Alexander TOTH – Impaired & Racing

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – On June 22, 2014 at approximately 12:12 a.m. Oxford County OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed travelling on Tillson Avenue in Tillsonburg and initiated a traffic stop.

As a result of investigation, police have charged 41 year old Alexander TOTH of Burgessville with the following:

Race a Motor Vehicle ~ Highway Traffic Act

Drive While Ability Impaired ~ Criminal Code of Canada

The male was released on a Promise to Appear at Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on July 22, 2014.

ANTIQUE SWORD OUTSTANDING

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) are investigating a break and enter that occurred on the north end of Kenora.

On June 22, 2014 shortly after 1:00am, the Kenora OPP received a call that a residence in the north end was broken into sometime between Tuesday June 17, 2014 and Sunday June 22, 2014. Unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence and stolen a civil war era cavalry sword along with other household items.

KENORA MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Kenora man for impaired driving following a vehicle stop on Lakeview Drive in the city of Kenora. Shortly after 11:00am, on Saturday June 21, 2014, officers observed a motor vehicle that matched the description of a previous traffic complaint. Police determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and transported him for further tests.

As a result of this investigation, George MCKELVIE, age 29, has been charged with Impaired Driving and Operating a Motor Vehicle With More than .80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood, and Driving while Ability is Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Kenora Court on July 24, 2014 to answer to the charge.

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED AFTER ROLLING ATV

(LUCAN BIDDULPH TWP, ON) – On June 19, 2014 at approximately 12:16 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lucan-Biddulph Fire and Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a single vehicle All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) rollover collision on Roman Line south of Fallon Drive in Lucan-Biddulph Township.

When police arrived, it was soon discovered the driver of the ATV had been drinking and was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While at the hospital, the driver refused to provide a breath sample. As a result of the investigation, the driver, Kevin BROCK, age 28 years of Zorra Township was charged with the following:

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Fail or Refuse to Provide Breath Sample contrary to section 254(5) of the CCC
Drive Off-Road Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to section 15(1) of the Off Road Vehicle Act (ORVA)

The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom July 31, 2014 to speak to the charges.

David MEZENBERG – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On June 21, 2014 at approximately 7:20 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 401 west of Elgin Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre.

When police approached the driver, it was discovered the driver had been drinking. A roadside test was administered and the driver registered a ‘fail”. The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP London detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, police charged the driver, David MEZENBERG, age 31 of London, Ontario with Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mg of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom July 31, 2014 to speak to the charge.

Theft from cars – arrest made

On June 24, 2014 at 12:11 a.m., the Guelph Police went into the area of Memorial Crescent and Paisley Road in response to the report of a male breaking into vehicles. Police located the responsible male hiding in a side yard on Paisley Road. He was arrested and found to be in possession of a large amount of change and contents believed to be taken from nearby vehicles.

A 42-year-old Guelph male has been charged with trespass by night, possession of stolen property, possession of break and enter tools and breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 24, 2014.

On June 23, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Dufferin Street residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight. A theft of a computer and guitar is reported.

Unlawfully in home – arrests made

On June 24, 2014, at 1:09 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Kortright Road East residence to investigate concerns from the owner that this recently sold property had people inside when it should have been vacant. Using a key supplied by the owner, police entered and located two males and a female and arrested them all.

A 17-year-old Guelph male has been charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (CDSA). He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 24, 2014.

Break and enter

On June 23, 2014, the Guelph Police went to a Spencer Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) smashed a window to gain entry sometime over the weekend. It was not reported at the time of this release if a theft occurred.

Chatham Man arrested for breaching court conditions

On Monday the 23rd of June 2014 at about 5:00 p.m. the Chatham-Kent Police attended Wal-Mart to assist security with a male who was under court orders not to be at the store. The 40 year old man fled from store security and was located by police a short distance later with a 37 year old female. The male was arrested and further investigation revealed the woman he was with was in possession of illegal drugs.

The female was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released with a future court date. The male was charged with fail to comply with recognizance and held for a bail hearing.

