Youth Sexually Assaulted – One Arrested


Investigators with the York Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit have charged a Vaughan man after an investigation into the trafficking of a youth in the City of Vaughan.

On December 26, 2024 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers attended a residence in the area of Steeles Avenue and Bathurst Street for a Check Welfare call. On scene, officers learned that the victim, a youth, was being held against her will, had been sexually assaulted and was being trafficked for a sexual purpose.

The suspect met the victim at a shopping centre two months prior and began communicating with her on social media. The suspect lured the victim to his residence where he sexually and physically assaulted her. The suspect took pornographic photos of the victim in order to advertise sexual services and then trafficked her for this purpose.

York Regional Police is releasing an image of the suspect as investigators believe there are additional victims and are encouraging them to come forward. A photo of the suspect and a list of charges can be found found HERE.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages victims to report incidents of sexual assault, including historical offences. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

Armed Robbery

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a robbery in Cambridge.

On December 30, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., police responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the area of Fanklin Boulevard and Elgin Street North.

The incident occurred on December 29, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m. An unknown male entered the business and threatened staff with an edged weapon. The took merchandise and fled the store.

There are no reports of any physical injuries.

Another Pedestrian Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a collision in Kitchener involving a pedestrian.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., emergency services responded to the area of Frederick Street and Bruce Street regarding a collision.

A 58-year-old Kitchener female was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection.

The female was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Swatting Incident In Waterloo

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a swatting call in Cambridge.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Burnett Avenue and Saginaw Parkway after receiving a call threatening to commit acts of violence.

Through the investigation, officers determined that the call was a false report intended to initiate an emergency response.

There are no ongoing concerns for public safety.

The investigation remains ongoing by members of the General Investigations Unit.

Repeat Offenders Arrested For Break & Enter

Two males are in custody after breaking into a residence in Whitby.

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a break-and-enter at a residence in the area of Princess Street and Cassels Road East.  Two males used a stolen garage door remote to access the garage of a residence. Officers arrived on scene and took one male into custody without incident.  The second male fled the area in a grey SUV.

Officers searched the area and later located the suspect vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated and the second suspect was taken into custody without incident. 

Zachary LINTNER, age 33 from Courtice is charged with: Break-and-Enter, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Fail to Comply with Release Order, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2.

Joseph DAVRIEUX, age 55 from Clarington is charged with: Break-and-Enter, Dangerous Operation, Flight from Police, Operate a Conveyance While Prohibited, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x2.

They were both held for a bail hearing.

One Arrested For Arson

LONDON, ON (December 30, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service Street Crime Unit are investigating after a London man was arrested in relation to an overnight arson.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 400-block of Pinewood Drive in relation to a fire outside a shed.

Members of the London Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire.

While emergency crews were on scene, a suspect male entered his home nearby. Shortly afterwards, smoke was observed coming from inside the house. The door of the residence was breached, and members of the London Fire Department extinguished a fire inside the house.

A London police officer arrested the suspect male.

There were no reported injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Michael Bond, 43, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Arson causing damage to property;
  • Arson by negligence; and
  • Possession of incendiary material.

The accused is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

Loaded Guns & Drugs Seized

LONDON, ON (December 30, 2024) – Three Londoners are facing charges after members of the LPS Uniformed Division recovered a stolen all-terrain vehicle, loaded guns and drugs.

On Friday, December 27, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers observed an all-terrain vehicle being operated in a dangerous manner in the area of Shelborne Street and Commissioners Road East. Three occupants were on the vehicle at the time.

When police attempted to stop the all-terrain vehicle, it fled towards a green space behind a nearby commercial plaza.

A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned. Checks revealed that it was reported stolen to an out-of-town police agency.

Members of the Uniformed Division, with the assistance of a member of the LPS Canine Unit, attended the area and commenced a search.

