Armed Home Invasion In Exeter – 2 Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a robbery that took place on December 7th, 2024, at a residential address on Carling Street in the Town of Exeter in the Municipality of South Huron. 

On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, just after 1:00 p.m., two individuals attended a residence and proceeded to assault and steal money from the occupants inside the home.  

The victims identified the two suspects who were later located by police and taken into custody. Charges have been laid against the following individuals:

Brandon MAYHEW, 32 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences:

–      Robbery with a Weapon,

–      Assault,

–      Assault with a Weapon,

–      Mischief, Destroys or Damages Property,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death,

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,

–      Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose,

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – (two counts).

The accused was processed at the Huron OPP detachment and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody.

Krista BARTLETT, 47 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences:

–      Robbery with a Weapon,

–      Assault,

–      Mischief, Destroys or Damages Property,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death,

–      Assault with a Weapon.

The accused was processed at the Huron OPP detachment and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody.

Andrew DELANGE – Assault, Hit & Run, Fraud

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A tow operator was injured on December 4th after being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene in the Municipality of South Huron.

On December 4th, 2024, just before 5:30 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a truck vs pedestrian collision on Airport Line between Huron Street and Thames Road East in South Huron.

Emergency responders located one person who had been struck by a truck that fled from the scene. The injured tow operator was transported by Huron EMS to a local hospital where their injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

The involved vehicle was last observed leaving the scene northbound on Airport Line.

The police investigation revealed that the tow operator had removed the suspect vehicle from the ditch earlier, where it had been stuck in the snow. While waiting for payment, the driver of the suspect vehicle sped off and struck the tow operator, launching them into the ditch.

The OPP identified the involved vehicle and driver that fled the scene. Several criminal charges were laid against the vehicle driver on December 6th.

Andrew DELANGE, 21 years of age from London has been charged with:

–      Dangerous Operation,

–      Assault With a Weapon,

–      Failure to Stop After an Accident,

–      Fraud Under $5,000.

The accused was arrested and charged on December 6th, then released with a court appearance scheduled in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 27th, 2025.

David KOOLE – Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with criminal driving offences following a traffic complaint on December 2nd, 2024, in the Municipality of South Huron. 

Just after 2:20 p.m. on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, Huron County OPP officers received a complaint about a vehicle being driven by a suspected impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle shortly after and conducted a traffic stop on Huron Street West in South Huron. Police spoke to the driver and determined that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

South Huron Drug Bust – RYCKMAN & YOUNG

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce OPP CSCU, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Huron County OPP detachment resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Criminal charges have been laid against two South Huron residents.

A drug trafficking investigation in South Huron was initiated by members of the Huron-Perth CSCU which led investigators to an address in South Huron.

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, a search warrant was executed on Main Street in the Town of Exeter which resulted in the seizure of several types of illegal drugs and related property. Two individuals have been arrested and charged.

The total value of drugs seized is estimated at $3,945. The total value of seized property including an imitation firearm pellet gun is $1,400.

Kyle RYCKMAN, 29 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine,
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (Fentanyl),
  • Fail to Comply with Probation.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on January 13, 2025.

Robert YOUNG, 58 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine,
  • Possession of Opioid (Clonazepam).

Chad WILCOX – Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an Impaired driving offence following a traffic stop in a “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” (R.I.D.E.) check on November 24, 2024, in the Municipality of South Huron. 

Just after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, Huron County OPP stopped a vehicle on Huron Street at Morrison Line in South Huron.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Chad WILCOX, 30 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

Charles BREMNER – Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with several criminal offences following a traffic complaint on November 24, 2024, in the Municipality of South Huron. 

Just after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, Huron County OPP officers received a complaint about a vehicle being driven in a concerning manner on Hern Line in South Huron. Officers located the vehicle shortly after and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke to the driver and determined that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Charles BREMNER, 39 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was additionally charged under the Cannabis Control Act and Liquor Licence Control Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 6th, 2025.

Nickolas ELLIOTT – Impaired Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with criminal offences following a traffic complaint in the Municipality of South Huron on September 27, 2024. 

In the early morning hours of September 27, 2024, Huron County OPP were contacted about a suspicious vehicle and occupants. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot and made contact with the vehicle occupants. The officer arrested the driver for impaired operation.

Nickolas ELLIOTT, 33 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs,

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 28 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Oleg KACHMAR Was Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Windsor resident with several criminal offences following a traffic stop in the Municipality of South Huron on August 11, 2024. 

