23 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(THESSALON, ON)- East Algoma OPP lays 21st impaired charge in 2025.

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrols in the Town of Thessalon when they observed a black pickup truck travelling westbound at a high rate of speed on Lakeside Drive.

A traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17 near Lakeside Drive. During the interaction with the driver, police determined that alcohol had been consumed. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the Thessalon detachment for further testing.

Gabriel MERRYLEES, 23 years-of-age from Echo Bay was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80) plus

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 7, 2025.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the involved vehicle was impounded for 7days.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring our roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers. Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads.

Infant Dead – 2 Charged With Manslaughter

(WAWA, ON) -Police have arrested and charged two individuals in relation to an infant death that occurred one and a half years ago.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a hospital in Wawa where an infant was brought in by family members with no vital signs.

A thorough investigation was conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie and Superior East OPP Crime Units, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the OPP Regional Support Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

As a result of the investigation, Steffani OLIVER, 28 years old of Sault Ste. Marie, and Amanda TAYLOR, 31 years old of Goulais River, were arrested and each charged with Manslaughter, contrary to section 236(b) of the Criminal Code.

Both accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Assault & Threats – Christopher CHURCH Arrested

(PORTLAND, ON) – An individual is facing multiple charges after a heated dispute involving threats and an assault, as well as further incidents at a local hospital.

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m., members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance in Portland. An officer was required to deploy their Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW, commonly referred to as a Taser) to arrest an individual at the scene. The individual was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

While at the hospital, further threats were made against medical staff.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Christopher CHURCH of Portland is charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief – destroy or damage property
  • Mischief – obstruct, interrupt or interfere
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice on June 27, 2025.

75 Year Old From Parkhill Arrested

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after two-vehicle collision in North Middlesex.

On June 7, 2025, at 7:14 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex London Paramedic Service and North Middlesex Fire were dispatched the intersection of Centre Road and Nairn Road in North Middlesex for report of a serious two-vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck.

Four individuals from the passenger vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Mary GLANVILLE, a 75-year-old of Parkhill has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 22, 2025.

Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A two vehicle crash has claimed the life of one person and has sent two others to hospital with injuries.

On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at approximately 3:33 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Department and Haldimand County EMS responded to a collision at Argyle Street South near Highway 6 in Caledonia.

It has been determined that a motor vehicle and sports utility vehicle collided on Argyle Street South, east of Highway 6. The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased. A passenger in vehicle was transported to hospital to be treated for serious life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was also transported to hospital to be treated for serious non-life-threatening injuries.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Argyle Street South, East of Highway 6 and witnessed the collision – or has any relevant information – to contact the Haldimand County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Jordan COOPER Facing Numerous Charges

(ATHENS, ON) – A member of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on routine patrol earlier this year and located and arrested an individual accused of numerous thefts in parts of Leeds County, with that individual now facing more than a dozen charges.

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, shortly after 4:00 p.m., an officer on patrol in Athens spotted a vehicle that had been connected to multiple thefts. The driver was arrested without incident.

31-year-old Jordan COOPER of North Dundas is charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000                                                                                                                                                       
  • Driver fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Obstruct plate
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Window obstructed
  • No clear view to rear

45 Year Old From Parkhill Arrested

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after single vehicle collision.

On June 6, 2025, at 6:35 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Centre Road in North Middlesex for report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Joseph KILMER, a 45-year-old of Parkhill has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 29, 2025.

There were no injuries reported.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(MIDLAND, ON)- A disturbing streak of local impaired driving investigations by officers of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continued over the weekend. Officers were called on last week on June 3 and June 5 and were further called upon to conduct impaired driving investigations on June 6, 7 and 8, 2025.

On June 6, 2025 at approximately 11:03 p.m. officers responded to a report from a community member of a possible impaired involved in a traffic incident on First Street, Midland. An officer conducting a follow up patrol located the suspect vehicle on Robert Street East, Penetanguishene at 11:27 p.m. and commenced an impaired driving investigation after making a traffic stop and speaking with the driver.

As a result, 21 year old Penetanguishene resident Adam WRIGHT has been charged with the criminal offence of Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) in relation to this investigation

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on June 19, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

On June 7, 2025 at approximately 6:15 p.m. a community member reported a possible impaired driver in a Midland Avenue, Midland retail parking lot and the responding officer located the suspect vehicle shortly afterwards at approximately 6:31 p.m. in a Simcoe County Road 93, Midland retail parking. An impaired driving investigation was commenced upon the officer speaking with the driver.

As a result of this investigation, 57 year old Midland resident Wayne SHATFORD has been charged criminally with the offences of Operation while impaired – alcohol and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on June 26, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Lastly, at approximately 9:50 p.m. on June 8, 2025, an officer heading east on Heritage Drive, Midland from Detachment on route to a call for service noticed the apparent driving of the eastbound vehicle directly ahead and made a traffic stop resulting in the officer entering into an impaired driving investigation upon speaking with the driver.

As a result of this investigation, 42 year old Midland Alpesh Kumar PATEL has been charged criminally with the following driving offence of Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and further with the provincial offences of Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor, Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on June 26, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Sabastien FOSTER Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person for failing to comply with a release order.

