Eric Kettle – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On July 24th at approximately 2:00 p.m., Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint for a possible impaired driver in Kinmount. Officers located the vehicle traveling westbound on Crego Street.

As a result of the traffic stop, the driver, 65-year-old, Eric Kettle from Kinmount was arrested and charged with

–            Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80plus)

The accused received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear in court at a future date.

Robin KIRCHEN Was Arrested

(HALIBURTON, ON) – The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have changed an individual with impaired driving in connection to a stolen vehicle investigation in the Township of Minden Hills.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on St. Germaine Street. While police patrolled the area, a concerned motorist called 9-1-1 to report a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed, matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

At 7:10 p.m., an officer located the vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 35 at Davis Lake Road and conducted a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver, who matched the victim’s description, the officer was also led into an impaired operation investigation. The accused was arrested and charged, and the vehicle was returned undamaged to its rightful owner.

Robin KIRCHEN, a 40-year-old from Peterborough, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Theft of Motor vehicle
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on August 7, 2024.

Cindy MACNEIL Was Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF CRAMAHE, ON) – An officer from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) of a possible prohibited driver.

On July 24, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., police were conducting traffic enforcement on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe. The in-car ALPR system notified the officer regarding a northbound vehicle being associated with a prohibited driver. Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and determined the driver to be prohibited from driving along with other offences.

Cindy MACNEIL. 48-years-old, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

–      Operation while prohibited

–      Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device

–      Drive motor vehicle – no licence.

The accused had their vehicle impounded for 45 days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Repeat Offenders Arrested In ACW – Stolen Property Recovered

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce CSCU, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Aviation Unit, and members of the Huron OPP detachment resulted in the seizure of stolen property with a total value exceeding $9,300.

On Wednesday, July 24th, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a rural residential property on Belfast Road in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW). Four individuals were located at the residence during the warrant execution. Two of these individuals were charged with criminal offences.

As a result of the investigation, police recovered stolen property including a golf cart which had been re-painted, a gas-powered backpack blower, and licence plates.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $9,300.

John VANDIEPENBEEK, 43 years of age from ACW Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (two counts),
  • Fail to Comply with Probation.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Demiah POPERT, 19 years of age from No fixed address has been charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer,
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release.

South Bruce Spousal Abuse #WaitInTheTruck

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 22, 2024, at 1:15 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to an address in South Bruce Peninsula and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation. Police attended and determined that the suspect threatened to kill an ex-partner’s new partner. Investigation revealed historic domestic incidents.

A 22-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

·      Forcible confinement

·      Assault – spousal

·      Uttering threats – cause death of bodily harm – spousal

·      Uttering threats

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim.

(MEAFORD, ON) – On July 21, 2024, at 3:27 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to an address in Meaford and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation. Police attended and determined that the suspect threatened to kill their partner and a child in the residence.

A 37-year-old from Meaford was charged with:

·      Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal

·      Uttering threats

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Kenneth O’KEEFE – Threats, Assault, Etc.

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – An Elliot Lake driver was charged after a dispute at a residence on Washington Crescent.

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to the residence regarding a family dispute. The complainant reported being threatened by a family member. That member then smashed into the complainant’s vehicle when departing in a green pickup truck. Police stopped the pickup truck a short time after on Hirshhorn Avenue. The driver was spoken to who’s breath emanated a strong odour of alcoholic beverage and exhibited signs of impairment. The driver was irate and very belligerent, uncooperative with police, and consequently arrested after refusing to comply with demands.

Kenneth O’KEEFE, 57-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Drive commercial motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 12, 2024.

Russell BURTON – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(NORTH BAY, ON) – One person charged for Impaired Driving.

 On July 23, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Chiswick Line, Chisholm Township involving an All-Terrain-Vehicle (ATV) that was towing a boat. 

Through investigation, Russell BURTON, 48 years-of-age, of Ear Falls Township, was charged with:

  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol
  • Careless Driving

The accused’s drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and they are scheduled to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on August 13, 2024.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Hit & Run

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – One individual is facing charges following a 2-vehicle collision.

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 6, near Caledonia.

The investigation determined that after the collision occurred, the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot. Minor injuries were reported.

Both occupants were located, and one was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Jahvon LASALLE of Brantford has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Stop after Accident

The accused remains in custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 30, 2024.

Tony ALTENBURG – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another person with impaired driving offences after responding to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 South in Bracebridge, ON.

On July 22, 2024, at 6:15 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to concerns from members of the public about the driving behaviour of southbound vehicle on Highway 11 South in Bracebridge. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Lane and subsequently arrested and charged 52-year-old Tony ALTENBURG of Oro-Medonte, ON with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 20, 2024 to answer to his charges. Drivers who are charged with impaired driving offenses also suffer an immediate 90 day drivers license suspension and have their vehicle impounded.

Driver Revs Engine – Police Tow Vehicle

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A driver who caught the attention of a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer in the Municipality of West Perth is now without a vehicle.

Just after 2:00 p.m. on July 18, 2024, an officer patrolling Mitchell observed a driver that was stopped for the red light at Ontario Road, and was excessively revving the engine of their pick up truck. A traffic stop was conducted, and as a result of the inspection of the vehicle, the driver, a 20-year-old driver from St. Paul’s Station was charged with:

–      Unnecessary Noise

–      No Mudguards

–      Improper Tires

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Justin KONARSKI Arrested For Break & Enter

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged when they were caught breaking into a business in the Municipality of North Perth.

Just before 1:00 a.m. on July 24, 2024, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a business on Wallace Avenue North, Listowel. Police arrived on scene moments later and arrested one individual.

Justin KONARSKI, 30, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence

–      Possession of Break In Instruments

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 9, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Daniel BALLARD Was Arrested

(NORTH BAY, ON) – One person charged for impaired operation of vessel. 

On July 20, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Snowmobile, ATV, Vessel Enforcement (S.A.V.E.) Team were conducting marine patrol on Trout Lake.

Through investigation, a lone operator of one vessel was charged. 

Daniel BALLARD, 40 years-of-age of North Bay was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. They are scheduled to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on August 27, 2024.

Ryler SMITH Was Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with damaging flowers in downtown Bracebridge.

On July 14, 2024, at 3:30 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting patrols of the downtown core in Bracebridge after receiving concerns from residents and business owners about mischief in the area. Officers came upon two individuals walking on Ecclestone Drive, crossing a bridge, one of whom then pushed a wooden planter containing flowers into the river below. Officers stopped the two and noticed that there were other planters that had been disturbed with the flowers ripped out.

Police arrested and charged 19-year-old Ryler SMITH of Bracebridge, ON with Mischief CC 430(1)(a) and he will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 20, 2024 to answer to his charge. The second individual was charged with an offence under the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).

Pervert Alert – Bart David MACINTOSH Arrested For Exposing Self To Child

(PETAWAWA, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Petawawa resident after an investigation into an indecent exposure incident in Petawawa.   

On the morning of July 20, 2024, police received reports that an individual exposed themselves within view of a park area in the Town of Petawawa. 

As a result of investigation, 50-year-old Bart David MACINTOSH of Petawawa has been charged with one count of indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Pembroke on September 9, 2024.
