2 Sent To Hospital – Joshua THORNTON Arrested

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired, two passengers sent to hospital with minor injuries after single vehicle collision.

On September 8, 2024, at 1:53 a.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Kingsville Fire and Rescue were dispatched to County Road 29 at Road 6 West in the Town of Kingsville, for the report of a single vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed the vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch and caught fire. Three occupants escaped prior to the vehicle becoming engulfed. Two occupants were transported to hospital as a precaution for minor injuries.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Essex County OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Joshua THORNTON, an 18-year-old of Windsor, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 20, 2024.

The road was closed for approximately two hours and has since been opened.

One Airlifted Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), are currently on scene and investigating a two-vehicle collision between two passenger vehicles in Haldimand County.

On September 7, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Haldimand OPP received a report of a collision at the intersection of Cheapside Road and Concession 10 Walpole in Hagersville.

One individual was airlifted by Ornge with life threatening injuries. Two other individuals were transported by ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

There are currently road closures in effect at Cheapside Road from Concession 11 to Concession 9 and Concession 10 from Sandusk Road to Haldimand Road 20.

The roads are expected to be closed for several hours to continue the investigation. Please abide by the road closure signs.

The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.

Meth Bust – Rampreet SINGH

(MALLORYTOWN, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired care and control of a vehicle, possession of suspected illicit drugs and possession of an imitation firearm, after a company requested officers check on their driver.

On September 6, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Leeds County OPP officers were called to investigate an overdue driver. The company indicated to officers that its commercial vehicle was located at the north service centre since 8:00 a.m. that morning, and requested officers conduct a wellness check on the driver.

Officers arrived and observed the parked vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest, and suspected heroine, suspected methamphetamine and an imitation firearm were seized.

As a result of the investigation, Rampreet SINGH, age 25 from Caledon, was arrested and has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Heroin

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on October 4, 2024.

Police Officer Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested and charged a member of the Peterborough Police Service in relation to an investigation that began earlier this year.

On March 18, 2024, the Chief of the Peterborough Police Service requested that the OPP investigate allegations involving a Peterborough Police Service member.  

The investigation was commenced under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

On September 7, 2024, Mackenzie ROGERS, age 27, of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with the following offences:  

• Breach of trust, contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code – two counts

• Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000, contrary to section 354(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 8, 2024.

Questions related to the employment status of the accused should be directed to the Peterborough Police Service.

David WADE – Threats

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged one person after ongoing family dispute.

On September 5, 2024, police responded to a dispute related call on Ste Camillus Crescent in the City of Elliot Lake. The complainant reported on-going disputes with a family member. On this date, there were numerous threats made to cause bodily harm and damage property belonging to the complainant.   

David WADE, 45-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm (two counts)
  • Uttering Threats – damage property
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on September 6, 2024.

Ian MCANSH – Impaired Driving

(PICTON, ON) – A collision on Highway 49 has led to impaired driving charges.

On September 5, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 49 in Prince Edward County. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. The driver did not sustain any injury.

Ian MCANSH, age 42 of Wellington was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 2, 2024. They also had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days.

Fuel Truck Rollover Closed Road

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – A fuel truck rollover has closed Cherrydale Road in ACW Township for emergency and clean up crews.

On September 06, 2024, just before 1:00 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Goderich Fire Department, Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a rollover collision involving a fuel tanker truck on Cherrydale Road near Benmiller.

Emergency responders located one injured vehicle driver who was transported to a local hospital for minor injury.

The truck had diesel fuel and gasoline on board at the time. Clean up crews were called in to off-load the truck contents.

Cherrydale Road is closed for the investigation, clean up and vehicle removal, which will take several hours to complete.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.

Violent Assaults In Lucknow

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with three counts of Assault with a Weapon following an incident in the Municipality of Huron-Kinloss (Lucknow) on September 05, 2024. 

Just after 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 05, 2024, South Bruce OPP received a report of suspicious persons carrying baseball bats on Havelock Street in the Village of Lucknow. Officers attended the location and observed an altercation occurring between two individuals. One of those individuals brandished an edged weapon and was safely taken into custody.

The police investigation revealed two victims, one of which fled from the scene with minor injuries and the other, who remained on scene.

The accused was processed and charged with the following offences:

Ian SMITH, 39 years of age from no fixed address has been charged with:

–      Assault with a Weapon – (three counts).

