Melissa TURCOTTE Was Arrested Again

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery earlier this month.

On January 4, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Kirkland Lake OPP responded to a report of a robbery at a residence on Station Road in Kirkland Lake. The caller reported that three people broke into an apartment, assaulted the caller and three others within the apartment, then fled the scene. Victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Melissa TURCOTTE, a 36-year-old of Kirkland Lake, was arrested and charged with:

·      Break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence

·      Robbery with a weapon

·      Fail to comply with probation order

·      Disguise with intent

·      Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused was released after a bail hearing and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 30, 2025.

The OPP is continuing efforts to locate and arrest the other two individuals involved in this incident. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Ana PRASCEVIC Was Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – One driver was arrested for driving while impaired by drug, during a traffic stop by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kirkland Lake.

On January 2,2025, at 6:45 p.m. the Kirkland Lake OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed failing to maintain its lane on Government Road West, in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

As a result of the investigation, Ana PRASCEVIC, a 32-year-old from Toronto, has been charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 30, 2025.

Kirkland Lake and surrounding area is reminded that whether someone is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

FRASER – Break & Enter, Theft

(MEAFORD, ON) – On January 26, 2025, at approximately 11:13 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break & enter at the LCBO along Nelson Street West, Municipality of Meaford.

Police attended and observed the glass in front entrance to be smashed. OPP Canine and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended to assist.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher FRASER, 41-years-old of Meaford, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break & Enter, CC 348(1)(b)
  • Theft under $5000, CC 334(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Owen Sound Court of Justice on February 27, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Craig LAWSON Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A traffic stop in Courtland resulted in charges for a prohibited driver.

At approximately 8:02 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment initiated a traffic stop and investigation on Main Street of Courtland in Courtland, Norfolk County, after receiving a licence plate status alert from the police cruiser’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

The investigation revealed that the driver was prohibited from driving. They were subsequently taken into custody without incident.

45-year-old Craig LAWSON from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

BOYLES – Drunk Driving

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call with information about a possible impaired driver.

On January 27, 2025, shortly before 1:00am, Peterborough County OPP received a complaint of a vehicle swerving on the road and then going off the road into the ditch on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. The caller advised that they, along with another in the vehicle, had observed the vehicle swerving and then go off the road. They stopped to check on the condition of the driver and when speaking with the driver, they believed they were impaired. At this point, they contacted the Peterborough County OPP.

Moments later, officers arrived on scene and approached the vehicle. Officers spoke with the driver noting signs of impairment at which point an arrest was made. The driver was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

Matthew BOYLES (age 37) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 4, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ORILLIA, ON) – While conducting a theft and stolen property investigation, members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made two arrests, resulting in the seizure of prohibited weapons and a large quantity of illicit drugs.

On January 20, 2025, several items and tools, including an automotive scanner, were reported stolen from an address in Orillia. On January 27, 2025, just before 1:00 pm, Orillia OPP responded to a call from a witness reporting that someone was trying to sell them stolen property. The witness reported knowing the original victim of the theft and could confirm that the serial number of the automotive scanner for sale matched that of the one stolen. Subsequently, officers engaged in a criminal investigation.

Just after 4:00 pm, officers staged near by as the witness met with the parties selling the items, and arrests were made. During this, officers also located a quantity of drugs and several prohibited weapons, which were seized from the accused. The investigation continued once back at the Orillia Detachment, which included assistance from the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), as well as the Economic Crime & Corruption Unit (ECCU).

The following items were seized:

·      Over 45 grams of suspected Cocaine,

·      Over 100 grams of suspected Pink Fentanyl,

·      Over 40 tablets of Hydromorphone Tablets, and other various pills,

·      Functioning scales, cell phones, and other drug paraphernalia,

·      Numerous credit cards and identification documents, and

·      Over $1500 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged two parties.

Michael HART-PAYNE, 30-year-old of Orillia, has been charged with the following:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x3

·      Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime

·      Possessing Counterfeit Money

·      Possession of a credit card

·      Possession of an Identity Document

·      Identity Theft

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order x4

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x2

·      Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x6

Michael CORRIVEAU, 30-year-old of Orillia, has been charged with the following:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x3

·      Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime

·      Possessing Counterfeit Money

·      Possession of a Credit Card

·      Possession of an Identity Document

·      Identity Theft

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x6

Both accused were held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia for a bail hearing.

34 Year Old From Saugeen Shores Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On January 26, 2025, at approximately 8:32 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving a snowmobile in the area of Concession 14 and Baseline, Municipality of Brockton.

Members of the South Bruce OPP attended the area with Bruce County Paramedic Service and located a single snowmobile involved. The operator was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel LINTON, 34-years-old, of Saugeen Shores has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 26, 2025 to answer to the charges.

Arrests For Grand-parent Scam

(IROQUOIS FALLS, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two people involved in a grand-parent scam involving three separate victims.

On January 22, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., the South Porcupine OPP responded to a fraud where the suspect called a residence in Iroquois Falls requesting money for their grandson that had been in a car accident. 

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 11:12 a.m., the South Porcupine OPP responded to a fraud where the suspect called two separate residences in Iroquois Falls, requesting money for their grandson who was currently in custody.

As a result of the investigation two people have been arrested and charged.