One male was located fleeing from the area. He was arrested without incident. A search yielded the following:

  • Loaded semi-automatic .22 caliber prohibited rifle with defaced serial number
  • 31 grams of suspected fentanyl, value $4,650
  • 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine, value $5000

Information was received that two additional suspects had fled from the area in a taxi. The two additional male suspects were located and arrested a short time later in the 300-block of Hilton Avenue.

A loaded sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number was also recovered and seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old male, 21-year-old male, and 14-year-old male have been jointly charged with the following offences:

  • Two (2) counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm;
  • Possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm;
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with; and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The 20-year-old male has additionally been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with;
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

The 14-year-old male has additionally been charged with the following offences:

  • Fail to comply with sentence;
  • Fail to comply with undertaking; and
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

None of the accused will be named, as doing so could potentially identify the 14-year-old male, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All three of the accused are expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

2 Teens Arrested Following Break & Enter

LONDON, ON (December 30, 2024) – Two teenaged boys were arrested after a business was broken into over the weekend.

On Saturday, December 28, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., a citizen heard the sound of glass breaking at a business in the 900-block of Wellington Road. The citizen observed a young male flee from the business and contacted police. A description was provided to officers.

Video surveillance was obtained from the involved business.

Three suspects were located and arrested a short time later. A search yielded stolen property belonging to the business.

As a result of the investigation, one of the arrested youths was released unconditionally, while the other two were transported to the London Police Headquarters Detention Unit.

The business sustained approximately $1500 in damages.

Two 13-year-old males, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with a number of offences.

Youth # 1 has been charged with:

  • Break & enter with intent;
  • Fail to comply with undertaking; and
  • Fail to comply with release order.

Youth # 2 has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

Both of the youths have upcoming court dates in relation to the charges.

$47,000 Owen Sound Drug Bust

On December 28th, 2024 the Owen Sound Police Service responded to a domestic assault incident in the 1000 block of 3rd Ave E.  The investigation lead to the arrest of a 47-year-old Owen Sound man.

As part of the investigation, the Owen Sound Police Service sought and obtained a search warrant for the residence.  The search warrant was executed by Uniform officers and members of the Criminal Investigations Branch resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.  The amount of fentanyl seized during this investigation equates to 2030 individual doses.  The street value of the illicit drugs is estimated at $47,000.

As a result of the investigation, the offender is charged with:

1)      Robbery with violence;

2)      Three counts of Uttering Threats – cause death or bodily harm;

3)      Three counts of Assault;

4)      Two counts of Assault with a weapon;

5)      Sexual Assault;

6)      Sexual assault using a restricted or prohibited firearm;

7)      Two counts of Forcible Confinement;

8)      Two counts of Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;

9)      Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance;

10)  Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking;

11)  Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada.

 The offender was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for December 29th, 2024.

Home Invasion, Slashing & Bottle Attack – Guelph Police Daily Update 30Dec2024

Arrest made in home break-in

A Guelph man faces several charges related to a break-in at a home last week while the residents were sleeping.

On Thursday morning police were called to an address on Huron Street. Residents had awakened to discover their home was entered overnight and property including two phones, debit cards and a distinctive NASCAR jacket had been stolen.

Investigation revealed the stolen cards had been used to make purchases downtown. A suspect was caught on video wearing the stolen jacket while using the cards.

Friday afternoon members of the Guelph Police Break Enter Auto Theft unit executed a search warrant at a home just outside the downtown and recovered the stolen phones.

A 23-year-old Guelph man is charged with break and enter, using a stolen credit card, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and three counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.

Man reports being slashed with knife downtown

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a Kitchener man reported being slashed with a knife in Guelph early Sunday.

Just after 4 a.m. a police officer was approached by an injured man near Gordon Street and Waterloo Avenue. He was observed to have two slashes across his abdomen as well as a cut on his eyebrow and bruising on his face.

The man reported he had been involved in an altercation at a downtown business with two unknown males, one of whom was armed with a small knife. He said he was slashed with the knife and punched in the face. He was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Man arrested in bottle assault

A Barrie man was arrested Friday night after a woman was struck by a thrown beer bottle inside a downtown Guelph business.

