Drunk Driver Arrested In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Toronto resident with Impaired driving offences following a traffic stop in Goderich on August 03, 2024. 

Just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 03, 2024, Huron County OPP were patrolling in the Town of Goderich when they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Huron Road. Police spoke to the driver and determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol prior to driving. The investigating officer determined that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Antonio AFFORNALLI, 65 years of age from Toronto has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 09, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Two individuals are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke.

On the afternoon of August 15, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Pembroke Street West in Pembroke.

A quantity of suspected fentanyl was seized by police, along with packaging materials, cash, and cell phones. Two occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident.   

As a result of the investigation 27-year-old Emrah AHMETI of Ottawa and 44-year-old Jaclyn SHAFFER of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township have each been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Traffick a schedule I substance – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

SHAFFER faces an additional CC charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

AHMETI was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next court appearance on August 23, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. SHAFFER was held for a bail hearing and was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on September 17, 2024.

Terry Ross BERRYMAN Was Arrested Again

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Laurentian Valley Township resident after a recent break and enter.   

On August 13, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the UOV OPP responded to a report of a break, enter and theft at a residence on Sandy Beach Road in Laurentian Valley Township. Alcohol and fuel were reported stolen. An individual was arrested the following day.

As a result of this incident 60-year-old Terry Ross BERRYMAN of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on September 10, 2024.

Logan DONOVAN Arrested Following Shootings

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The second suspect connected to a firearm-related incident in Delhi has now been taken into custody.

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the Brantford Police Service arrested an individual in the City of Brantford who had been identified as the second suspect in an incident that occurred on the evening of Monday, June 10, 2024, in Norfolk County, where a firearm was discharged at two residences in Delhi.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 23-year-old Logan DONOVAN of Brantford, Ontario:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm,
  • Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner (two counts).

The accused was detained in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe.

The OPP expresses its appreciation to the Brantford Police Service for their support during the investigation.

Jordan RANDALL – Drunk Driving

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Driver facing charges following traffic complaint.

On August 17, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a driving complaint involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Police observed the subject vehicle on Highway 63, Phelps Township and conducted a traffic stop.

Through investigation, the driver, Jordan RANDALL, 29 years-of-age, of French Township was arrested for impaired operation and is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on September 24, 2024. They were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Brian SLOAN – Meth

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Vehicle stop results in several charges.

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint involving a minivan on Lake Heights Road, North Bay.

Police located the subject vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Through investigation police arrested the driver for impaired operation and seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine and heroin along with other drug paraphernalia.

Brian SLOAN, 50 years-of-age of North Bay is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – heroin

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on September 17, 2024. They were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Colin PORTER – Theft

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One person has been arrested following a theft from a local business.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft from a business on Argyle Street, Caledonia.

The investigation determined that an individual entered the store, removed an item and exited the premise. They returned and entered the store a second time and removed another item.

The individual was located a short distance away and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Colin PORTER of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Assault Peace Officer

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Theft Under $5000 – (two counts)

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on August 22, 2024.

SEIP Arrested Again

(CHESLEY, ON) – Members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual following a foot pursuit in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

On August 15, 2024, police received a report that an individual was breaching a release order. Police attended and located the individual on 1st Ave. North in Chesley. The individual attempted to flee on foot from police but was arrested after a short foot pursuit, by police.

Derek SEIP, 30-year-old from Arran-Elderslie is charged with:

·      Fail to comply with release order

·      Mischief under $5000

Logan SMITH – Drunk Driving

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual with impaired driving following a traffic stop in Lambton County.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 7:24 a.m., a member of Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop on Rokeby Line, St. Clair Township.

As a result of the investigation, Logan SMITH, 20-year-old of Cayuga, was charged under the Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 3, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Joleen WESLEY – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – A RIDE program yielded a charge for impaired driving in Cochrane.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 579 in Cochrane as part of a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program.

During the interaction, police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Joleen WESLEY, 32 years of age of Cochrane, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 8, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Adenawer CORREA-LIMA Was Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD), and Peel Regional Police recovered three stolen vehicles.

On August 19, 2024, shortly before 3:00 p.m., Peel Regional Police requested assistance in conducting a traffic stop of a tractor-trailer travelling eastbound on Highway 401 towards the Municipality of Port Hope.

Members of the OPP HSD and Northumberland OPP responded to the report. At approximately 3:20 p.m., police were able to stop the vehicle and conducted an arrest of the driver on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton.

As a result, Adenawer CORREA-LIMA, a 64-year-old from Mississauga, has been charged with:

–      Possession of property obtained by crime – three counts

–      Trafficking in stolen goods over $5,000

–      Driving while under suspension.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a future date.

Zachery LOSCH – Drunk Driving

(TEESWATER, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On August 16, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE checkpoint in Teeswater.  At approximately 11:04 p.m., police stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Zachery LOSCH, 29-years-old, from the Howick Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Andres REYES FLOREZ – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual following a single vehicle collision investigation.

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Haldimand OPP located a vehicle in the ditch on Townline Road, Cayuga.

The investigation determined that the vehicle was occupied by the driver only and there were no injuries reported.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol, and the individual was taken into custody.

As a result, 27-year-old Andres REYES FLOREZ of West Lincoln Township has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024.

Harsimarjot SIDHU – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision with impaired operation.

On August 17, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on McLaren Road, near The Grange Side Road, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were reported. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Harsimarjot SIDHU, 34, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 5, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Matthew CECCHI – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers removed and charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences.

On August 17, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the Township of Melancthon. Officers located the vehicle in the area of County Road 17 and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Rogers KIMELI, a 25-year-old male, from Brampton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•     Dangerous operation

On August 17, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP responded to a disturbance call at an RV Resort in the area of East Luther Township. Officers spoke with the male and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Matthew CECCHI, a 51-year-old male, from Brampton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, to answer to the charges at a later date in June 2024. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for a period of 7 days.
