(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed Hwy 35 for a serious collision involving a pickup truck and passenger vehicle.
On November 05, 2023 at approximately 3:05 pm, officers responded, alongside with Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and passenger vehicle.
Four patients were sent to Toronto Hospitals for treatment, one of which was airlifted.
The highway was closed from Powells Road to Country Lane Road for approximately 7 hours for the duration of an investigation with the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists.
On April 04, 2024 the driver and single occupant of the pick-up truck was arrested and charged with additional charges related to the investigation.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Robbery Team, along with the Forensic Identification Unit, have identified a 16-year-old male suspect in relation to a robbery that occurred January 8, 2024, at a jewellery store in Fairview Park.
The youth, who is from the Greater Toronto Area, is currently in custody in Toronto on other unrelated charges. A warrant has been issued to have the youth returned to Waterloo Region to be charged with Robbery with a Weapon and Disguise with Intent.
The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ Robbery Team.

Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 147 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Seven person was arrested and four on an outstanding warrant.
Man Arrested for Fraud CK24014710
On February 2, 2024, police began a fraud investigation after receiving a complaint a stolen cheque had been deposited into an account at a bank in Blenheim.
Through investigation, the officer identified the man as the account holder and formed ground to charge him. When he was not located a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On April 3, 2024, at 11:48 a.m., the 32-year-old Blenheim man attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned himself in to the police. He was arrested and charged with fraud and possession of stolen property. He was released with a future court date.

On November 16, 2023, the woman was arrested and released with conditions and scheduled court date. When the woman failed to make a scheduled court appearance related to this investigation a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.
On April 3, 2024, at 12:55 p.m., the woman attended Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and turned herself in to the police.
The 20-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and released with a new court date of April 29, 2024. She is currently facing the following charges: break and enter, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

At 5:18 p.m., while on general patrol, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.
The officer learned the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant because of a March 28, 2024, bail violation investigation, where the man was found violating a curfew condition.
The 25-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: possession of stolen property and failing to comply with a release order.
Man Arrested for Obstructing the Police CK24014813
On April 4, 2024, at 1:00 a.m., officers responded to Taylor Trail in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.
Upon arrival, officers located the man. The man provided his name to the officers, which was found to be false. Once the identity was positively confirmed, officer learned the man was wanted on several warrants.
The 44-year-old Chatham-Kent man was transported to police headquarters where he was held pending a bail hearing. He is currently facing the following charges: failing to attend court, obstruct a peace officer, two counts of trespassing at night and two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
Woman Arrested for Unlawful in a Dwelling CK24014820
On April 4, 2024, at 3:32 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at the Via Rail on Queen Street in Chatham.
Officers arrived and located the woman. The woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to a February 24, 2024, investigation in Charring Cross.
The 44-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she was released with conditions and a future court date of April 29, 2024. She was charged with being unlawful in a dwelling.

Last night at approximately 7:27 p.m., members of Community Patrol and the Traffic Management Unit conducted a R.I.D.E program on Longwoods Road in Chatham.
As a result, 109 vehicles were checked, one test was administered and one Provincial Offences Notice as issued.
Chatham-Kent, Ontario: In November of 2023, as part of an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) executed a Criminal Code Search warrant at a residence in Chatham.
Through that investigation an arrest warrant was issued for a 55-year-old man of that residence.
On Saturday, March 30th, 2024, the man was located, arrested, and charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and Making Child Pornography Available.
The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two youths in connection to the attempted robbery of a vehicle with a firearm in Kitchener.
On April 4, 2024, at approximately 6:20 p.m., three male suspects approached a female victim as she entered her car, a white Lexus, on Belmont Avenue West. One of the males brandished a firearm, and the males unsuccessfully attempted to force the victim from her vehicle. When approached by witnesses, the males fled the area on foot.
Officers from Neighbourhood Policing, the Emergency Response Team, and the Direct Action Response Team responded to the area and located and arrested two suspects behind a business on King Street South near Union Boulevard.
A silver firearm was recovered by police at the time of the arrest.
The two males, a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, both from Kitchener, have been jointly charged with attempt robbery with a firearm and disguise with intent. The 15-year-old was charged was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
The third suspect remains outstanding and is described as a Black male in his late teens with a thin build.
The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Robbery Team.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit and Special Victim’s Unit is investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred in Waterloo.
In March 2024, police received a report of a sexual assault that took place in January 2024.
A female reported that she was walking through Waterloo Park in the area of Albert Street and Central Street at approximately 11 p.m. when she was approached by an unknown male and sexually assaulted.
The victim reported non-life-threatening physical injuries as a result of the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male with tan skin, approximately 30 years old, with dark hair, a beard, and a large build.
The investigation is ongoing.