The accused was processed and held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Walkerton on September 06, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(TYENDINAGA TOWNSHIP, ON) – Three people face multiple charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized drugs and cash at two residences in Deseronto.

On September 5th, 2024, the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County detachment, as well as the OPP Canine Unit, executed two search warrants at addresses on Mill Street and Brant Street in Deseronto.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and oxycodone pills were seized. Paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, cell phones, a prohibited weapon, and a large amount of Canadian currency was also seized.

Natinael TESFAGABIR, 22 years old, of Toronto and Jennifer THOMPSON, 32 years old, of Deseronto were arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Charlene HANNAH, 62 years old, of Deseronto, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

All accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Pervert Alert: Andrew RYERSON Arrested For Sexual Assaulting Child

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Perth resident with sexual offences involving a child.

Lanark officers began an investigation on August 31, 2024, into allegations involving a volunteer with the Ottawa Children’s Aid Society. The individual had been spending a great deal of time with a child and their family.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew RYERSON, age 55, was arrested on September 1, 2024, and has been charged with:

  • Sexual assault of a person under 16
  • Sexual interference
  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Make sexually explicit material available to a person under 14 – two counts

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on November 25, 2024.

The investigation is continuing due to the individual’s potential access to other children. Anyone with information related to this individual should contact the Lanark OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E241161713.

Dana HEARD Facing Numerous Charges

(LONDON, ON) – Two vehicle collision on Highway 402 leads to canine track and charges for driver.

On September 5, 2024, at 5:26 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to the Eastbound lanes of Highway 402 at Colonel Talbot Road in the City of London for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a vehicle travelling Eastbound was struck from behind by another Eastbound vehicle, which lost control and entered the ditch.

The driver fled the scene on foot, at which time OPP Canine and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called to assist.

Investigation revealed the licence plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Elgin County.

The driver was located and transported to hospital as a precaution due to minor injuries sustained in the collision.

The other driver was not injured.

Dana HEARD, a 49-year-old of West Lorne, has been charged under the Criminal Code, the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Dangerous operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Fail to remain

·      Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was held for bail.

Stolen Trailer Recovered – Two Arrested

(HURON SHORES, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two people for having a stolen trailer on Highway 17.

On September 5, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m. the complainant reported following a white pickup truck towing trailer on Highway 17, Huron Shores. They were travelling eastbound, and the trailer was recognized by the complainant as it was stolen over a year ago from Sault Ste Marie.

Police conducted a traffic stop and it was in fact the complainant’s trailer. Both occupants of the pickup truck were subsequently arrested.  

Thomas BOSTON, 62-years-old, of Sault Ste Marie, was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Draw trailer, no permit
  • Draw trailer, no plate

Randy BENNETT, 67-years-old, of Sault Ste Marie, was charged with – Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

Both accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 7, 2024.

Alexander DUMOUCHEL Was Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple offences following an initial traffic stop.

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., OPP were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Brighton. A pick-up truck was observed travelling eastbound at a speed of 151 km/h in a posted 110 km/h limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver pulled over. Police recorded details relevant to the vehicle and made a demand for documents from the driver. The individual then spun the tires of the vehicle before entering back onto the highway at speed.

As a result of an investigation, officers arrested the driver on September 5, 2024.

Alexander DUMOUCHEL, 33-years-old, from Kingston, has been charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Fail to identify himself
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Fail to produce permit.

Their licence was suspended for 30-days and the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Christopher SIMPSON-JOHNSTON Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On September 4, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person after a traffic stop on Pine Road.

Police were conducting regular patrol duties near Spruce Avenue and Highway 108 when an alert was indicated by the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR). The vehicle was followed and subsequently stopped.

Christopher SIMPSON-JOHNSTON, 31-years-old, of Serpent River First Nation, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Owner permit operation of motor vehicle without insurance
  • Operate unsafe motor vehicle

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on September 5 , 2024.

Stephanie EVANS – Drunk Driving

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Smiths Falls resident with impaired driving after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 43.

Lanark officers and Lanark County Paramedics responded to the crash, near Pine Avenue. Just before 8:00 p.m. last night (September 5, 2024).

There were no serious injuries reported, although at least one individual was transported to hospital as a precaution.

One driver was arrested and was transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Stephanie EVANS, age 34, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on October 21, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