On Monday, June 9, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers were investigating a suspicious person in the Town of Bancroft. When officers spoke with the party, it was determined that they were not following the conditions of their release order and were arrested.

Sabastien FOSTER, 28, of Toronto has been charged with failure to comply with a release order – two counts.

FOSTER was held for bail and remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 11, 2025.

Dale WEBB Was Arrested

(MUNCIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – On June 9, 2025 members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the village of Codrington.

At approximately 4:45 pm a concerned citizen called police to report that a grey Honda sedan was parked on County Road 30 with an individual inside leaning on the steering wheel. The driver was not overly responsive when the citizen inquired if they were ok.

Police located the described vehicle parked on an angle on the northbound shoulder facing southbound with the lights on. The officer observed an individual matching the description provided exit the drivers seat and to be unsteady on his feet with a strong odor of alcohol emanating from their breath. Officers additionally observed there to be opened cans of alcohol within the vehicle. The individual was arrested for Impaired Operation and transported to the Brighton detachment for further investigation.

As a result of the investigation Dale WEBB (age 46) of Uxbridge, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Liquor License and Control Act (LLCA) and the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA) with:

  • Class G1licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver (HTA)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero (HTA)
  • Interfere with traffic (HTA)
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor (LLCA)
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes (TTA)

The accused received an immediate 90 day license suspension, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in July 2025. The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days  

The Northumberland OPP would like to remind the public that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath upon an officers demand carries the same consequences as ‘Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs’, and ‘Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)’.

The OPP remains committed to enforcing impaired driving laws and educating road users about the dangers posed by motorists who drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

James HAY Was Arrested After Docking Zone Incident

Orillia, ON – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired operation of a vessel following an incident in a restricted docking zone.

On June 9, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Orillia OPP officers responded to reports of a boat operator attempting to dock in a restricted area at the Old Cruises Fishing Dock. Witnesses provided officers with a description of the individual, who, during the docking attempt, severed the lines of a local fisherman.

Upon arrival, police conducted an impaired operation investigation. Based on interactions with the individual and witness statements, officers determined that the boat operator was under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, James HAY, age 61, of Orillia, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on July 08, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia

Jordan MILLS Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a break and enter in Temiskaming Shores.

On June 4,2025 at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a suspicious person call at a residence on Blackwall Street in Temiskaming Shores. The investigation led officers to locate an intoxicated person and stolen items. 

Jordan MILLS, 31 years-of-age from Cobalt, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000 – two counts
  • Breach of recognisance – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000- two counts

The accused remains in custody and is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, at a later date.

Pervert Alert – Peter ASSELSTINE Arrested – Details Released

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after a complaint of indecent acts in the Town of Perth.

On Monday June 9, 2025, police responded to an apartment building in Perth for a report of a suspicious person exposing themself in the hallway. Surveillance video shows that, since May, a man had been repeatedly performing indecent acts while standing in the hall.

As a result of the investigation, Peter ASSELSTINE, 56 years-of-age, of the Town of Perth, has been charged with:

·        Criminal harassment – three counts

·        Indecent act in public place – two counts

The individual was held custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three drivers with impaired following a traffic complaint.  

On June 5, 2025, just after 2:00 p.m., OPP received information regarding a vehicle in the line of traffic coming through the road detour that was in place due to a previous serious collision. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Chanelle KENNEDY, 34 years old, of Deep River was charged with impaired operation.

Second, On June 8, 2025, just after 1:00 a.m., a complaint was received of a person who left a local establishment and left in a vehicle. The vehicle was located by police a short time later on Pembroke St. E. in the City of Pembroke. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

Alexander HOWIE, 26 years old, of Almonte was charged with impaired operation.

Also on June 8, 2025, just after 6:00 p.m., OPP were notified of a single vehicle collision on Palmer Rapids Rd. in Brundell-Lyndoch-Raglan Twp. upon arrival the driver was identified. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

John MAYHEW, 52 years old, of Brundell-Lyndoch-Raglan Twp. Was charged with impaired operation.

All of the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days. The accused persons were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.

4 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four drivers with impaired related charges within a week

On May 23, 2025, just after 11:00 a.m., OPP received a traffic complaint on Highway 17. Police located the vehicle. The driver was transported to detachment to complete further tests.

Richard KOHLI, 59 years old, of Niagara Falls was charged with impaired operation.

Then on May 24, 2025, just before 11:30 a.m., OPP received another traffic complaint of an erratic driver. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of a business on Pembroke St. E.

Rejean LEVESQUE, 77 years old, from the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation was charged with failure to provide a sample.

Next, on May 28, 2025, just after 12:00 p.m., OPP received another traffic complaint for a possible impaired driver on Highway 17. The vehicle was located a short time later. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Shawn PATTERSON, 56 years old, from Pembroke was charged with impaired operation.

Finally, on May 30, 2025, just after 10:30 p.m., OPP received information regarding a vehicle driving recklessly in Killaloe. Police later located a vehicle matching the description on Winnie Rd. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing. 

Daniel McCAFFREY, 55 years old, of Wilno was charged with impaired operation and failure to provide a sample.

Each of the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.