LONDON, ON (April 4, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section are investigating the death of a man involved in a fight last week in the downtown core.
On Thursday, March 28, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., two men began to physically fight one another. As a result of the interaction, a man was injured and transported to the hospital by paramedic services.
The two men were not known to each other.
On April 2, 2024, the victim, 21-year-old Malik Nathaniel Edwards, of London, died in hospital.
The investigation was reassigned to members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section.
A London man was arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

LONDON, ON (April 4, 2024) – A London man is facing charges following an investigation by the London Police Service Human Trafficking Unit.
In early July of 2023, a woman was contacted in relation to sexual services she had advertised online. A suspect male agreed to meet the woman at an agreed-upon location in relation to the services advertised.
A short time after their initial interaction, the suspect male befriended the woman and invited her to stay with him at his residence. The man isolated the woman from friends and family, controlled access to her money and began arranging sexual interactions between her and other men.
In December of 2023, the suspect male rented a room at a hotel in the south end of the city and demanded the woman provide sexual services that she had not agreed upon. The suspect male sexually assaulted the woman and left the room.
In early February of 2024, the victim contacted the London Police Service, and members of the Human Trafficking Unit commenced an investigation.
On Wednesday April 3, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the suspect was arrested.
As a result of the investigation, Malcom Thomas Ferguson, 39, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
Obtain sexual services for consideration;
Material benefit from sexual services;
Exercise control;
Sexual assault;
Forcible confinement; and,
Criminal harassment by repeated communication.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to re-appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

A Hamilton couple face more than two dozen charges following a series of Guelph residential break-ins while the homeowners were sleeping. Similar break-ins were also reported in Hamilton, Wellington County and in Niagara Region.
On March 24, four residences in south Guelph were entered in the early morning hours while the owners were sleeping. An Audi SUV was stolen from one of the homes, and property from the Audi was later discovered near an abandoned Toyota SUV which had been stolen during a break-in at a Hamilton home.
Members of the Guelph Police Break Enter Auto Theft Unit conducted an investigation that led them to a Hamilton address where two parties were observed in the stolen Audi. That information was passed onto Hamilton Police Service who continued the investigation. On March 27th members of the Hamilton Police Service stopped the vehicle and arrested the two occupants.
A 30-year-old Hamilton man and 33-year-old Hamilton woman face a long list of charges and will eventually be returned to Guelph to be arrested in relation to those incidents.
The Guelph Police Service acknowledges the assistance provided by the victims which helped lead to these significant arrests.
“The creation of our Break Enter Auto Theft Unit has greatly increased our ability to investigate these offences which continue to impact our citizens,” said Guelph Police Service Chief Gord Cobey. “In addition to recognizing the hard work of our investigators, it is important that we acknowledge the support of our Police Services Board and Council in making these critical public safety investments to support our rapidly growing city.”
A Milton man faces charges after officers raided businesses in Guelph and Kitchener involved in illegal gaming.
In January, the Guelph Police Service received information from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission about a supposed convenience store in the west end selling illegal lottery tickets. The business was reportedly associated with a website which offered games with names similar to legitimate OLG lottery games.
Investigation determined the business offered no product for sale but had a back room where users could access lottery games via tablets. A second location in downtown Kitchener was also identified.
On Wednesday, search warrants were executed at both locations. Several gaming machines, tablets, lottery receipts and other offence-related property were seized.
A 26-year-old Milton man was arrested at the Guelph location and charged under the Criminal Code with keeping a common gaming house and allowing the registering of bets. He will appear in court May 17.
A 20-year-old Waterloo man was initially arrested on the same charges at the Kitchener location, but was released unconditionally after it was determined he had worked at the business less than two days and believed it to be a legitimate convenience store. The investigation is ongoing.
Pickup stolen in Guelph recovered in Montreal
A Ram pickup stolen from the south end of Guelph last month was one of nearly 600 vehicles recovered during a massive joint operation as they were awaiting export from Canada.
Since December, the investigation dubbed Project Vector resulted in nearly 400 shipping containers being inspected and 598 stolen vehicles recovered. Project Vector was led by the OPP’s Provincial Auto Theft and Towing Team and the Canadian Border Services Agency.
One of the recovered vehicles – a black 2022 Ram pickup – was stolen during the early-morning hours of March 1 from a driveway near Victoria Road South and MacAlister Boulevard. It was one of two newer Rams stolen from the same neighbourhood that morning. The other remains outstanding.
Man arrested for defrauding former employer
A Kitchener man faces several charges related to defrauding his former employer.
On March 25, a loss prevention officer from a business on Stone Road West contacted the Guelph Police Service to report several fraudulent transactions by a former employee. Between November and January, several items were purchased from locations in Waterloo Region or Guelph.
The price tags were then attached to less expensive items and returned to a different store for a refund. As a former employee the accused had knowledge of the stores’ return system as well as details included on receipts. In total the company was defrauded of approximately $1,800.

