Fatal Collision Update – Both Deceased Identified

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A second person has died as a result of a motor vehicle collision that occurred in Mapleton Township.

On July 25, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a pickup truck at the intersection of Wellington Road 8 and Wellington Road 10. 

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was airlifted to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where they were later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Robert GEFFS, 76-years-old, and the passenger has been identified as Mark ALBRECHT, 29-years-old. Both were from the Tiverton area.

Rollover Leads To Impaired Charge

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Grand Bend resident following a single motor vehicle collision that took place earlier this year in March.

Just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, Huron County OPP, Lambton EMS and the Zurich Fire Department responded to a report of a roll-over crash that took place on Blackbush Line. Upon arrival first responders attended to the injured driver. While interacting with the driver the investigating officer made some observations that led him to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. 

The driver was unable to provide breath samples at the time due to his injuries sustained in the crash. As a result, blood samples were later analyzed by the Centre of Forensic Sciences, and they indicated the driver’s Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) was above the legal limit. 

Kyle CORMACK, 26 years of age from Grand Bend has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 8, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

No Muffler Leads To Impaired Charge

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A resident of Mitchell is facing an Impaired Operation and a No Muffler charge following a traffic stop in Exeter last week.

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at approximately 2:17 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was parked at the intersection of Airport Road and Dashwood Road when he observed a jeep travelling on Dashwood Road into Exeter without a muffler.

The officer followed the jeep into Exeter and a traffic stop was conducted on Thames Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer noted the driver had also consumed some alcohol so a roadside test was conducted. The driver complied with the test and registered a fail. 

The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Lucan OPP Detachment for breath tests with the Intoxilizer Technician. Further testing was conducted and the driver registered two breath samples above the legal limit. 

Devon SCHINBEIN, 25 years of age from Mitchell has been charged with Operation While Impaired (80 Plus) and No Muffler – Motor Vehicle. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 19, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Impaired Driver Vs Parked Vehicle

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged Thames Centre resident with several driving related charges following a two-vehicle crash in Goderich this past weekend. 

At approximately 10:53 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling on Blake Street East in Goderich when he observed a compact car collide head-on with a parked vehicle. The driver was not injured in the crash however while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying some signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing.

Ultimately the driver failed to provide breath samples to the Intoxilizer Technician thus he was charged accordingly. 

Graham PROCTOR, 39 years of age, from Thames Centre has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Failure to Comply with Demand, and Dangerous Operation. The accused was later released with a court appearance scheduled for August 29, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Arrest At RIDE -SCHLUETER

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On July 18, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Road 145 in the Township of Perth East.

Upon speaking with a driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired. The officer conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) on the driver. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations center for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.   

As a result, Dennis SCHLUETER, 38, of Perth East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of a Schedule III Substance

–      Drive a motor vehicle, no plates

–      Operate a motor vehicle with no insurance

–      Drive motor vehicle – improper license

–      Drive motor vehicle, no permit

–      Class G1 license holder, drive unlawful hour

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Fatal Collision – Deceased Identified

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person has died as a result of a collision in Perth County yesterday.

On July 25, 2022 just after 12:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Line 29, at Road 111, in the Township of Perth East. A passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle had collided, causing the passenger vehicle to roll.

The deceased has been identified as Joanne BELL, 74, of Vernon, British Columbia.

The investigation is ongoing, and members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting Perth County OPP with the investigation.

The area surrounding Line 29 and Road 111 was closed for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation, but has since reopened.

Deborah HUXTED – Impaired Driving

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – A Kitchener resident has been charged with impaired driving after Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision.  

On July 16, 2022, just before 11:00 a.m.., officers were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 86 in Perth County.  

Through the course of the investigation, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired. The driver and two passengers were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

As a result, Deborah HUXTED, 58, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – RICHARDSON

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person was arrested and charged Sunday for being impaired and in possession of a stolen vehicle, after a tip from the public.

On July 24, 2022, just after 9:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver in a vehicle at a business on Ontario Road, in the Municipality of West Perth.

When police arrived on scene, the driver was showing signs of impairment and was arrested. During the investigation, the accused was found to have just stolen a vehicle and was in possession of other stolen property and drugs.

Tyler RICHARDSON, 30, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

–      Possession of a Credit Card

–      Failure to Comply with Release Order

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

–      Theft of Motor Vehicle

–      Failure to Comply with Probation Order

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Fatal Glider Collision

(SOUTHGATE TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has died as a result of an aircraft collision that occurred in Grey County on July 25, 2022.

On July 25, 2022, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an aircraft collision in a field located off of Southgate Road 4. The Grey Bruce OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, Grey County Emergency Services and the Dundalk Fire Department attended the scene. 

The occupant of the ultralight glider was pronounced deceased at scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.  

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the crash. Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122

Fatal Collision – Name Of Deceased Released

(ELGINFIELD, ON) – One person is deceased following a single-vehicle crash on Elginfield Road east of Roman Line, southeast of Lucan.

On July 24, 2022, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Middlesex detachment responded to a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway, striking a home on Elginfield Road. The homeowners were not injured in the collision.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to hospital in London, where the victim succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased is identified as Jadwiga PIASECKI, 69-years-old of Bayfield.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for a later date.

Roadways that had been closed in the area to facilitate the ongoing investigation reopened to traffic at approximately 2:00 a.m. on July 25, 2022.

Break & Enter – MONTGOMERY

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On July 20, 2022, at 11:08 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence on Proton Street South in the Township of Southgate.

Officers arrived on scene and placed the accused under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Derek MONTGOMERY, 48 years-of-age, from the Township of Southgate with break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Farm Equipment Vs Vehicle – One Sent To Hospital

(HOWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been charged after a collision yesterday between a vehicle and a large piece of farm equipment.

On July 19, 2022, just after 6:00 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and Howick Fire Department responded to a collision on Harriston Road, in Howick Township. The collision was between a passenger vehicle and an agricultural sprayer.

One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A 20-year-old driver from Wroxeter has been charged with:

–       Careless Driving

The accused was issued a provincial offence notice.

Fatal Collision – Name Released

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 16, 2022, at approximately 11:04 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Tara Fire Department, and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Highway 21 in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. They have been identified as Troy SISCO, 53 years-of-age from Owen Sound.

The Grey Bruce OPP are continuing the investigation with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME).

Assault In Meaford – PAYNE Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) On July 13, 2022, at 10:53 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an allegation of an assault in the Municipality of Meaford.

An investigation was conducted, and as a result one individual was placed under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Ayden PAYNE, 27 years-of-age from the Municipality of Meaford with assault.

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

WARD Facing Numerous Charges

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) On July 14, 2022, at 5:36 p.m., a Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting proactive patrols when they attempted to stop a motor vehicle.

The driver fled the scene but was located at a local business a short time later. The driver of the motor vehicle was placed under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Denver WARD, 24 years-of-age from Grey Highlands with the following offences:

·        Flight from peace officer

·        Take motor vehicle without consent

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Careless driving

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

·        Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

·        Possess unmarked cigarettes

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.