Approximately 11:35 p.m. the 19-year-old victim was sitting at a table with friends inside a licensed establishment when she was struck in the head by a bottle thrown by a male on the dance floor. The two were not known to each other.

The victim was treated on scene for a cut to her head. Staff of the business immediately reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect, who was still on scene.

A 19-year-old Barrie man is charged with assault with a weapon. He will appear in court February 11.

$15k in tools stolen

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $15,000 worth of tools and supplies were stolen from an east-end construction site during the Christmas holiday.

On Friday police attended a construction site near Starwood Drive and Watson Parkway. The site supervisor reported a male had gained access to a building under construction late December 25 or early December 26 and removed a large quantity of tools and supplies. He was described as wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with the hood up and pulling a dark-coloured wagon.

False fire alarm leads to arrest

A Guelph man faces charges after pulling a fire alarm at City Hall Friday morning.

Just after 9:30 a.m. a male was involved in a verbal altercation with city staff. As he left the building the male activated the fire alarm. He was located nearby and placed under arrest. A search revealed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

A 32-year-old Guelph man is charged with making a false alarm of fire, possessing a controlled substance and breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court January 28.

Martin MOORE Facing Fraud Charges

(MIDLAND,ON) – An unlocked vehicle entry followed by the unlawful use of credit cards has resulted in numerous charges after investigation for a Tay Township resident.

A member of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to a call placed by the victim to the OPP Communication Centre reporting the unlawful use of credit cards from a wallet that disappeared during the overnight of December 27/28,2024 from a parked vehicle on Aberdeen Boulevard, Midland.

Victim reported being notified by financial institutions of unauthorized transactions in excess of $500 and through investigation, the officer was able to identify a suspect and made an arrest at approximately 10:54 a.m. December 29, 2024.

Charged in connection to this investigation is Martin MOORE 34 years of Tay Township with the following criminal offences.

  • Use of Credit Card (two counts)
  • Fraud Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (three counts)
  • Breach of Recognizance

The accused has been released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on February 6, 2025.

2 Charged With Theft – Meth A Factor

(MIDLAND, ON)- A call at approximately 9:08 p.m. December 27, 2024 to the Ontario Provincial Police Communication Centre for a shoplifting offence from security services at the Walmart Store on Heritage Drive, Midland has resulted in the arrest of two Midland area residents. The following individuals were observed by store security security leaving with unpaid merchandise and later identified through investigation.

Robyn Patricia COPEGOG 33 years of Midland was arrested and charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Resist Peace Officer

And further with the Controlled Drug and Substance offence of

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

Taylor DUPUIS 29 years of no fixed address Midland was also arrested and criminally charged with the following offences.

  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused persons were both released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6, 2024.

Alannah HICKSON – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle leaves road and rolls.

On December 29, 2024, at 5:02 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre fire were dispatched to Hyde Park Road near Heritage Drive in Ilderton, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for the report of a single vehicle rollover.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Alannah HICKSON, a 34-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Careless Driving

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on February 18, 2025.

South Bruce OPP Arrest One From Owen Sound

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On December 29, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on 1st Avenue North, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped and checked by police. 

As a result of the investigation, Cody ELDER, 35-years-old from Owen Sound, has been charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited, CC 320.18(1)(a)

The involved vehicle has been impounded for 45 days.

The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025.

Duct Tape Driver’s Side Window Results In Charges

(ARMOUR TOWNSHIP, ON) – Almaguin Highlands OPP charge a commercial vehicle driver after they were caught using duct tape as a makeshift replacement for a broken driver’s side window. 

On December 8, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint from a concerned motorist who reported a commercial vehicle which appeared to be using duct tape as a replacement for a drivers side window. Officers responded to the complaint and quickly located the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old person from Brampton was later charged with:

  • No clear view to sides
  • Improper mirror – commercial motor vehicle
  • Careless Driving
  • Fail to report accident

The vehicle was determined to be unsafe for travel and was promptly removed from the roadway. The accused is to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Sundridge at a later date.
