$150,000 In Stolen Property Recovered

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 29, 2022, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant on a property located in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, stolen property, and other offence related property valued at over $150,000.

The investigation remains ongoing by member of the CSCU, and further updates will be provided as they become available.

Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place last night near Goderich.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on July 30, 2022, Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the Goderich Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Golf Course Road west of Lucknow Line (Huron County #1).

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged compact vehicle that left the roadway and ended up in field on the north side of the road.  All five occupants were transported to hospital for treatment. 

One of the occupants later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.

The deceased, a passenger in the vehicle, has been identified as Euan MUIR, 18 years of age from Goderich. 

The other occupants were all treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from hospital.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Golf Course Road has now re-opened for public travel.

Goat Vs Vehicle Collision – 16 Year Old Injured

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On July 28, 2022, at 9:56 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a report of a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Sixth Line just west of Argyle Street South in Caledonia. The motor vehicle involved had struck a goat that in turn struck a 16-year-old passerby that was attempting to move the goat off the road.

The pedestrian was transported to an out-of-town hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The goat was located deceased in the westbound lane ditch.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

OPP continue to investigate the collision.

Katherine UPSHALL Arrested Again #TCB #StandYourGround

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron County resident with several criminal charges following a recent traffic related investigation in Wingham.

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Huron County OPP officers were patrolling in Wingham when they encountered a motorcycle that was being driven in an erratic manner. One of the officers attempted to stop the motorcycle however was unable to maintain a visual on the bike. Shortly after officers received a call about a suspicious person that just attempted to hide a motorcycle behind a residence located on Charles Street. 

Police arrived at the residence and located the un-plated motorcycle and the driver hiding in a shed on the property. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. Upon a search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. 

Katherine UPSHALL, 47 years of age of No Fixed Address has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Operation While Prohibited – 5 counts, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Another Armed Robbery

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate an early morning robbery of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) that took place last week near Mount Carmel.

On July 15, 2022, at 3:47 a.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a 911 call for assistance at a residence located on Bronson Line after learning two suspects attended the property to steal an ATV. 

When the family members were awakened to the sound of the ATV engine starting up in the garage they quickly went to the garage where they observed two masked suspects attempting to steal their ATV. The suspects brandished a knife and fled the scene, one on the ATV, the other on foot. 

Several officers including an OPP Canine Unit attended the scene and began an extensive search for the suspects.  Approximately one hour later police received a report that a sport utility vehicle had been stolen from a nearby residence. Police started patrolling for the suspect vehicle and shortly after police located the suspect vehicle in Parkhill. Police converged on the vehicle and were able to arrest one of the suspects without incident. 

The stolen ATV was also recovered. 

Leslie DENTELBECK, 30 years of age from Quinte West has been charged with: Robbery with a Weapon, Disguise with Intent, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Operation While Prohibited and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 28, 2022.

31 Year Old Facing Second Degree Murder Charge

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 31-year-old from the City of London with murder in connection with a death investigation in the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

Koree DOCKSTATER, 31-years-old, has been charged with Second-Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Members of OPP, the Munsee-Delaware First Nation Police Service and the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police Service began the investigation on July 19, 2022, following the discovery of a deceased individual on Jubilee Road.

The deceased has been identified as Shaniqua HENRY, 27-years-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

The investigation by the Middlesex OPP Major Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), is ongoing in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.

20 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving – Name Released

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged Dublin resident with Impaired Driving following a traffic stop on Perth Road 131 in the Township of Perth East.  

On July 28, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Perth OPP responded to a call about a vehicle that was parked partially in a ditch with its 4-ways on.

During the investigation, the officer noted that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Owen CORBETT, 20, of Dublin, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

41 Year Old From Harriston Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On July 27, 2022, at approximately 10:23 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped and investigated a motor vehicle that was driving slowly and had crossed over the fog line multiple times on Perth Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Upon speaking with a driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver had recently used drugs. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.   

As a result, Jamie TRAFFORD, 41, of Harriston, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Impaired Speeding Driver Arrested – Name Released

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 25, 2022 at approximately 11:00 p.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 6. It was reported that a dark coloured sedan was being operated in an erratic manner.

While patrolling for the vehicle on Highway 6, officers observed a dark coloured sedan traveling well above the posted speed limit and stopped the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, Nicholas Kenneth DREGER, 25-years-old of Southgate Township has been charged with Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to the Criminal Code and with Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Owen Sound, at a later date.

Fatal Collision Near Goderich

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers remain at the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place late last night northeast of Goderich.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on July 30, 2022, Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the Goderich Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Golf Course Road west of Lucknow Line (Huron County #1).

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged compact vehicle with five occupants. The occupants were all transported to hospital and one of the occupants was later pronounced deceased. The other four occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are now on scene assisting with the collision investigation. 

Golf Course Road is currently closed between Lucknow Line and Council Line.

Please use an alternate route to avoid delays.

The name of the deceased will be released pending next-of-kin notification.

Violent Home Invasion #TCB #StandYourGround

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid Robbery charges against a group of teenagers following an incident that took place earlier this week in Goderich.

On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at approximately 5:46 p.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a Bruce Street East address to investigate a disturbance that took place. Upon arrival police met with an adult victim that had sustained minor injuries.

The subsequent investigation determined a group of teenagers attended the residence looking for retribution form a previous incident. An argument ensued which then led to the group of teens physically attacking the victim. After assaulting the victim, the co-accused stole the victim’s cell phone.

Five teenagers from Goderich, one from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh and one from Forest are now facing a Robbery charge.

They have all been released from custody with an upcoming court date.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(SOUTHGATE TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has died as a result of a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Southgate Township.  

On July 26, 2022 at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service and the Wellington North Fire Services responded to a report of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle on Southgate Sideroad 49, Southgate Township.

The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene, after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. The cyclist has been identified as Marie BEARINGER, 20-years-old, of Southgate Township.

Vehicle Rollover Leads To Arrest Of KUEPFER

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On July 25, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 131 in the Township of Perth East.  

During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer could smell a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath.

As a result, Harold KUEPFER, 40, of Mitchell, was arrested and charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. The accused was issued two Provincial Offence Notices for the other two charges.

Teeswater Teen Caught Going 133 in an 80

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A teenager from the Teeswater area has been charged with Stunt Driving following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

Just before noon hour on Thursday, July 21, 2022, a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling westbound on Howick-Turnberry Road when he observed a sport utility vehicle travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed. A speed reading was obtained with a RADAR device and it measured the vehicle’s speed at 133 km/h in the posted 80 km/h zone. 

A traffic stop was conducted and a 17-year-old driver from Teeswater was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform a Stunt – Excessive Speed. The involved vehicle was impounded and the driver had his driver’s licence immediately suspended for 30 days. The driver will also have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

24 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On July 23, 2022, just after midnight, an officer from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 4 in the Township of North Perth.

When the officer approached the vehicle, they observed a lone male. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP detachment for further testing.

Eric WELLS, 24-year-old of Palmerston, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