(RED LAKE, ON) – Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two individuals with drug related charges.
On April 3rd 2024, just after 9:00 p.m., while conducting proactive general patrol on Howey Street, members of the Red Lake OPP Detachment observed a parked motor vehicle with a passenger littering on the highway. Officers conducted a traffic stop and throughout the investigation, a large amount of suspected Oxycodone tabs, Codeine tabs, Crack Cocaine and Cocaine were located and seized. The street value of the drugs, travelling to the First Nation community of Sandy Lake, was approximately $50,000 CAD.
Both occupants were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment.
As a result, Samantha KENT, 49 years old, of Sandy Lake First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
Furthermore, John NOON, 50 years old, of Sandy Lake First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act:

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals for drug trafficking and drug possession related offences.
On April 4, 2024, at about 2:00 p.m., Orillia OPP officers responded to a call for service regarding reports of drug activity at an address in the City of Orillia. Upon arriving at the location officers commenced their investigation and identified several individuals who were present. 5 individuals were arrested and officers continued the investigation. Two individuals were charged at the conclusion of the investigation.

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Rama Police Service have arrested and charged 8 individuals with impaired operation related charges in the past 6 days.
On March 29, 2024, at about 5:45 a.m., officers from Orillia OPP responded to a complaint of a noisy vehicle parked in the area of Walker ave in the City of Orillia. An Officer attended and discovered the vehicle to be running and an individual occupying the drivers seat. As a result of the investigation, it was determined the individual was impaired by alcohol. The individual was then arrested.
As a result, Trevor DASTOUS, 24-years-old, from Orillia has been charged with:
Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Breach of Probation
On March 29, 2024, at about 11:59 p.m., officers from Orillia OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint where it was reported that individual had left an Orillia establishment impaired and drove away in a vehicle. Information led officers to respond to a separate establishment where the vehicle and individual in question were located. The resulting investigation led police to determine the individual was operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
As a result, Bryce FITZROY, 25-years-old, from Washago has been charged with:

On March 31, 2024, at about 2:30 a.m., officers from Rama Police Service were conducting a RIDE program in the area of Rama Rd in Rama. During the RIDE program a vehicle was checked by officers and the driver spoken to. As a result of this interaction the individual operating the vehicle was found to be impaired by alcohol and arrested shortly after.
As a result, Austin BARTON, 21-years-old, from Oro-Medonte has been charged with:

On April 1, 2024, at about 10:36 p.m., officers from Orillia OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the water at the end of West St S in the City of Orillia. Simcoe County Paramedics and Orillia Fire also responded. The uninjured driver of the vehicle was brought shore by paramedics and firefighters. Officers commenced their investigation and determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. This individual was then arrested.
As a result, Cory WILKINSON, 36-years-old, from Orillia has been charged with:

On April 2, 2024, at about 3:25 a.m., officers from Orillia OPP were dispatched to a report of an impaired individual occupying a vehicle at an address in the City of Orillia. Officers responded to find the vehicle had departed. As the investigation continued the vehicle and individual were located at a separate address a short time later. It was determined the individual operating the vehicle was impaired and was subsequently arrested.
As a result a 19-year-old female, from Orillia has been charged with:

On April 3, 2024, at about 2:26 a.m., an officer from the Orillia OPP was conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the area of Highway 11 in the City of Orillia. During this proactive activity the officer conducted a traffic stop. During the traffic stop the officer determined the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol.
As a result, Shane STILLWELL, 29-years-old, from Ramara has been charged with:

All persons in these unrelated investigations are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in April 2024. As a result of these charges each of their driver’s licences has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for a period of 7 days.
Orillia OPP also posted a news release on March 29 2024 in which two persons were arrested and charge for impaired driving offences. In the span of 6 days 8 individuals have been arrested for a total of 15 criminal charges in Orillia OPP and Rama Police Service detachment areas. Impaired driving comes with significant penalties for those arrested and potentially even worse consequences for those behind the wheel and other motorists on our highways. (PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in connection with the death of a 27-year-old male from the Pembroke area.
On July 23, 2023, members of the UOV OPP responded to assist Renfrew County Paramedics at a residence on Pembroke Street East in the City of Pembroke. Officers located Chance TURCOTT deceased at the location.
Following an extensive investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, two people have been arrested.
Donald Wesley SULLIVAN, age 35 of Pembroke, was arrested March 19, 2024, and Taylor HEIN, age 37 of Ottawa, was arrested April 3, 2024. Both have been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:
Manslaughter – Section 236 (b) CC
Trafficking in a schedule I substance – fentanyl – Section 5(1) CDSA
The accused persons remain in custody following bail hearings on April 4, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke. SULLIVAN is scheduled to appear again on April 9, 2024. HEIN is scheduled to make another appearance on April 18, 2024.
