Switching Seats Leads To Arrest – Name Released

(HEARST, ON) – A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver is facing multiple charges after being observed switching seats with a passenger in an attempt to avoid charges during a traffic stop in Hearst.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Front Street after observing a CMV driver using a handheld communication device. A witness reported seeing the driver and passenger switch seats while the vehicle was still in motion.

Officers located the original driver hiding in the sleeper berth of the vehicle. The passenger initially denied the switch, but further investigation confirmed the deception. Additional inspection revealed multiple violations related to the driver’s daily logs and inspection reports.

As a result, Gurkirat SINGH, 27 years-of-age from Caledon was arrested and charged with:

·        Dangerous operation

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Drive – handheld communication device

·        Fail to maintain daily log

·        Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report

·        Fail to surrender completed daily inspection report

·        Fail to properly record duty status changes

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on November 5, 2025.

Additionally, the vehicle’s passenger, a 25-year-old from Mississauga, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Making a False Statement. That individual is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Hearst on November 12, 2025.

STPS Daily Update 17Sept2025

A 34 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after being identified as the person responsible for stealing a wallet from a vehicle and using the bank cards for several unauthorized transactions. On Tuesday, we were called by the victim to investigate the incident that occurred Monday evening while they were parked at an address on Talbot Street. The victim wasn’t aware their wallet had been stolen until they received an alert to their phone from their bank, flagging the fraudulent charges. Through investigation and review of available CCTV, police have identified and charged a 34 year old St. Thomas resident with:

  • Two counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Two counts of Use of Credit Card
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25016842

Assault

A 65 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after we were called to investigate the report on an assault that occurred on Friday, September 12th. Through investigation, officers learned a dispute between neighbours had escalated resulting in the accused physically assaulting the victim. As a result, the 65 year old has been charged with one count of Assault. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25016876

Warrant Arrests

A 44 year old St. Thomas resident has arrested on an outstanding probation warrant. On Tuesday, officers on community patrol located the individual who had been charged with Failing to Comply with Probation in May. The 44 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25016851

A 43 year old St. Thomas resident, charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order after failing to adhere to release conditions put in place on September 10th, has been arrested. On Tuesday, the individual was located by officers on community patrol and transported to police headquarters where they were processed to attend court. The 43 year old was released by the courts with a curfew and future court date. ST25016856/16771

A 48 year old London resident has been arrested. On Tuesday, the individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Uttering Threats and Criminal Harassment, stemming from an incident in April. The individual was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25016892/05959

A 52 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday evening, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated call for service, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for Assault, stemming from a incident in June. The 52 year old was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25016921

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. Early this morning, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 after being identified as the person responsible in a shoplifting incident from a grocery store on Talbot Street, last week. The 32 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice. ST25016925

Theft Investigations – Stolen Bikes 

An orange Norco Storm bike, valued at approximately $650 has been reported stolen. On Tuesday, we were contacted to investigate the report of a student at a school on Chestnut Street having their bike stolen. The student locked the bike to a bike rack on Monday morning and attended class. At the end of the school day, the student return to the bike rack to find the lock had been cut and the bike stolen. A blue Canam – All Terrain bike, valued at approximately $250 has been reported stolen from an address on Rickwood Place. On Tuesday, officers were called to investigate the theft that occurred at some point in the overnight hours. This remains under investigation. ST25016849

A white and black Bowie e-bike, valued at approximately $3,000 has been reported stolen from an address on Curtis Street. On Tuesday, police were called by the owner of the bike who wished to report that while at the Library for an hour, the bike that was locked and secured outside, had been stolen. CCTV is being reviewed as this remains under investigation. ST25016878

Theft Investigations – Shoplifting

$35 in grocery items have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Tuesday morning, we were called to investigate the report on an unknown individual making no attempt to pay for their items before leaving the store. CCTV that captured the incident is being provided to police. ST25016859

A 41 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested and charged with Theft under $5,000 after we called to investigate the report of the individual stealing a bottle of liquor from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Tuesday afternoon, we attended the area and located the individual who was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25016888

A 45 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Theft under $5,000 after we were called to investigate the report of a theft that had occurred. On Tuesday afternoon, we attended a retail store on Edward Street after an unknown individual had concealed several items in a backpack before leaving the store, failing to pay. Police reviewed video of the incident and identified the 45 year old St. Thomas resident. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25016880

$215 of grocery items and general merchandise has been reported stolen from a retail store on Edward Street. On Tuesday evening, we attended the store to investigate the report of an unknown individual leaving the store with the items after their payment was declined. This remains under investigation. More Home Invaders Arrested #TeenageDirtbags

The Windsor Police Service has arrested two youths following an investigation into a break-and-enter, fraud, and vehicle theft in South Windsor.

