Austin ELSEMORE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police were called to a vehicle in the snowbank on Poplar Road at Lakeview Road. 

On December 13, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the location and arrested the driver of the crashed grey pickup truck. The truck was consequently towed and impounded.  

Austin ELSEMORE, 29-years-old, from Alvin, Texas was charged with:

• Operation while impaired by alcohol 

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 15, 2026.

Jacob NORMANDEAU – Drunk Driving

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a single-vehicle collision that sent three people to hospital.

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, along with the Laurentian Valley Fire Department and Renfrew County Paramedics responded to a collision on White Water Road near Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township, where a car crashed into a rock cut.

There were seven people in the vehicle. Four, including the driver, were taken to hospital. Air Ornge later transferred two of the passengers to a regional trauma centre due to the extent of their injuries. Other passengers were not seriously hurt. Passengers ranged in age from 16 to 21.

The driver was assessed at hospital and then transported to the UOV Detachment.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Jacob NORMANDEAU, age 19 of Pembroke, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Impaired operation causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm – three counts
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 13, 2026.

White Water Road remained closed overnight for the on-scene portion of the investigation.

Daniel RHODY – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On December 9, 2025, at approximately 5:40 a.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol along Highway 9 east of Kincardine, when they stopped to check a vehicle that had left the roadway.

The investigating officer spoke with the driver and detected signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside screening device was administered, resulting in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Daniel RHODY, 45-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80+, CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice on January 21, 2026, to answer to the charge.

37 Year Old From Huron-Kinloss Arrested

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron-Kinloss Township resident with a criminal driving offence following a traffic stop on Amberley Road in Morris-Turnberry Township. 

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Huron County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop and spoke to the vehicle driver who had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified OPP Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Joseph HADLEY, 37 years-of-age from Huron-Kinloss Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with four offences found in the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on December 29, 2025.

Kirk RAE & Monika GALNERT Were Arrested

(TINY TOWNSHIP, MIDLAND, ON) Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two separate impaired driving incidents in the past days, resulting in charges against drivers.

On December 11, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had slid backward into a ditch on Dawson Sideroad in Tiny Township.

Officers arrived on scene and located an occupant inside the still-running vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, police observed strong signs of impairment and noted alcohol containers inside the vehicle. The individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for breath testing.

As a result of this investigation, Kirk RAE, 57 years of Innisfil, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Over 80 Milligrams

On December 12, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers received information regarding a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of a plaza on Midland Avenue in the Town of Midland.

Officers, already on foot patrol in the area, approached the described vehicle, which was parked in an unusual manner. They identified the driver inside a convenience store. When the individual exited the store and attempted to drive away, officers intercepted them. During a discussion, signs of impairment were observed. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this investigation, Monika GALNERT, 67 years of Midland, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Resist Police Officer

The accused parties from the above occurrences were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a later date. Upon being charged with impaired driving, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

2 Charged Following Hit & Run

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested two persons and seized a number of items following a collision.

On December 11, 2025, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Emergency Medical Services (EMS), police, and fire crews responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a tree near Oak Ridges Drive and Harwood Road. Police received information that a weapon may have been inside the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene, prompting an increased police presence. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted with containment, and the individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital with minor injuries from the collision.

A search of the vehicle and surrounding area resulted in the seizure of an imitation weapon, suspected drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, Victoria WILSON (27) from the Township of Hamilton, has been charged with:

–      Obstruct peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026.

Ryan WEBB (38) from Port Hope has been charged with:

–      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

–      Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

–      Driving while under suspension

–      Fail to remain

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg

Quinn SWEENEY – Drunk Driving

(LANARK HIGHLANDS TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Lanark Highlands Township resident with impaired driving.

Officers received a suspicious vehicle complaint regarding a parked vehicle that was running on Friday, December 12, 2025, just after 2:00 a.m. on Maberly Elphin road in Lanark Highlands Township.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Quinn SWEENEY, 19-years-old, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, January 12, 2026.

 The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Daniel AMOS – Impaired Operation & Trafficking

(BEAUCAGE TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver faces impaired driving and drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop on Highway 17 west of North Bay.