Amect RICALDY-SOLORZANO, 53 years-old, from Montreal, was charged with the following:

  • Fraud over $5,000 – four counts
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused remains in custody and is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 29, 2025.

Eliza GREGOLINKSKA, 53 years-old, from Montreal, was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 13, 2025

LAVALLEE – Drunk Driving

(SUDBURY ON) – Police arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences, after conducting a traffic stop with a vehicle on Lasalle Boulevard, Sudbury.

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle having no active rear position lights on the motor vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.

Samantha LAVALLEE, 33 years-of-age, from Chelmsford, was charged with.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle
  • Fail to signal for turn
  • Novice driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 12, 2025, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Northumberland OPP Weekend Update

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to and investigated a number of incidents over the weekend.

On January 24, 2025, OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Smith Street in the Municipality of Brighton. Officers arrived at the location to find a passenger vehicle in the ditch and a lone occupant in the driver seat. Upon speaking with the uninjured individual, police entered into an impaired operation investigation. As a result, the driver was taken into custody at which point they resisted the arrest. They were transported to a local detachment where they refused to comply with a demand for breath into an Approved Instrument. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of liquor and cannabis. There were no other persons or vehicles involved.

Tara KOCHIE (age 55) from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Resist Peace Officer

–      Drive motor vehicle or boar with cannabis readily available

–      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On January 25, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m., police responded to a report from Warkworth Institution regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of McCann Road in the Municipality of Brighton. Officers patrolled the area and stopped a vehicle with no front licence place on County Road 30. Following the stop and observing three occupants including the driver, officers could detect an odor of Cannabis coming from the vehicle and police then initiated a search.

The search yielded a drone, cellphones, $1000 in Canadian currency, cannabis and a small quantity of unknown drugs which are still to be identified.

Juan Luis GUEYE VARGAS (age 18) from St-Anne-Desplaines, Quebec, has been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

–      Person under 19 years – possess cannabis

–      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

–      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

–      Fail to surrender insurance card

–      Dirty plate

–      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle.

The two 17-year-old male passengers from Montreal, Quebec, have been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

–      Person under 19 years – possess cannabis.

The young persons shall not be named due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). All the accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

On January 26, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., OPP received a report of an assault which had taken place on Curtis Point Road in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand involving a resident and a passing snowmobile operator. Emergency Medical Services also attended the location to treat the victim for minor injuries.

A description of the snowmobile and operator was provided to officers who then patrolled the local areas. A short time later, a person was arrested in relation to the incident.

As a result, Bailey CRUMB (aged 20) from the Township of Hamilton, has been charged with:

–      Assault with a weapon.

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

On January 27, 2025, at approximately 7:35 a.m., OPP responded to an attempted break and enter on Ganaraska Road in the Municipality of Port Hope. The caller advised that three individuals wearing dark clothing and masks, had tried to break into their residence with an implement. The suspects then ran eastbound after being disturbed by the homeowner.

An increased police presence was in the area as containment was set up and assisted by the Emergency Response Team (ERT). An OPP Canine Unit (K9) was also dispatched to assist with the investigation.

No persons were located as a result of the initial efforts and this investigation is on-going. Resources were clear shortly before 10:00 a.m. Northumberland OPP are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behavior or has video/dash cam evidence which could assist officers, to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 reference E250107735.

John Adam NELSON Was Arrested

(WHITEWATER REGION TWP, ON) – A local motorist is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the UOV OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision after a vehicle entered the ditch on Rapid Road in Whitewater Region Township. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not injured. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.

As a result of this incident 45-year-old John Adam NELSON of Laurentian Hills has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 24, 2025.

Jesse GORNALL Was Arrested Again

(TWEED, ON) – An arrest has been made after a break-in at a seasonal cottage near Tweed.

Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a location on Queensborough Road shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025.

The owner reported that someone had been detected entering the cottage, which was supposed to be vacant.

Officers arrived and saw an individual running away through the forest. Central Hastings officers were joined by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and Community Street Crime Unit to conduct a search.

A vehicle was located, abandoned in the area. Officers then stopped another vehicle nearby, registered to the same person as the initial vehicle. Inside they found the wanted individual. The driver was also arrested but was later released unconditionally.

Jesse GORNALL, age 48 of Quinte West, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Use of a plate not authorized for a vehicle
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts

This accused was held in custody until a bail hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2025, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Kennedy DUPLESSIS Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after traffic stop.

On January 26, 2025, at 6:38 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Exeter Road in the City of London, observed a suspicious vehicle.  

A traffic stop was initiated on the Exeter Road off ramp from Highway 401 Westbound.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Kennedy DUPLESSIS, a 26-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 4, 2025.

32 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested – Name Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On January 24th, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Fire Services responded to a single-vehicle collision on Farmstead Road. The vehicle had struck a gas meter.

Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle in a ditch and spoke with the driver. Following an investigation, it was confirmed that no gas leak had occurred.

Subsequently, the driver was investigated for operating a vehicle while impaired. As a result, 32-year-old Conley Smith of Little Britain was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges, the driver received a 90-day driver’s license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Traffic complaint leads to impaired charge.

On January 25, 2025, at 10:47 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Linda CARRUTHERS a 71-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 31, 2025.
