David JEDRIAK Facing Numerous Charges

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver facing multiple charges after traffic stop.

On December 14, 2024, at 1:55 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while performing a traffic enforcement initiative on Longwoods Road in Southwest Middlesex, observed a vehicle travelling in excess of the 50km/h speed limit.  

The vehicle turned into an address on Haggerty Road, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver turned into the address in an effort to elude police.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, David JEDRIAK, a 58-year-old of Wardsville, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Trespassing at Night

·      Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

·      Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 4, 2025.

Kyle SYMONS Was Arrested

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver charged as a result of a traffic stop in Southwest Middlesex.

On November 17, 2024, at 4:42 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) performed a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Melbourne Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Kyle SYMONS, a 31-year-old of Strathroy-Caradoc, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 16, 2025.

Plane Crash


(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON)
 – Three individuals were transported to hospital following a plane crash in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP, including Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and local fire services, responded to a report of a plane crash on Olde Drive, between Springfield Road and Melbourne Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the pilot was attempting to land the small aircraft, when the plane crashed and flipped over upon landing.

Four occupants were on board of the small plane at the time of the crash. Three individuals were transported by EMS to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the fourth individual was uninjured.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified and will continue with the investigation.

Angel RODRIGUEZ – Drunk Driving

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic complaint.

On October 27, 2024, at 1:54 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Appin Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex for the report of a traffic complaint from a member of the public.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Angel RODRIGUEZ, a 32-year-old of Lambton County, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 26, 2024.

David STINSMAN – Facing Numerous Charges

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Stolen vehicle located and recovered in Southwest Middlesex. Driver from Blenheim facing numerous charges including assault police.

On September 15, 2024, at 12:45 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Thames Road at Gentlemen Drive, for the report of a possible location of a stolen vehicle, being tracked by GPS.

Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle stationary on the roadway.

During the investigation the accused assaulted an officer and attempted to flee on foot.

Additional officers on scene were able to catch the suspect and place them under arrest, at which time two additional officers were assaulted.

As a result, David STINSMAN, a 41-year-old of Blenheim, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code (three counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest (three counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)

The accused was held for bail.

The vehicle had previously been reported stolen out of Chatham-Kent.

The officers did not require medical attention.

Angel DALEY – Impaired Driving

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to charges.

On August 27, 2024, at 8:32 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a restaurant on Main Street in Glencoe, Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was placed under arrest.

As a result, Angel DALEY, a 36-year-old of Tupperville, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 7, 2024.

Break & Enter – Kenneth SHOEMAKER & Chrystal GAGNIER

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Two individuals from Chatham arrested and charged after shop on rural property was broken into.

On August 2, 2024, at 8:37 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a farm property on Trillium Drive in Southwest Middlesex for the report of a break and enter in progress.

Reports indicated two unknown individuals broke into a shop on the property. The motorcycle they were operating broke down, at which time they fled on foot and entered a cornfield.

Members of the OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were dispatched to the area to assist with the investigation.

Two individuals were located and taken into custody.

As a result, Kenneth SHOEMAKER, a 44-year-old, and Chrystal GAGNIER, a 38-year-old, both of Chatham, have been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 10, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – An individual is deceased following a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Southwest Middlesex County.

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Southwest Middlesex Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Longwoods Road near Sassafras Road, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

The collision involved a lone motorcycle which left the roadway, collided with a tree, and ignited on fire.

A 41-year-old from Leamington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Middlesex OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.

Longwoods Road between Sassafras Road and Dogwood Road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation. The road has since been reopened.

Another Spousal Assault

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex County, has charged an individual following an intimate partner violence investigation.

On April 10, 2024, at 10:49 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address in Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a disturbance.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old of Middlesex County, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Assault – Spousal

·      Mischief – Domestic (three counts)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges.

Another Strangling – Name Withheld To Protect Abuser From Public Backlash #EndTheAbuse

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex County, has charged an individual following an intimate partner violence investigation.

On April 4, 2024, at 1:12 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address in Southwest Middlesex, for the report of an assault in progress.

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old of Middlesex County, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle

·      Assault – Spousal

·      Assault

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges.

Police Cruiser Involved In Hit & Run – Details Released

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Stolen vehicle located in Southwest Middlesex strikes cruiser as it flees the scene.

On April 1, 2024, at 8:01 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol observed a stolen vehicle parked at a business on Longwoods Road in Wardsville, Southwest Middlesex.

The officer blocked the vehicle with the cruiser, however, was struck as the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Due to public safety concerns, the officer did not engage in a pursuing the vehicle.

The officer was not injured and the cruiser sustained minimal damage.

A suspicious person was observed by police a short time later in the area, at which time, investigation revealed they had previously been a passenger in the vehicle.

As a result, Jamie LABRECHE, a 38-year-old of Windsor, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

·      Disobeying Order of Court

The accused was held for bail.

The vehicle, previously reported stolen out of Windsor, was located abandoned in the City of London.

The investigation is continuing.

John BOUGHNER Tasered By Police While Running Away

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Middlesex County OPP officers used a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) to assist with arresting an individual with a weapon.

On March 5, 2024, at 11:36 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Canine, and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), were dispatched to an address in Newbury, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex for the report of a disturbance.

As police arrived on scene, an individual was observed running from the property with an edged weapon in their hand.

Officers deployed a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) to assist in effecting an arrest.

The individual was transported to hospital as a precaution. Officers were uninjured.

As a result, John BOUGHNER, a 39-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on May 6, 2024.

Gryffyn JOHNS – Drunk Driving

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle leaves roadway and enters ditch.

On February 22, 2024, at 10:05 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Main Street in Glencoe, Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a single vehicle that left the roadway and entered the ditch.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Gryffyn JOHNS, an 18-year-old of Port Franks, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 26, 2024.
