Sharon WICKETT Was Arrested

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A Monday night RIDE program by members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in one driver being arrested.

Officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62 at County Road 3 at 10:30 p.m. on March 17, 2025. During the RIDE, officers conducted a test on one driver with the Approved Screening Device. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Sharon WICKETT, age 72 of Prince Edward County has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on April 2, 2025. They also had their driver’s licence suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Three individuals are facing a combined seven charges under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) after search warrants were executed in Peterborough, Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and Peterborough Police Service (PPS) Drug Unit began a drug trafficking investigation in the summer of 2024, which resulted in arrests in January 2025.

On March 3, 2025, officers conducted a vehicle stop and arrested an individual for drug trafficking offences. Three search warrants were also executed in Peterborough, Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie by officers from OPP OCEB, OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau, Sault Ste. Marie OPP, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP Community Street Crime Unit, PPS and Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS).

On March 6, 2025, SSMPS executed a search warrant in Sault Ste. Marie.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of the following items:

  •         Approximately 635 g of suspected fentanyl
  •         Approximately 60 g of suspected cocaine
  •         Approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency
  •         Four cell phones

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $133,000.

Jonathan MORNINGSTAR, age 31 of Ottawa, has been charged with the following two offences under the CC and CDSA:

  •         Possession of property obtained by crime
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa on April 17, 2025.

Antonio WILLIAMS, age 30 of Toronto, has been charged with the following three offences under the CC and CDSA:

  •         Possession of property obtained by crime
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on March 31, 2025.

Kyle MCLELLAND, age 20 of Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged with the following two CDSA offences:

  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on March 31, 2025.

Cocaine Bust

(OTTAWA, ON) – Ten people are facing a combined 58 charges under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) after a drug trafficking investigation in Ottawa and the surrounding communities.

In late 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG) began a drug trafficking investigation in Ottawa. Between March 3 and 5, 2025, members from the OPP-led PGNG, OPP Provincial Auto Theft and Towing Team, OPP Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, Sûreté du Québec, Ottawa Police Service, Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau and Canada Border Services Agency executed six search warrants on residences in Ottawa, Gatineau and Renfrew, and three vehicle search warrants.

The following items were seized:

  •         Two firearms
  •         Approximately 1.17 kg of suspected cocaine
  •         Approximately 8 g of suspected fentanyl
  •         More than 150 pregabalin tablets
  •         More than 390 alprazolam tablets
  •         More than 100 hydromorphone tablets
  •         $187,419 in Canadian currency
  •         Two vehicles as offence-related property
  •         Nine cell phones
  •         Digital scales
  •         Pepper spray
  •         Luxury watches and jewellery
  •         Two money counters
  •         Packaging material

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $113,000.

Luke MOSES Was Arrested

(MOOSONEE, ON) – A report of a pickup truck in the ditch led to the arrest of the driver for impaired operation.

On March 15, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pickup truck stuck in the ditch on David Wynne Drive in Moosonee.

Officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol, and as a result of the investigation, Luke MOSES, 37-years-of-age from Moose Factory, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 13, 2025, in Moosonee.

Michael RICCI – Impaired Operation

(CALEDON, ON) – Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation by drugs following a single motor vehicle collision.

On March 13, 2025, just before 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle into the ditch on Old School Road, near Winston Churchill Boulevard, in the Town of Caledon. During the interaction, the officer formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs and was subsequently arrested. 

As a result of the investigation, Michael RICCI, 42, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – drugs

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 7, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Breanna McKAY Was Arrested Again

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – In-car camera alert results in multiple charges for driver.

On March 16, 2025, at 12:00 a.m., a Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) member, while on general patrol on Dundas Street in Thames Centre, was alerted by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of possible stolen licence plate on a vehicle.

Police confirmed the licence plates had previously been reported as stolen.

A Tire Deflation Device was safely utilized on the vehicle at which time it came to a stop at the intersection of Elgin Road and Catherine Street in Thames Centre.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle fled the scene on foot, however, was quickly located by police.

The individual was placed under arrest.

As a result, Breanna McKAY, a 26-year-old of Tillsonburg, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Possession of an identity document
  • Possession of article stolen from mail
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Obstruct plate
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was held for bail.

The In Car Camera and ALPR have been operating in Middlesex County OPP vehicles since March 13, 2023. Middlesex OPP officers continue to see drivers operating vehicles that do not have valid, registered licence plates, are currently driving unlicenced, while under suspension or prohibited.

ATM Attempted Break-in – One Arrested

(LANARK, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid a charge following an attempted ATM break-in.

Lanark County OPP officers responded to a bank in Lanark, on March 17,2025 at approximately 11:20 p.m. and arrest was made at the scene. Two other individuals fled on foot.

The OPP Canine Unit and Emergency Response Team conducted a search of the area, but the other individuals were not located. A door to the bank had been forced open and the culprits had attempted to break into the ATM. Several power tools were left behind. It is not believed any money was taken.

Andre Pageau, 35-years-old from Gatineau, Quebec, has been charged with break and enter.

The accused was held for a bai hearing scheduled before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 18, 2025.

Stephen Wallace Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a suspicious vehicle investigation.

On March 11, 2025, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Kingsview Drive. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Stephen Wallace, 63, of Holland Landing, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus)

• Having care or control of motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on March 27, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Mark HAWLEY – Assault, Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 403.

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 6:27 p.m., Brant County OPP, along with Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services and Brant County Fire Services, responded to a report of a black pickup truck that had rolled over into the north-side ditch on Highway 403 westbound, west of Paris Road.

Emergency responders located the lone male occupant, who was assisted from the vehicle and transported to hospital for medical assessment. Further investigation determined that the driver had been operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and later became combative with officers.

