound on Governors Road East when they became involved in a collision.

The cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 49 year old David TUTTY of Hamilton, Ontario.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Brant County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Hit and Run – Police Seek Public’s Assistance

On the 07th of June 2014 at 12:40am a 2014 Toyota travelling eastbound 10th Street East collided with a white full size pickup truck in the intersection at 4th Avenue East. The pickup truck was travelling northbound on 4th Avenue East and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection. The pickup then drove away from the accident continuing northbound on 4th Avenue East. The white pickup will have extensive damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The Toyota was also damaged extensively, however the driver was not hurt.

Again, the full size white pickup truck will have extensive damage on the driver’s side.
