Pedestrian Collision – Melanie NICHOLAS-SNAKE Arrested

(MUNSEE-DELAWARE FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired after vehicle strikes pedestrian.

On March 29, 2025, at 6:13 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Munsee-Delaware First Nation Police, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police, Oneida Nation Police and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to Middlemiss Drive in in Munsee-Delaware First Nation for the report of a single vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex County OPP detachment.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital as a precaution with minor injuries.

As a result, Melanie NICHOLAS-SNAKE, a 23-year-old of Melbourne, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Dangerous operation

·      Assault with A Weapon

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 24, 2025, to speak to the charges.

5 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy with impaired driving offences after multiple incidents saw five drivers charged with impaired driving over a period of three days.

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP were on patrol when they located a vehicle in the ditch at a local business on Highway 65 East in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Eric MIRON, 30 years-of-age of New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle -perform a stunt

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP were on patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation, on West Road in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Tiffany AUBE, 34 years-of-age of Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Speeding

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 9:55 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded a traffic complaint of a possible impaired, on King Street in Temiskaming Shores. Moments later, officers located the vehicle and the driver at a residence on Watson Place in Cobalt.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle MURASKA, 39 years-of-age of Cobalt, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On March 23, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded a vehicle in the ditch on Poupore Road in Armstrong Township.

As a result of the investigation, Jason BISSONNETTE, 29 years-of-age of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under criminal code – two counts
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

On March 23, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Lakeshore Road in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Gary LATHEM, 69 years-of-age of North Cobalt, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The drivers were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and all vehicles have been impounded.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury to answer to the charges in the upcoming weeks.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring our roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers. Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads.

Preston GLEAVE – Impaired Driving

(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual has been charged with impaired operation following a collision on Highway 402.

On March 30, 2025, just after 1:05 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle in the center median on Highway 402, east of First School Road, Warwick Township.

No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, Preston GLEAVE, 30-year-old of Plympton-Wyoming, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on May 19, 2025.

Mount Forest Resident Arrested – Details Released

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge Mount Forest resident in relation to property damage to local businesses.

Between March 11 and March 12, 2025, members of the Wellington County OPP received reports of property damage at two businesses on Industrial Drive in Mount Forest.

It was reported that an individual entered upon one of the properties and damaged two parked vehicles. The same individual later attended another nearby business and damaged a security camera.

As a result of the investigation, Wellington County OPP arrested an individual on March 28, 2025. George Hammill, a 51-year-old of Mount Forest, has been charged under the criminal code with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property (two counts)
  • Possession of break In Instruments (2 counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph.

Injured Bobcat Rescued

(ESPANOLA, ON) – An injured bobcat is now in the care of a wildlife rehabilitation centre after police received a call.

On March 27, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a member of the public stating that there was a bobcat in their garage, and they needed help removing it. Police attended the residence, and once the bobcat was removed from the garage, officers noticed that it was injured. The Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre was contacted, and the bobcat was transferred into their care.

The Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre provides rehabilitation to injured, ill and orphaned wildlife in Northern Ontario. We want to thank the Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre for their quick response and willingness to assist with this injured bobcat.

Wesley FAVERO – Impaired Driving

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge an Arthur resident with offences in relation to an impaired driving investigation.

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 6 north of Fergus. Officers arrived in the area, located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6 near Sideroad 9, south of Arthur.

As a result of the investigation, Wesley FAVERO, a 39-year-old of Arthur is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on April 8, 2025.

Melissa SLATER Assault With Weapon

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an assault investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 2:14 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported assault on Owen Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a paramedic had an interaction with another individual in the area, during which the paramedic was physically assaulted. No injuries were reported.

As a result, one individual was taken into custody without incident.

31-year-old Melissa SLATER from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Assault with a weapon.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

April WYNNE Was Arrested Again

(COCHRANE, ON) – A routine patrol by James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Cochrane resulted in an impaired driving charge after officers stopped a vehicle linked to an unlicensed driver.

On March 29, 2025 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Sixth Street, when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system flagged a vehicle registered to an unlicensed driver. Police conducted a traffic stop on First Avenue and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Timmins Police Service detachment for further testing.

As a result, April WYNNE 37 years-of-age from Cochrane, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration

·        Failure to comply with release order

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 15, 2025, in Cochrane. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Robert WEAVER Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested for impaired operation at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Lee Valley Road and Barber Street in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and an investigation was initiated. As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver, Robert WEAVER, 30-years-old from Webbwood, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 5, 2025.

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – One person has been charged following a traffic stop in Leamington.

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Talbot Street East in the Municipality of Leamington.

Jacob REIMER, 27-years-old of Wheatley, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 11, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Lorna DAVY – Drunk Driving

(OTONOBEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after receiving a call from EMS.

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 5:15pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a reported unconscious driver at the side of Wallace Point Road. A passerby contacted EMS and managed to get into the vehicle to check on the well being of the driver.

EMS attended the scene and began to transport the driver to a local hospital, but the driver who had regained consciousness became agitated. OPP officers met up with the ambulance and accompanied them to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, after ensuring the well being of the driver, officers spoke with the driver and an arrest was made for Impaired Driving.

Lorna DAVY (age 62) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 29, 2025

Dante RECOLLET – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing impaired-related charges after a motor vehicle collision in Espanola.

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a single vehicle collision on Highway 6 in Espanola. Police arrived on scene, and as a result of further investigation the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver was transported to a local hospital by Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, the driver, Dante RECOLLET, 22-years-old from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 5, 2025.

Kem DEBASSIGE Was Arrested

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person is facing charges as a result of a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check in Little Current.

On March 27, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Meredith Street East, in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and an investigation was initiated when officers observed signs that the driver may be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was completed with the driver, and as a result and arrest was made.

The driver, Kem DEBASSIGE, 54-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on May 6, 2025.

The OPP has highly trained Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) officers who are skilled in the detection and investigation of drug impaired drivers. Josh PAYEUR Was Arrested – Details Released

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON) – An individual is facing an impaired driving charge after a traffic stop in Sault Ste. Marie.

On March 23, 2025 at approximately 3:57 p.m., an officer with the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police was conducting general patrol on Great Northern Road, when their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them to a vehicle that was registered to a suspended driver.

While following the vehicle, the officer observed it make multiple lane changes and accelerate quickly from an intersection. A traffic stop was conducted, and investigation determined the driver was impaired by an intoxicating substance.

As a result, Josh PAYEUR, 24 years-of-age, of Sault Ste. Marie was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Drive vehicle with Cannabis readily available
  • Fail to surrender licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 14, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
