Drug Bust – Names Released

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two local residents for drug trafficking offences in the municipality.

At approximately 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, officers received a call for assistance at a local hotel. While responding, they located two individuals breaching court orders. Following investigation, police have seized suspected illicit substances including methamphetamine and cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

As a result of this investigation, Netania DUBROY, 20 years old, and Caroleen BEARDY, 24 years old, both from the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, have been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Failure to comply with Release Order- two counts.

BEARDY faces additional charges including:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime,
  • Obstruct Peace Officer.

Both accused have been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail and are scheduled to appear before the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on June 14, 2024.

Jeffrey BRUNNER & Michael COOPER Arrested

(PERTH COUNTY AND HURON COUNTY, ON) – On June 13, 2024, members of the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the Wellington and Grey-Bruce CSCU teams, and the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), made two arrests following a drug trafficking investigation in Perth and Huron Counties.

The Huron-Perth CSCU executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants – one at a residence on Trafalgar St. Mitchell, West Perth, and at a residence on Ainley St., Brussels, Huron East.

As a result of the search warrants, two people were arrested and two were charged. Police seized purple and yellow fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin, Canadian currency, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Police also seized a Suzuki motorcycle, believed to be stolen.

The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $25,000. The total estimated value of the seized property is $3700, and currency is just over $1600.

Michael COOPER, 42, of Huron East, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (fentanyl)

–      Obstruct Peace Officer

–      Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Jeffrey BRUNNER, 50, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (fentanyl)

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

The accused parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.

Sylver ELIJAH Was Arrested

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday June 13, 2024, at just after 6:00 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Lasalle Line, St. Clair Township.    

While on general patrol, an OPP officer observed the motor vehicle travelling on Lasalle Line and conducted a traffic stop. In speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the OPP officer suspected the driver of previously consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was consequently placed under arrest and transported to the Lambton OPP – Corunna Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings over twice the legal limit.

Sylver ELIJAH, a 19-year-old from Onieda Nation of Thames, First Nation has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus),
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol.
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No License

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on July 22, 2024. The motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of 7 days and the driver has had their license suspended for a period of 90 days.

Fatal Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – One person is deceased following a two-vehicle collision in Oxford County.

On June 13, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision at the intersection of Road 96 and 37th Line in Zorra Township.

Members of Oxford OPP, Oxford County Fire Services and Oxford County Paramedic Services responded. One of the vehicles was a motorcycle and the other was a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The driver of the SUV was the sole occupant and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 65-year-old from Dorchester, was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The Oxford OPP continues to investigate the collision, along with members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.

Sections of Road 96 and 37th Line were closed for several hours but have since reopened.

Murder – Names Released

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – Charges have been laid in connection with an ongoing investigation in Egan Township.

On May 23, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a deceased person in a wooded area in Egan Township. The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Marcel THOMA of Petawawa, who was reported missing on May 18, 2024. His death was deemed a homicide.

On June 12, 2024, one person was apprehended by members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and taken into custody in the area of Night Hawk Lake, east of Timmins. During the interaction, an OPP officer was shot, transported to hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover from the injuries. The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate in relation to this incident.

As a result of the investigation, Lucas MACDONALD, age 43, of Egan Township, has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

·      First degree murder, s. 235(1)

·      Attempt to commit murder using firearm, s. 239(1)(a.1)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on June 14, 2024.

The investigation is continuing by the South Porcupine OPP and the OPP North East Region Crime Units under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Assistance was provided by OPP specialty units, including Critical Incident Command; TRU; Emergency Response Team; Tactical Emergency Medical Services; North East Criminal Operations; North East Regional Support Team; Canine Unit; Aviation; Snowmobile, ATV and Vessel Enforcement; and, South Porcupine OPP Detachment members, as well as members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Update: Female Suspect in Custody; Suspect Vehicle Seized

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A female involved in a firearm-related incident in Delhi is now in custody, and investigators have seized the suspect vehicle.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, assisted by the Brantford Police Service, executed a search warrant at an address on Jamieson Court in Brantford, Ontario.

During the search of the property, investigators located and seized a black 2016 Ford Escape SUV. This vehicle had been identified as being involved in an incident two days earlier, where a firearm was discharged from inside the vehicle towards residences on Talbot Road and Queen Street in Delhi, Norfolk County. A male and a female were observed arriving at and leaving these addresses in this vehicle.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the female suspect was taken into custody without incident at an address on Elgin Street in Brantford, Ontario.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 24-year-old Shannon DYMENT of Brantford, Ontario:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm,
  • Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner (two counts).