On July 12, 2025, shortly before 3 a.m., two suspects were captured on surveillance footage breaking into a residence in the 1700 block of Longfellow Avenue. Several items were stolen, including a credit card and keys to a truck.

The stolen credit card was later used at a business in the 5400 block of Tecumseh Road East and at an ONroute station along Highway 401. Investigators obtained surveillance footage of the suspects’ vehicle and were able to identify both individuals.

On July 13, 2025, investigators learned that one suspect had been arrested in London and released with curfew conditions.

A week later, the suspects returned to the same residence and stole the truck for which they had previously taken the keys. Through GPS tracking, officers located the vehicle in an alley near the 400 block of Marentette Avenue. When police attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed before being located abandoned a short time later in the 900 block of Ottawa Street.

On September 10, 2025, officers arrested a 14-year-old male in the 800 block of Hall Avenue and a 16-year-old male in the 30 block of Tuscarora Avenue.

The suspects, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, face the following charges:

16-year-old male:

  • Break-and-enter
  • Having face masked/disguised (x 2)
  • Fraud under $5,000 (x 2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000 (x 3)
  • Using a credit card obtained by offence (x 2)
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Fleeing from a peace officer
  • Failing to comply with a release order

14-year-old male:

  • Break-and-enter
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000 (x 2)
  • Using a credit card obtained by offence
  • Theft of a motor vehicle

Missing Person Rescued From Nahom Teklahaymanot

Peel Regional Police – Peel Regional Police’s Vice and Human Trafficking Unit, with support from Longueuil Police, have located a missing Quebec youth believed to be trafficked for sexual exploitation in Peel.

On Sept. 9, 2025, Peel Police were alerted by Longueuil authorities regarding the missing girl. Investigators identified a rental property in Brampton as a potential location. On Sept. 10, an adult male was arrested outside the residence, and the youth was later found safe at a second location. She has since been reunited with her family.

The accused, Nahom Teklahaymanot, a 24-year-old of St. Laurent, Quebec, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Advertising Sexual Services
  • Household Permit Sexual Services to Person between the age of 16-18 years
  • Procuring a person under 18 years old
  • Communicate For Sexual Service
  • Trafficking Persons Under 18 years old
  • Exercise Control
  • Receiving Benefit Resulting from Trafficking in Persons
  • Receive Material Benefits from Sexual Services
  • Imitation Firearm – Use While Committing an Offence

Teklahaymanot was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Disgraced Hanover Police Protect Chronic Offender Again! #HanoverHell

On Sunday, August 24th, 2025, members of the Hanover Police responded to a business in the 700 block of 7th Avenue regarding an unwanted person. On arrival police spoke with a well-known 31-year-old man of no fixed address. It was determined that the same man had been previously dealt with numerous times on the property after being told not to attend. Police arrested the man for trespassing and breaching his probation (failure to keep the peace). He was subsequently held in custody pending a bail hearing in Walkerton.

Home Invaders Arrested – Names & Photos Released

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged three men in connection with two Vaughan home invasions. Two additional suspects remain outstanding.

The investigation, dubbed ‘Project Timer’, began after two home invasions occurred on Timber Creek Boulevard on August 31 and September 10, 2025. In each incident, multiple suspects forced their way into the homes armed with weapons, including a firearm in one incident.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported.

During both home invasions, the suspects fled in a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle (SUV).

On September 16, 2025, investigators located the suspect vehicle in the area of Yorkleigh Avenue and Scarlett Road in the City of Toronto. Five occupants were seen exiting the vehicle and were preparing to commit a home invasion when investigators intervened.

Three suspects were arrested in the backyard while two others fled. At this time, there is no description for the two remaining suspects. A loaded firearm was also seized at the scene.

A dark-coloured SUV identified through the investigation was seized and determined to be stolen from Toronto.

Zachary BOYCE, 22, of no fixed address, Jacoy MONTEGUE, 21, of the City of Toronto and Jaykell WATSON, 22, of the Town of Ajax, are facing numerous charges.

Following their arrests, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Ajax. As a result, WATSON is also facing drug related charges.