Just before 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, Huron County OPP were patrolling on Bluewater Highway in South Huron when they observed a motor vehicle being driven erratically on Bluewater Highway. Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the driver. The officer discovered the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and subsequently arrested them for impaired operation. The accused was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment in Grand Bend at which time the accused assaulted a police officer during processing. The accused further refused to provide the required breath samples and was additionally charged for refusal.

Oleg KACHMAR, 37 years-of-age from Windsor has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs,

–      Assault Peace Officer,

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA). 

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 16 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Meth Bust – Taylor GREEN Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A traffic stop conducted on August 21, 2024, in South Huron resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, and offence-related property.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, just after 9:30 p.m., Huron OPP officers were patrolling on London Road in the Municipality of South Huron when they observed a vehicle fail to stop for a posted stop sign on Crediton Road. A traffic stop was conducted, and a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, and crack cocaine. Other seized items included a digital scale, packaging material and a cellular phone. A quantity of cash was also seized.

Taylor GREEN, 23 years of age from London has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking – (two counts),
  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drugs.

The accused was processed, then later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on September 30, 2024.

Matthew ROBERTS – Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop just after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday August 3rd, 2024. 

On August 3rd, Huron County OPP officers observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Grand Bend Line in the Municipality of South Huron. The officer noticed that the vehicle driver activated the vehicle high beams several times at the approaching police cruiser. The vehicle was then stopped by police on Grand Bend Line.

Police spoke to the driver and determined they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment in Grand Bend for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The accused’ breath samples resulted in readings exceeding the legal limit.

Matthew ROBERTS, 32 years of age from London has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 9th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Sean WHEELER – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London Ontario resident with several criminal offences following a series of traffic complaints and a fail-to-remain collision on Saturday July 20th, 2024. 

Police were notified of a collision in the Village of Grand Bend, Municipality of Lambton Shores at approximately noon on July 20th, 2024. One of the involved vehicles failed to remain at the scene of the collision and was last observed travelling northbound from Grand Bend into Huron County. Huron OPP officers patrolled the area and further received several traffic complaints involving the same vehicle. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle on Bluewater Highway in South Huron and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver showed obvious signs of impairment and was placed under arrest. Officers transported the accused to the Middlesex OPP detachment in Lucan for breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician which resulted in breath samples exceeding three times the legal limit.

Sean WHEELER, 28 years of age from London has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Dangerous Operation,

–      Failure to Stop After Accident,

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

–      Driving While Under Suspension,

–      Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released. The accused has a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 19th, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck has claimed the life of a London resident. 

Just after 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County OPP, Middlesex OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services, South Huron Fire Department, and Granton Fire Department responded to the intersection of Perth Road 164 and Sunshine Line in the Municipality of South Huron after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a collision.

Upon arrival, emergency services located both vehicles and discovered that the driver of the pickup truck was deceased.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Sections of Perth Road 164 and Sunshine Line were closed for several hours, but have since re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the collision is being investigated. 

The deceased is a 28-year-old resident of London.

52 Year Old From South Huron Arrested – Name Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop on Monday April 8th, 2024. 

On April 8th, just before 10:00 p.m., Huron County OPP officers were provided information by a concerned member of the public that a vehicle driver may under the influence at an address on Main Street North in the Town of Exeter, Municipality of South Huron.

Police attended the location and conducted a traffic stop on the subject vehicle. Officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The breath tests resulted in readings which exceeded two times the legal limit.

Michelle TRUMBLE, 52-years-of-age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 13th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Another Drunk Driver In South Huron – Name Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On March 15, 2024, at 6:53 P.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting Reduce Impaired Driving (RIDE) check on Bronson Line in South Huron.

The officers observed a vehicle avoid the RIDE check and officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver provided a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) which registered a fail. The driver was transported to the Huron County OPP Detachment for further testing.

Scott Hunter, 36-year-old from Middlesex County was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on April 29, 2024.

Exeter Evacuation & Massive Response Unfounded #OOPS #WantedOvertime

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Multiple Huron County OPP officers attended an address in Exeter, South Huron, in relation to an incident.

On March 15, 2024, at 11:28 a.m., members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County OPP Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine, OPP Crisis Negotiators and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), were dispatched to an address on Main Street South in Exeter, South Huron, for the report of a possible hostage situation.

Main Street South between John Street and James Street were shut down and area residences and businesses were evacuated for public safety.

With the assistance of the South Huron Fire Department, the South Huron Recreation Centre was opened up to accommodate the displaced individuals.

Five individuals from within the apartment exited without issue.

The situation was unfounded, no charges have been laid and all resources have cleared.