As a result, Mark HAWLEY, 54 years old, of Brantford, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Assault peace officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date.

Daniel CHIASSON Charged

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged after traffic complaint on Highway 401 Westbound.

On March 15, 2025, at 1:27 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, for a traffic complaint.

The vehicle was located and stopped on Wonderland Road at Highway 402 in the City of London.

As a result, Daniel CHIASSON, a 49-year-old of Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 21, 2025.

42 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one driver for driving while impaired in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On March 17, 2025, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a traffic tip that the driver of a passenger vehicle just approached the complainant in his vehicle drinking a bottle of Malibu rum and last seen travelling South on Church Street.

Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle during general patrols and attempted to initiated a traffic stop in a near by plaza. Two marked cruisers approached the vehicle initiated the stop then the suspect vehicle proceeded to reverse into the front of one cruiser.

The officer issued an Approved Screening Device demand (ASD). Subsequently the driver provided a sample which resulted in a “Fail”. 

At 8:11 p.m., the driver: Michael MOULAND 42 years-old, of New Tecumseth, was arrested and charge with:  

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on April 10, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Jeremy SCHINDEL Was Arrested

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Traffic stop for stunt driving leads to impaired driving charge.

On March 14, 2025, at 1:48 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was performing a traffic enforcement initiative in the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Thames Centre and observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted 100 km/h speed limit.

A traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Jeremy SCHINDEL, a 40-year-old of Delaware, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 8, 2025.

Parole Suspended For Wayne Mumford After Sexual Assault

n the afternoon of March 12, 2025, a female victim utilizing the Rideau Trail system between the North end of Queen Mary Road and the south end of Parkway was accosted and then sexually assaulted by a male not known to her.  

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury which required medical attention as a result of this attack.  The incident was reported to police and an investigation was initiated.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division Sexual Assault Unit were able to identify the suspect as being an inmate on statutory release at the time of the offence.

On March 13th, 2025, the accused Wayne Mumford was arrested and charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and have face mask/disguise. Along with having his parole suspended, Mumford was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.

Belleville Police Daily Update 17Mar2025

Motor vehicle collision involving pedestrian

On the 14th of March at 1:27pm, a vehicle was northbound on Pinnacle St. making a right turn onto Station St.  At the same time, an 85-year-old Belleville woman was walking northbound and had entered the pedestrian crossing in the intersection.  The female collided with the vehicle and was knocked to the ground.  The pedestrian was transported to the Trenton Memorial Hospital where she was treated for several fractures to her foot, significant cuts / abrasions and soft tissue injuries.  The injuries are not deemed to be life threatening.  At this stage of the investigation, alcohol / drugs are not suspected and speed does not appear to be a factor in the incident.  The driver of the truck remained on-scene and was fully cooperative with police.  Members of the Belleville Police Service’s Traffic Safety Unit and Forensic Identification Section both attended to process the scene. The collision remains under investigation.

Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charge

On the 14th of March at 8:38pm, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Hwy # 62 conducted a traffic stop.  The officer observed empty beer cans on the front passenger seat of the vehicle.  As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Andrew Kays of Bancroft was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in April.

Domestic Assault

On the 14th of March at 10:30am, Belleville Police attended a wooded area in the city’s east end after receiving reports of a male and female arguing while staying in a tent.  Two separate callers reported hearing the female being physically assaulted.  When police arrived, the involved male had left.  Police spoke to the victim and then searched the area.  Police located the involved male and arrested him for assault.  Following the completion of the investigation, police charged a 36-year-old Belleville man with assault and breach of probation.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing. 

Domestic Assault

On the 16th of March at 1:04pm, police received a call regarding the sounds of a male and female fighting at a residence in the city’s east end.  When police arrived, everything appeared calm.  During their investigation, police learned that a male had physically assaulted a female.  There were no reported injuries.  As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 27-year-old Belleville man with one count of assault.  He was later released on an Undertaking with a court date in April. 

Arrested on Warrant

In December 2022, members of the Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division conducted a lengthy investigation into the allegations of a sexual assault on a one-month old infant by the grandfather.  Following the conclusion of the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for a 61-year-old man from Mississauga.  The male was charged with sexual assault on a person under 16, assault sexual interference and bestiality.  The accused fled the country prior to his arrest.  On the 16th of March 2025, security at the Montreal Airport contacted the Belleville Police Service advising that the accused had been arrested while re-entering the country.  With the assistance of the Surete du Quebec, the accused was transported back to Belleville where he was held for a bail hearing.  Police will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim and family.

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 48 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Assault after police were called to an address on the northside of the city on Monday. Through investigation, officers learned a verbal argument between spouses had escalated resulting in the 48 year old physically assaulting their spouse. The accused had left the area prior to police arrival. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25004370

Warrant Arrests 

A 39 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday March 17th 2025, officers on community patrol observed the individual in a vehicle travelling on Wellington Street. The 39 year old was known to police to be wanted on several outstanding warrants with our service stemming from incidents dating back to 2021. A traffic stop was conducted and the individual was arrested. The 39 year old was transported to court and was remanded into custody. ST25004353

A 72 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday March 17th 2025, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding probation warrant. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an appearance notice. Not long after being released, police were called by a cab company who wished to report the 72 year old failed to pay for their transportation. As a result, the individual has been charged with Transportation Fraud and Failure to Comply with Probation. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25004395/4402

Theft 

A 30 year old London resident has been arrested. On Monday March 17th 2025, police were called to a retail store on Talbot Street to investigate the report of the individual failing to pay for their items. Officers were provided of description of the individual who was located a short distance away and arrested. The 30 year old was charged with Theft under $5,000 and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25004396