The accused was detained in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe.

Search efforts for the male suspect, identified as the driver of the Ford Escape SUV, are ongoing. He was described as Caucasian, approximately 20-30 years old, and was wearing a hat, sunglasses, a black balaclava, and a white shirt on the date of the incident.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is actively conducting an ongoing investigation and is appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – Two local residents are facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP detachment and the Red Lake OPP CSCU. 

On June 12, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m., members of the OPP executed a search warrant at a residence on Pine Crescent in the City of Dryden.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, oxycodone, and methylphenidate. Other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, Mary Maicy MACHIMITY, 49-years-old, and Clayton THOMPSON, 52-years-old, of Dryden, have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts

·        Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·        Failure to comply with Undertaking

The accused individuals have been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Friday June 14, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex Centre resident facing drug trafficking charges after search warrant executed in Arva.

On June 11, 2024, members of the Middlesex-Elgin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence on Medway Road in Arva, Middlesex Centre.

CSCU members recovered just under $12,000 worth of illicit drugs, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency.

Lawand ABDUL-KADIR, a 30-year-old of Arva, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was held for bail.

The investigation is continuing.

$23,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences.

On June 12, 2024, members of the North East Region CSCU assisted by OPP West Parry Sound Detachment executed a drug warrant at a residence on Park Lane in the Town of Parry Sound.

A search of the residence, officers seized over $1000.00 in Canadian currency and a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine and Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $23,000.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Sealy, 36-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

Nicole Chevrette, 27-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused were held for Bail Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and are scheduled to appear on June 13, 2024.

Blake HORNE Was Arrested

(Smiths Falls, ON) – A Smiths Falls resident faces numerous charges after vandalism at a Smiths Falls area business.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the business on Mazie Street West around 12:30 a.m. on June 12, 2024, when it was reported that someone appeared to be “popping tires” on several vehicles. The individual had fled the scene, but a suspect was taken into custody a short time later by Smiths Falls Police.

Lanark OPP arrested the individual at the Smiths Falls Police Service.

Blake HORNE, age 26, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000 – 13 counts
  • Trespassing at night

The accused was released with conditions following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 24, 2024.

Jordan LALONDE Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a disturbance call on Hirshhorn Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. police were called to an intoxicated male causing a disturbance by yelling, swearing, and throwing things. Police spoke to the male who was acting very bizarre and not making any sense. He also identified himself as somebody police later found to be a different person. After investigation, it was learned the male was wanted and there was a warrant out for his arrest. 

Jordan LALONDE, 33-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective

The accused was scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on June 7, 2024.

Arrest At High School

(BRANT, ON) – At approximately 10:53 a.m. today, the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance at Paris District High School.

In accordance with standard procedure, the school initiated a hold and secure protocol.

Brant County OPP officers promptly arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. The individual involved in the disturbance was located and taken into custody without incident.

The hold and secure measures were in place for approximately 5 minutes and have since been lifted. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. One youth is currently in police custody.

Jennifer REES Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a prior theft from a retail store on Ontario Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On June 8, 2024, store staff reported that a female was caught on security video stealing numerous items and then departed the store without paying. Total value of the products was approximately $1000. The female was later identified and subsequently arrested.    

Jennifer REES, 43-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with: Theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

Spenser MOORE Was Arrested

(MOOSONEE, ON) – A traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver led to multiple criminal charges.

On June 12, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Quarry Road in Moosonee.  

Police located and stopped the subject vehicle on Quarry Road, and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Moosonee detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Spenser MOORE, 22 years of age of Moosonee, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Resist peace officer

·        Dangerous operation

·        Take motor vehicle without consent

·        Obstruct peace officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 6, 2024, in Moosonee.

Restricted Weapon – 2 Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two arrests in three days in relation to possession of a prohibited weapon.

On June 10, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Fifth Street in the town of Cochrane, when an officer observed a person swinging nunchaku, a prohibited weapon.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Having open liquor in an unauthorized place

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024.

On June 12, 2024, shortly before 2:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a report of shoplifting from a business on Highway 11 West, in Cochrane.

Police located two persons a short time later in relation to the shoplifting complaint on Second Street in Cochrane.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Further, Erica TREPANIER, 31 years of age of Cochrane was found to be in possession of nunchaku, and was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.