Investigators are releasing their photos as they are believed to be associated to other incidents around the Greater Toronto Area.

At the time of their arrest, MONTEGUE and BOYCE were on previous release orders in connection with unrelated incidents.

Residents in the area of Yorkleigh Avenue and Scarlett Road are being asked to check their yards and video surveillance for anything that may seem out of place as two suspects remain outstanding.

Numerous Assaults In Chatham-Kent

On September 16, 2025, at approximately 07:05 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals involved in a physical altercation.

It was revealed through investigation that a 53-year-old male from Chatham, was observed choking a female by the neck and forcing her to the ground. The victim displayed visible signs of injury but declined additional assistance.

The accused was subsequently charged with the following offence:

Count 1: Assault – Causing Bodily Harm

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.

Date: September 16, 2025, Time: 08:59hrs, Location: Tilbury

On September 16, 2025, at approximately 08:59 hrs, Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of assault between two individuals in Tilbury.

Investigation reveals that an altercation escalated inside a residence, where a 39-year-old male from Chatham-Kent physically assaulted a 45-year-old female from Tilbury. The accused struck the victim multiple times, restricting her breathing.

Further investigation also revealed that the victim was also physically assaulted in a prior incident involving the accused in August 2025. The victim sustained injuries and required medical attention as a result.

As a result of the investigation, the 39-year-old male was charged with the following offences:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm x 3
  • Assault x 5
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he is currently being held for bail.

On September 17, 2025, at approximately 08:48 hrs, the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a road rage incident in Chatham.

Upon investigation, it was determined that two vehicles sideswiped each other, after which both drivers pulled off the roadway. A physical altercation then occurred between the drivers, a 32-year-old male from Chatham and a 63-year-old male. The 63-year-old male was physically assaulted, sustaining minor injuries. Additional medical assistance was not required.

As a result of the investigation, the 32-year-old male was arrested and charged with the following offence:

  • Count 1: Assault

The individual was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he was released with a scheduled future court date of October 21, 2025.

Police Arrest Two Wanted Males in Drug Investigation

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a youth and an adult in connection to an ongoing drug investigation in Waterloo Region.

As part of the investigation, on September 16, 2025, members of WRPS’ Drugs and Firearms Unit, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, arrested two males in Kitchener.

Through investigation, police determined that the arrested youth was wanted on warrants with Toronto Police Service (TPS), Peel Regional Police Service, Thunder Bay Police Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police, for over 40 offences, including eight counts of Robbery, Theft of Motor Vehicle Involving Violence, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (five counts).

The arrested adult was also wanted on a warrant from TPS for several offences, including Fail to Comply with Release Order, Obstruct Peace Officer, and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Investigators seized drugs, including suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and oxycodone. A loaded handgun was also seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male was charged with multiple offences, including: 

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possess Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (Loaded)
  • Possess Prohibited Device (Extended Magazine)
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Firearm knowing Possession Unauthorized
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance
  • Fail to Comply with YCJA Sentence
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (three counts) 

A 22-year-old male from the Greater Toronto Area was also charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

Both accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision

LONDON, ON (September 16, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service Road Safety Section continue to investigate the serious motor vehicle collision from last month.

The driver of the motorcycle, Steven Douglas Smith, 49, of London has succumbed to his injuries while in hospital.

Investigators continue to ask anyone who was in the area of Brydges Street, east of Egerton Street, on Friday, August 15, 2025, between 1:40 – 2 p.m. who may have witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam, residential, or business surveillance footage, to please contact us.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Pervert Alert – Do You Recognize This Person?

LONDON, ON (September 16, 2025) – The London Police Service (LPS) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man in relation to an ongoing investigation.

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police responded to a call in relation to a suspicious person near Attawandaron Park in the north end of the city.

Officers responded and learned that three girls walking on the pathway came across a man with a white dog.

While the girls spoke with the man about the dog, he uttered inappropriate comments about his genitals.

The girls left the area and told their parents. Police were contacted.

A description of the suspect male was provided, and police searched the area with negative results.

The suspect is described as male, White, approximately 5’9” to 6’0”, 30 – 40 years old, medium build with brown hair below the ears. He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt at the time of the reported incident and had a small white dog with him.This is an image of the suspect male

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, the suspect, or who may have been in the area between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon and have dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance, to contact the London Police Service.