On Thursday December 11, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in Beaucage Township.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer determined they had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of two bags of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, and approximately $800 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel AMOS, 62 years-of-age of West Nipissing, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on February 3, 2026. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

OPP Deployed To Town Hall Meetings As Tensions Boil Over Province Wide #FilmThePolice #FTP

(NORTH BAY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) can confirm that officers were requested in advance by the event organizers to attend a meeting held at Cassellholme on December 11, 2025. Our role in community safety includes preserving the peace and maintaining public order. In this context, we attended the event to support a safe and secure environment for all participants.

Two OPP officers were assigned to the call and remained on-site for the majority of the meeting. At one point, an OPP supervisor and an additional officer briefly attended to check on the assigned members, which accounts for the photo showing four officers.

In addition, members of the North Bay Police Service (NBPS) were present to assist, as both services work together to support community safety.

At the request of the organizers, three individuals who were already inside the auditorium were asked to leave. Officers spoke with them, and they complied without incident, remaining outside the meeting area.

There were no disturbances or enforcement actions required during the event. The role of the OPP and NBPS were solely to maintain order and support the organizers’ request for a peaceful environment.

Ryan VERCH – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2025 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 20, 2025, and will continue until January 1, 2026. During the third week of the campaign from December 4 to December 10, 2025, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 35 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.

During the RIDE checks drivers were found to be in full compliance with the law and no impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.

Despite the compliance at the RIDE checks, UOV OPP officers charged one driver with impaired driving-related offences during the week.

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police responded to an incident at a residence in Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township. An individual at the scene had been driving a side-by-side ATV. A Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 31-year-old Ryan VERCH has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 5, 2026. The accused also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their ATV was towed and impounded for 14 days.

Jared HAYES – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – A driver has been charged following a collision in Lakeshore.

 At approximately 2:45 a.m. on December 12, 2025, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single vehicle collision on Old Tecumseh Road near Walstedt Way in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

Jared HAYES, 29-years-old of Essex was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on January 7, 2025, to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated for both drivers as per statute.

James SAUNDERS Arrested For Assault

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Disturbance investigation in North Middlesex results in charge.

On December 10, 2025, at 9:59 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address in Parkhill, Municipality of North Middlesex, for the report of a disturbance.

While investigating the incident, an officer was assaulted.

The officer wasn’t injured.

James SAUNDERS, a 35-year-old of North Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in London on January 15, 2026, to speak to the charge.

Owen Sound Homicide Update – Three Accused Returned to Canada 

(OWEN SOUND, ON) – Three individuals have been extradited to Canada to face charges stemming from a homicide investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS).

On Thursday, August 17, 2023, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Sharifur Rahman, 44 years old of Owen Sound, was assaulted on 2nd Avenue East. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Thursday, August 24, 2023. As part of the investigation, police determined the suspects had fled the country, leading the OPP and OSPS to work with international partners to coordinate overseas arrests.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, Police Scotland arrested 24-year-old Robert EVANS and 47-year-old Robert Busby EVANS in Edinburgh, Scotland. On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, 54-year-old Barry EVANS was arrested by Police Scotland in Dalkeith, Scotland.

Following the extradition process, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, OPP and OSPS investigators escorted the three accused from the United Kingdom (UK) to Ontario. Assistance was provided by UK law enforcement members from the National Extradition Unit of the National Crime Agency and Police Scotland.

The three accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Friday, December 12, 2025.

The investigation was conducted by the OSPS under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance was provided by the OPP West Region Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Regional Support Team. Support was also provided by Hanover Police Service, West Grey Police Service, Police Scotland, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), Ottawa Fugitive Apprehension Support Team and UK law enforcement members from the National Extradition Unit of the National Crime Agency.

The OSPS and the OPP would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Owen Sound community and neighbouring jurisdictions for their patience and continued support as this investigation has continued. We are aware of the impact this investigation has had on the victim’s family and the local community. We are also deeply grateful to everyone who came forward with information to assist police during the investigation.

As this case is now before the courts, the OPP and OSPS cannot provide any additional information on the investigation.

Brent MILLARD & Tracey TAYLOR Were Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following separate impaired driving investigations.

On Saturday, December 6, 2025, at approximately 8:07 p.m., a Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.

After speaking with the driver, the individual was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, 58-year-old Tracey TAYLOR of Hamilton was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Obstruct Peace Officer.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, at approximately 11:51 p.m., the Norfolk County OPP responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Queensway West in Simcoe.

Officers located the driver at a nearby address and, following an interaction, took them into custody without incident.

As a result, 60-year-old Brent MILLARD of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
