Nancy ANDERSON – Drunk Driving

(DUTTON-DUNWICH, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On August 4, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., members of the Elgin OPP and the Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit (Delaware Nation at Moraviantown) First Nation Police stopped a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near the 146-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich after observing a vehicle driving at a slow rate of speed with non-illuminated taillights.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Nancy ANDERSON, a 65-year-old from London was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on September 17, 2024.

Brodie MACWILLIAMS Was Arrested

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On August 5, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on Park Avenue East near Stirling Lane, Municipality of Chatham-Kent after observing a vehicle driven by a known suspended driver.

The investigating officer confirmed the identity of the driver, the individual’s driver licence status and took the driver into custody without incident. During this interaction, the investigating officer detected signs of alcohol consumption and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering an “Alert.”

As a result of the investigation, Brodie MACWILLIAMS, a 25-year-old from Chatham was charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

A further three-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on September 16, 2024.

John IRELAND – Hit & Run, Impaired Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Two individuals have been charged after an abandoned vehicle investigation in Middlesex Centre.

On August 4, 2024, at 5:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Longwoods Road at Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre, for the report of an abandoned vehicle that left the roadway and entered the ditch.

Police patrolled the area and located two individuals walking from the scene.

It was determined the driver was impaired at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Oxford County OPP detachment for further testing from a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result, John IRELAND, a 50-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·      Flight from peace officer

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Fail to remain

The accused was held for bail.

The passenger, a 44-year-old of London, was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 27, 2024.

Jalissa DECOTEAU – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge as a result of OPP RIDE Program.

On August 7, 2024, at 1:10 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police were engaged in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Wellington Road in the City of London.

A vehicle entered the program at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Jalissa DECOTEAU, a 34-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on October 15, 2024.

Emilio BISIGNANO – Drunk Driving

(GORHAM TOWNSHIP, ON) – A single off-road vehicle collision has resulted in impaired charges.

On August 4, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The individual was transported to local hospital by EMS.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the ATV had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Emilio BISIGNANO, 50-years-old, of Gorham, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 18, 2024.

Jesse GUITARD – Drunk Driving

(SHUNIAH, ON) – A traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver has led to charges being laid.

On August 5, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Lakeshore Drive in Shuniah. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jesse GUITARD, 33-years-old, of Shuniah, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Dangerous Operation

Jon MATSON – Drunk Driving

(GORHAM TOWNSHIP, ON) – A R.I.D.E program has resulted in impaired charges being laid by the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 6, 2024, just after midnight, the Thunder Bay OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E program in the area of Highway 589 in Gorham Township. A motor vehicle entered the program, and an approved screening device was administered.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jon MATSON, 47-years-old, of Slate River, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 18, 2024.

Katherine DE JESUS Was Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Officers the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered two stolen vehicles in unrelated incidents.

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m, police received a complaint from a member of the public regarding an abandoned passenger vehicle on Bay Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers attended the location and confirmed the unoccupied vehicle had been stolen and reported to a neighboring police service on July 29, 2024. The vehicle was recovered and transferred to the investigating service.

On the same evening at approximately 9:15 p.m., an officer was on patrol on King Street East in the Township of Cramahe when they received an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) notification regarding a stolen vehicle. The passenger vehicle was confirmed to be recently stolen and police then observed the driver park the vehicle, exit and walk away from officers when they attempted to communicate.

As a result, Katherine DE JESUS, 47-years-old, from Grimsby, was arrested and charged with:

–      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

–      Drive motor vehicle – no licence.

The vehicle was recovered and the accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Nathan PEUNISH – Drunk Driving

(HEARST, ON) – A traffic stop in Hearst on an unlicensed driver, led to impaired driving charges.

On August 2, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 in Hearst.

Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Hearst detachment for further testing. Officers located an open container of alcohol within the vehicle upon a search incident to arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Nathan PEUNISH, 37 years of age of Constance Lake, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

·        Drive a motor vehicle – no licence

·        Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration (B.A.C.) above zero

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 4, 2024, in Hearst. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Sean RICE – Impaired Driving

(MALAHIDE, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas detachment has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., Elgin OPP, (St. Thomas Detachment) responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle that was subject to a previously reported traffic complaint on Belmont Road north of Ron McNeil Line in Malahide Township, Elgin County.

No serious injuries were reported.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of impairment from the driver. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Thomas Detachment for further Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) testing.

As a result, Sean RICE, a 56-year-old from London was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Careless driving

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on September 3, 2024.

Joshua AMOS – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic complaint led to criminal charges for one in Cochrane.

On August 2, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a vehicle driving at excessive speeds on Highway 11, south of Cochrane.

Police observed the vehicle on Third Avenue in Cochrane and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle proceeded through a roundabout in the wrong direction before coming to a stop on Second Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cochrane detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Joshua AMOS, 20 years of age of Timmins, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 5, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

(MOONBEAM, ON) – A report of a vehicle in the ditch, led to the driver being charged for impaired.

On August 2, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pick-up truck in the ditch in Moonbeam.

Police located the ditched vehicle on Lefebvre Peninsula Road in Moonbeam, and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Jocelyne VALEE, 57 years of age of Timmins, was charged with:

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A traffic stop in Kapuskasing on Sheppard Avenue led to an impaired driving charge.

On July 30, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Sheppard Avenue in Kapuskasing.

Paul TAILLEUR – Impaired Driving

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A traffic complaint in Kapuskasing led to the arrest of one person for driving while impaired by drugs.

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Bonnieview Road in Kapuskasing, of a vehicle swerving and not able to maintain their lane.

Police located the driver and vehicle, and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Paul TAILLEUR, 60 years of age of Kapuskasing, was charged with:

Louis FORTIER – Drunk Driving

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A call from the public regarding a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11 led to an impaired driving charge.

On July 27, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11 in Kapuskasing.

Police located and conducted a traffic stop on the subject vehicle on Highway 11, east of Kapuskasing. Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Louis FORTIER, 50 years of age of Kapuskasing, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 9, 2024, in Kapuskasing. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