London Police Send One To Hospital

LONDON, ON (September 15, 2025) – At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, a member of the London Police Service learned that a male he was speaking with in the area of Brough Avenue and University Crescent was wanted in relation to a number of outstanding warrants.

When the officer advised the suspect male that he was under arrest, he fled on foot and resisted police.

A Conducted Energy Weapon was deployed, and the male was arrested and transported to the London Police Service Headquarters Detention Center.

The male later advised LPS members that he sustained an injury as a result of the interaction.

The male was transported to hospital by paramedic services.

The male has since been released from the hospital.

The male is facing charges as a result of the investigation.

Arrest after downtown assault

A Toronto man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm after another man was attacked as he left a downtown bar early Tuesday.

Approximately 2:15 a.m. a woman called police to report her boyfriend had just been assaulted. She said they were in a verbal altercation with two men inside a bar and when they left the men followed and assaulted her boyfriend. He was transported to hospital for treatment of facial injuries.

The subject males were located a short time later just outside the downtown. A 20-year-old Toronto man is charged with assault causing bodily harm. He will appear in court October 31.

Driver ran away from stolen Porsche

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a man fled on foot from a traffic stop early Monday.

Approximately 12:45 a.m. police pulled over a black Porsche near Laird Road and Hanlon Expressway. The driver exited the sports car and ran away. Efforts to locate him were not successful. Several knives and identity documents were located inside the car.

Later Monday morning, a south-end resident reported his home had been entered sometime overnight. His Porsche, a knife collection and identity documents had been stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.

Car stolen during movie

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a car was stolen while the owner was watching a movie Monday night.

Just before 10 p.m. a Kitchener man called police to report his white 2018 Honda Accord had been stolen during the previous two hours from the Cineplex parking lot on Clair Road East. The vehicle has no aftermarket changes of distinguishing marks.

The Guelph Police Service encourages residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft. This can include parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas, ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked, employing anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered and using devices to block signals from electronic keys. Please report suspicious activity around unattended vehicles, especially during overnight hours.

Getaway driver arrested

A Toronto man who was the getaway driver for an attempted theft last month has been arrested.

Just before 5 p.m. August 18, three males with their faces covered entered a business on Eramosa Road and concealed a number of cosmetics products in reusable shopping bags. As they tried to leave the store they were confronted by loss prevention officers and advised they were under arrest.

One of the males pushed one of the staff members, causing him to stumble backwards, and all three ran from the store. While two ran across Eramosa Road, the third circled back to the parking lot and was seen speeding away in a black Audi, narrowly missing shoppers and other vehicles.

He picked up the other two and sped away.

Two Scarborough teens were earlier arrested for theft and resisting arrest. On Monday a 19-year-old Toronto man was arrested for theft under $5,000, careless driving and driving while suspended. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Arrests At Demonstration

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of multiple arrests made at a Demonstration.

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 11 a.m., police attended a demonstration at Christie Pits Park. 

It is alleged that:

  • a large group of individuals participated in a demonstration in the area
  • police provided direction to participants in an effort to have the group move along to ease traffic congestion
  • participants caused a disturbance
  • participants assaulted other participants and caused damage to property
  • participants became combative and assaulted a police officer

The following individuals were arrested and charged:

Samuel Alexander Butler, 33, of Toronto, was charged with:

Pervert Alert: 13 Year Old Approached In Stratford

The Stratford Police Service is looking for assistance from the public to identify a suspicious person from an incident that occurred on the morning of either September 2nd or September 3rd, 2025, between 8:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

On September 8, 2025, the Stratford Police Service was notified of a suspicious male who stopped at the school bus stop near the intersection of Orr Street and McCarthy Road, in the City of Stratford, and offered a 13-year-old female student a ride.

The offer for a ride was declined and there was no further interaction with the unknown male.

The male was described as East Indian descent, middle aged, and operating a dark-coloured vehicle. The male was believed to be alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Anyone who has information regarding this male is requested to contact the Stratford Police at 519-271-4141.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the danger of accepting rides, and any other items, from strangers. Anyone who has experienced a similar incident is also encouraged to contact the Stratford Police.

David O’CONNOR Was Arrested Again

On September 12, 2025, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle following two youths in the town of Red Rock. The youths were located safely and transported home by OPP members. The suspect was identified, arrested, and found to be in breach of a probation order.

David O’CONNOR, 34, from Red Rock, has been charged with:

  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly follow – two counts
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with probation order
  • Failure to comply with release order (other than to attend court)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.