Animals left in Unattended Vehicles

Chatham-Kent Police responded to 3 complaints of animals left unattended in vehicles on Monday. In all three cases the animals were safe and no charges laid. However charges are possible depending on the circumstances of the investigations, and people are encouraged to think of the safety of their animals. If a animal is observed in a dangerous situation please contact the Chatham-Kent Police or the OSPCA.

Family Dispute

Date: Monday, June 23, 2014 – 9:00pm
Barrie Police attended the area of Edgehill Drive and Miller Drive at 5:00pm in response to a family dispute. On police arrival it was determined a 60 year male left the residence. Police were concerned for male’s well being and the K-9 unit was utilized. K-9 searched area with negative results. The male was later located and checked by Royal Victoria hospital as a precaution.

Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Date: Monday, June 22, 2015 – 11:00am
On the 22nd of June 2014 at approximately 11am, police were contacted regarding an assault that had taken place in the downtown area. Information was received that a group of males were involved in a verbal exchange at which time one of the males walked away from the exchange. It was at this time a male (victim) walked down the sidewalk and was walking in behind the male suspect. The male suspect took his elbow and drove it in the face of the victim causing the victim to fall backwards, smash his head on the sidewalk and was knocked unconscious.

The suspect was last seen running north on Bayfield. The victim was transported to RVH and treated for non life threatening head injuries.

Through Police investigation officers were able to identify the suspect and broadcasted to other uniform officers that the male suspect was wanted in connection to the offence.

On the 23rd of June 2014 at approximately 11 am, the male suspect was observed in the downtown area by a uniform officer. The officer immediately approached the male and arrested him for the offence of assault causing bodily harm.

The 34 year old Barrie male was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

Kevin HARPER – Flight From Police, Drive While Suspended, etc.

(HOWICK, ON) – A quick call to police by an alert witness has led to the arrest of two males. Just before 8:00 a.m. on June 19, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call of a suspicious male that was seen crawling out of a ditch near a Gough Road residence. The witness maintained a visual on the suspect male and watched him enter a residence on Gough Road. Huron County OPP officers along with officers from the West Region Canine Team and the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the scene and were able to locate and arrest a 20 year old male suspect inside the residence.

Meanwhile, a short distance away on Mud Lake Line officers encountered a second suspicious male. Police observed the suspect driving a Kawasaki sport bike very slowly down the fresh gravel road. The male was having difficulty keeping his motorcycle upright and at a steady speed. Officers signaled for the driver to stop however the driver failed to stop and proceeded to drive through a stop sign at the intersection of Mud Lake Line and Harriston Road.

The driver attempted to evade police however the driver was having difficulty on the gravel roadway and the engine appeared to sputter out on the driver.

The driver ended up stopping for police and was arrested on the spot. A check on the motorcycle revealed the 2012 Kawasaki Ninja was reported stolen from the region of Waterloo. Further checks revealed the driver held a suspended driver’s licence.

Kevin HARPER, 22 years of age from Harriston has been charged with Flight from Police, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Driving While Under Suspension, Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. He has a court appearance scheduled for Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on August 21, 2014.

Jacob MCDONALD, 20 years of age from Brockton has been charged with Trespassing and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He has a court date scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Wingham on August 21, 2014.

Stolen Pickup Involved In Crash – Kevin HARPER Charged

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Saturday morning June 21, 2014, shortly before 10:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision along Line 87 West of Hwy 23, involving a Chevrolet 2500 4×4 pickup truck that had struck a tree.

An observant citizen observed a young male near the truck and provided police with the male’s description. While heading to the collision location, an officer observed this male walking south bound on Hwy 23. The officer spoke with the male and made additional checks into the ownership of the pickup truck. It was determined that the pickup truck had been stolen from the Town of Arthur and that a business in which the keys to the pickup truck were stored had also been broken into.

Kevin HARPER (22) of the Town of Minto has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

– Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

– Break and enter a place, commit an indictable offence

He was held for a bail hearing scheduled for Monday June 23, 2014 in Stratford Court.

Prior to the pickup truck being stolen, an 18 foot, black coloured, “Beaver Tail”, utility trailer had been attached to the truck. The trailer, which has not yet been recovered, was carrying a large tank used to coat concrete foundations with tar.
