Ethan James Harrison – Impaired Operation

(PICTON, ON) – A collision on Christian Road has led to impaired driving charges.

On August 25, 2024, at approximately 2:11 a.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Christian Road in Prince Edward County. The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Ethan James Harrison, age 25 of Alberta was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 2, 2024. They also had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.

Wayne Driver – Arson, Assault, Threats, Etc.

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – One individual is facing charges after a structure fire at a residence on Berford Street in Georgian Bluffs.

On August 24, 2024, at 6:12 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence on Berford Street in Georgian Bluffs.

The residents of the home woke up to the fire alarm going off in the residence and noticed smoke from the basement. The fire was extinguished by the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department. The Intertownship Fire Department also assisted with the investigation.

The investigation revealed earlier in the day at 6:00 a.m., the accused was observed on Bruce Street in South Bruce Peninsula near a motor vehicle with incendiary material.

As a result, Wayne Driver a 65-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death of bodily harm
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Arson – disregard for human life (two counts)
  • Possession incendiary material (two counts)
  • Mischief under $5000 (two counts)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

21 Year Old Airlifted Following Collision

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – One individual suffered serious injuries after a crash on Bruce Road 8 in South Bruce Peninsula. Investigators are seeking witnesses to come forward.

On August 22, 2024, at 6.49 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Bruce County Paramedic Services and the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department responded to a report of a collision involving and motor vehicle and a motorcycle on Bruce Road 8 in South Bruce Peninsula.

A 21-year-old from Owen Sound was airlifted to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

One Deceased At Sauble Beach

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – One person has died following a drowning incident that occurred at Sauble Beach, South Bruce Peninsula.

On August 27, 2024, at 3:46 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Bruce County Paramedic Services and the South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department responded to a report of two individuals in distress swimming in Lake Huron.

One individual was brought safely to shore. The second individual was brought to shore and lifesaving measures were performed.

As a result, a 22-year-old from Mississauga was pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victims will not be released due to privacy of the family.

The Grey Bruce OPP wants to thank all by-standers for the assistance with the rescue of these individuals.

The OPP encourages all Ontarians to take personal responsibility for ensuring water safety for themselves and their children. It is important for everyone to be aware of proper boating and swimming practices.

Another Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Mayfield Road, in the Town of Caledon.

On August 27, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision where of a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Mayfield Road, near McLauglin Road. The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mayfield Road between McLaughlin Road and Chinguacousy Road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 1-888-310-1122. You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.peelcrimestoppers.ca. Sexual Assault In Paisley

(PAISLEY, ON) – On August 26, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a business along Queen Street Paisley in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie. 

South Bruce OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of Saugeen Shores Police Service arrested the individual responsible on August 27,2024.  A 56-year-old individual from London is charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Criminal Harassment

Prisoner Arrested For Sexual Assault

(KINGSTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad has laid charges after an assault at Bath Institution in Kingston.

On May 30, 2024, the Correctional Service of Canada contacted the Penitentiary Squad after an inmate reported being sexually assaulted the previous evening.

On August 12, 2024, as a result of the investigation, members of the Penitentiary Squad arrested inmate Kirk WILLIAMS, age 52, and charged him under the Criminal Code with:

  • Sexual assault – section 271
  • Assault causing bodily harm – section 267(c)
  • Assault – section 266
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – section 264.1(1)(a)

The accused remains in the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on September 19, 2024.

William R. QUIN – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On August 25, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m. a member of Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a black pick up truck on Garafraxa Street East, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, William R. QUIN, 40-years-old of Fergus, was charged with:

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Concentration 80 plus

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, at a later date.

Dwayne BONNELL – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On August 26, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Elgin OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle pulling a trailer on the westbound Highway 401 near the 123 KM-marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The vehicle was occupied by two individuals and no serious injuries were reported.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication from the driver and administered an Approved Screen Device (ASD) test, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Dwayne BONNELL, a 61-year-old from Ridgetown was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on September 23, 2024.

As a result of the collision, for safety of emergency personnel and safe removal of the involved vehicles a partial lane closure of the westbound Highway 401 in the area of the collision occurred but has since been fully opened.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers removed and charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences.

On August 23, 2024, just before 5:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Broadway in the Town of Orangeville.  Officers spoke with the driver and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, John MACDONALD, a 47-year-old male, from Burlington has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•     Disobey sign

On August 23, 2024, just before 7:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP conducted a traffic stop in the area of HWY 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers spoke with the driver and were led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Anthony BARTER, a 63-year-old male, from Caledon has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, to answer to the charges at a later date in June 2024. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for a period of 7 days.

Home Invader Sexual Assaults Victim – Quinn PETRIE-SHAW Arrested

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On August 23, 2024, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a reported sexual assault at an address in the Town of Minto.   

As a result of the investigation, Quinn PETRIE-SHAW, 28 years old of Grey Highlands has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

–       Sexual Assault,

–       Break and Enter Dwelling House to Commit Indictable offence, and

–       Forcible Confinement.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Jean Guy PILON – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON)- The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) lays 36th impaired charged in 2024.

On August 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the OPP responded to a traffic complaint involving an eastbound blue pick-up truck swerving all over the road, travelling at varying speeds and had struck some construction pilons near Beaton Road and Highway 17 in the Iron Bridge area.

A short time later, police located the suspect vehicle parked at a house on Pearson Drive in the Town of Blind River. Police observed a travel trailer on the property that appeared to be occupied and called out to the registered owner of the truck. Police established the person they were conversing with was in fact the driver from the traffic complaint. As the conversation continued, the officer determined alcohol had been consumed and a subsequent arrest was made. The driver was transported to Blind River detachment for further testing and the pick-up truck was later impounded for seven days.

As a result, Jean Guy PILON, 63 years-of-age from Blind River was charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no permit
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 3, 2024.

Marc-Andre OUELLETTE – Impaired Driving, Theft, Etc.

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in Bracebridge with several offenses after complaints from members of the public.

On August 23th, 2024, at 8:45 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers received several calls from members of the public about a vehicle travelling in the town of Bracebridge making unsafe maneuvers in residential areas including Tamarack Trail, Balls Drive and Manitoba Street. Officers responded quickly and were able to stop the vehicle, safely, at Calvin Grove Park, an area of Bracebridge that was very busy with pedestrians, before anyone was injured.

Police arrested and charged 22-year-old Marc-Andre OUELLETTE of Orleans with the following offenses:

  • Operation While Impaired by Alcohol/Drug CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Mischief- Destroys or Damages Property CC 430(1)(a)
  • Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)
  • Assault a Peace Officer CC 270(1)(a)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 24, 2024.

Kyle PEREIRA Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged after an investigation revealed more than 20 false 9-1-1 calls.

At approximately 10:35 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a series of 9-1-1 calls on Patterson Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual at the location had made over 20 non-emergency 9-1-1 calls, beginning shortly after 8:00 a.m., none of which involved an actual emergency.

During the interaction between officers and the individual, the individual caused damage to OPP property before being taken into custody.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 34-year-old Kyle PEREIRA of Norfolk County:

  • Public mischief,
  • Mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held in custody to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe.
