5 Arrested After Traffic Stop

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged five people for numerous offenses after a traffic stop in the Town of Renfrew.

On May 5, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP conducted the stop on Gillan Road.

As a result of the investigation, all five vehicle occupants were charged.

Kiely EAST, 35 years of age from Arnprior, was charged with:

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order, three counts

·      Fail to comply with release order- other than to attend court – five counts

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- other drugs

·      Possessions of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

·      Carrying concealed weapon

Jessica MOORE, 31 years of age of Renfrew was charged with:

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- other drugs

·      Possessions of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

Jade CHARLEBOIS, 25 years of age of Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- other drugs

·      Possessions of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

Jacob PRESLEY, 27 years of age of Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- other drugs

·      Possessions of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

Jason PYE, 33 years of age from Renfrew, was charged with:

·      Breach of firearms regulation- transport firearm or restricted weapon

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

·      Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- other drugs

·      Possessions of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

All of the accused were held for bail.

Brieana River CRANE Was Arrested

(MIDLAND,ON) – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded at 4:06 p.m. April 29, 2024, to a report of shoplifting at the Jones Road Midland LCBO store resulting in the loss of a quantity of liquor. Video surveillance was obtained and reviewed by the attending officer.

On May 6, 2024 at 3:27 p.m. store staff of the LCBO Jones Road, Midland location contacted police to report another theft and were also able to provide video surveillance of the suspect and through investigation, the suspect person was identified.

On May 7, 2024 officers responded at approximately 2:00 p.m. to an assault complaint at a Rue Richelieu, Penetanguishene residence. Upon identifying the accused in the assault investigation, it was learned that the accused was also responsible for the previously investigated thefts from the LCBO.

Charged in connection to these three incidents is Brieana River CRANE 26 years of Penetanguishene with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING (two counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Assault

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a future date in June, 2024.

Siarra JONES Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On April 28, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Siarra JONES, 27-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:  

·        Adult Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

·        Adult Public Mischief

The accused has been released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 16, 2024.

Armand BREAULT – Drunk Driving

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop.

On May 7, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Levesque Street, West Nipissing.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Armand BREAULT, 89 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Jeffrey MCCURDY – Drunk Driving

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Renfrew resident with impaired driving.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Pakenham shortly before 10:30 p.m. on May 6, 2024. An approved alcohol screening device was utilized, and the driver was then arrested and transported to the detachment in Carleton Place for additional testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey MCCURDY, age 58, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 3, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Assault In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – One person is charged following an alleged assault in Kincardine.

On May 6, 2024, at 5:49 p.m., members of the South Bruce detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an altercation between two individuals at an address on Highway 21, Kincardine Township. 

Police have charged a 26-year-old individual from Sarnia with Assault.

The accused has been released from custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on June 12, 2024.

Fatal Collision In Seaforth

(SEAFORTH, ON) – A serious collision on Sparling Street Seaforth has resulted in the death of one person.

On May 8, 2024, at 10:27 a.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department, and Paramedic Services responded to a report of a serious collision involving a motor vehicle on Sparling Street, Seaforth.

A 74-year-old individual from Seaforth was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team assisted with the investigation.

Sparling Street between John Street and Market Street has since reopened at 1:05pm.

Fatal Collision Update: Hwy 21 Open

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – A collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 21 leaves one individual deceased.

On May 7, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Paramedic Services and the Intertownship Fire Department responded to a report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of the collision.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is on scene to assist with the investigation.

Highway 21 was closed between Grey Road 18 (Springmount) and Grey Road 3 in Georgian Bluffs for the investigation but has since reopened.

Fatal Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a fatal collision on Humber Station Road.

On May 7, 2024, just before 11:00 a.m., Caledon OPP and emergency crews responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle that struck the rear of commercial motor vehicle on Humber Station Road, just north of King Street, in the Town of Caledon. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 58-year-old of Mono, was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre and was later pronounced as deceased.

Humber Station Road between Castlederg Sideroad and King Street was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 905-584-2241 or 1-888-310-1122.

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Marcia Campbel, 38-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:  

·        Adult Theft Under $500 – Shoplifting

Christopher COSIER Was Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual for mischief.

On May 5, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a person causing damage to a residence on Meade Street in the Municipality of Brighton.

The accused was shortly located within the building and arrested by officers.

As a result, Christopher COSIER, 47-years-old, of no fixed address, was charged with:

–    Mischief over $5,000.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on May 6, 2024.

David TREGASKISS Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police attended Warsaw Place with Algoma Paramedic Services.

On May 6, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a Warsaw Place apartment complex in relation to an impaired driver.  The complainants reported a male in a grey Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) had fallen after exiting his vehicle in the main parking lot and paramedics were currently treating him for minor injuries. Police spoke to the driver who exhibited obvious signs of impairment by alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and charged.    

David TREGASKISS, 77-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with – Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 13, 2024.

Christopher COMMANDA Arrested Again

(WEST NIPISSINGON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with a weapon offence.

On May 4, 2024, shortly after 3:00 a.m., Nipissing West OPP observed a known wanted person, walking on King Street, West Nipissing.

Police arrested the individual for an outstanding warrant, who was currently on conditions not to carry any weapons and police seized two knives from that individual.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher COMMANDA, 24 years-of-age from West Nipissing, was charged with, carrying concealed weapon and failure to comply with release order.

The accused was held for Bail Court, then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in West Nipissing.

Jordan ASSINEWE – Drunk Driving, Speeding

(SUDBURY, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop for speeding.

On May 4, 2024, shortly before 12:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

A vehicle was stopped for traveling over 125 kilometres an hour (km/h) in a posted 90 km/h zone. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the Sudbury OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jordan ASSINEWE, 33 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1 – 49 km/h over posted limit
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 5, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Brent PATTON Was Arrested

(PETROLIA, ON) – An individual was charged in connection with a theft at a local business in Petrolia Monday night after allegedly shoplifting several items and leaving the store on foot.   

On Monday, May 6, 2024, at 9:55 p.m., members of the Lambton detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a business located in the 4400 block of Petrolia Line, Petrolia in relation to a suspected shoplifter.   

Police arrested the individual at a residence a short time later.

Brent PATTON, 19-year-old from Sarnia, Ontario is charged with the following:

  • Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on June 5, 2024.
