Brett DYCK – Impaired Driving

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin Detachment, has charged an individual at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) program in Central Elgin.

On August 1, 2025, at approximately 3:16 a.m., police took driver into custody without incident.

As a result, Brett DYCK, 31-years-old of London is charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs – 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus) – 320.14(1)(b)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on September 16, 2025.

2 Children Dead Following Incident In Dryden

(Dryden, ON) – Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a drowning incident that claimed the lives of two children.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 4:10 pm, officers responded to a report of two youths observed entering the Wabigoon River in the City of Dryden. A 15-year-old male and a 12-year-old female did not resurface from the water.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Dryden Fire Service and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the location to assist. Both youths were located and recovered from the water by emergency personnel. They were transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victims is not being released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The OPP would like to thank members of the public who provided assistance.

Lance CHEVRETTE Was Arrested

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one person for brandishing a knife.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a weapons call near James Street in Parry Sound. It was reported the individual was shouting and walking around with a knife.

The person was located, a short time later, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine, OPP Remotely Piloted Aerial System (Drone) and OPP Aviation.

As a result, Lance CHEVRETTE, 31 years-old, of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

·        Fail to comply with release order

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Fraser KENNEY – Drunk Driving

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after receiving a concern from a member of the public.

On July 28, 2025, at 8:35 p.m., Bracebridge OPP responded to a concern from a member of the public about a possible impaired driver in the area of Steamship Bay Road in Gravenhurst. An officer located the vehicle a short distance away, conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 34-year-old Fraser KENNEY of London, ON with Operation while impaired- Over 80. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 26, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Donna CARREAU – Drunk Driving

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – One person has been charged following a collision in Kingsville.

On July 31, 2025, at approximately 7:11 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 8 in the Town of Kingsville. 

Donna CARREAU, 35-years-old of Tecumseh, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on August 12, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Alveen AHMED – Sexual Assault

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – One individual is facing Criminal Code charges following a sexual assault investigation.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, members of the Brant County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual in relation to an ongoing sexual assault investigation that occurred in January 2025 in Brant County.

As a result of the investigation, Alveen AHMED, age 28, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Sexual assault, section 271
  • Assault, section 265
  • Forcible confinement, section 279(2)

The accused was remanded into custody for a bail hearing and subsequently released. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on a later date.  

A publication ban has been issued and as a result, the OPP will not be able to release further information.

Kody BERDAN Was Arrested Again

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against an individual following a breach of court-ordered conditions in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, shortly before 12:30 p.m., officers were conducting general patrols in the area of Young Street in Alliston when they observed a male known to police, who is currently bound by a house arrest condition, travelling in the area.

Upon further investigation, officers confirmed the individual was in violation of his release conditions.

As a result, Kody BERDAN, 36 years old, of New Tecumseth, was placed under arrest and charged with the following offence:

  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Failure to comply with probation order

The accused individual was held for a bail hearing and are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Fabio GAGLIARDI Facing Numerous Charges

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 6:36 a.m., an officer from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on First Street at Oak Street in Collingwood. The early morning stop led to the arrest of a Wasaga Beach resident on multiple charges.

Fabio GAGLIARDI, 42 years old, of Wasaga Beach, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol, Criminal Code
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Criminal Code
  • Drive motor vehicle – no permit, Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to surrender insurance card, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Having liquor in open container, Liquor Licence and Control Act
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, Cannabis Control Act
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero, Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on September 9, 2025.

As the Civic Long Weekend approaches, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP will be focusing on driving behaviours that are contributors to serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways.

The OPP reminds all motorists that road safety is a shared responsibility. Officers will be out in full force this long weekend to help ensure everyone arrives at their destination safely.

Theft – MUTTER & RESENDES

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – Essex County OPP has charged two individuals after a bicycle theft investigation in Leamington.

In June of 2025, Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) initiated a proactive “bait bicycle” initiative to address the numerous thefts of bicycles in the Municipality of Leamington. This involves the placement of an identified bike and the apprehension of anyone who chooses to steal it.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Zachary MUTTER, 33 years of age from Leamington was arrested and charged with:

  • .Theft Under $5000
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Possession Break-In Instruments

Steven RESENDES, 51 years of age from Leamington was arrested and charged with:

  • .Theft Under $5000
  • Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Possession Break-In Instruments

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with alcohol related offences.

On July 26, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision in the area of Old School Road and Mississauga Road, in the Town of Caledon. Shortly after, officers arrived on scene and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Following the investigation, Sukhjit DHESI, 47, of Georgetown, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm – two counts

On July 29, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Caledon OPP conducted a traffic stop upon a vehicle that travelled through a RIDE program on Kennedy Road, near Old School Road, in the Town of Caledon. Officers investigated and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Navraj SIDHU, 43, of Caledon, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 14, 2025, to answer to their charges. The vehicles were also impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licences were suspended for a period of 90 days.

The OPP remains committed to keeping our communities safe through enforcement and public education. Penalties for failure or refusal to comply with demand are similar to those imposed upon a driver charged with operation while impaired. These penalties include an immediate 90-day licence suspension, seven-day vehicle impoundment, as well as licence reinstatement fees. Additional penalties are imposed upon conviction and increase for each proceeding offence.

Jared WILLIAMS Was Arrested Again, Assault, Weapons, Etc.

(WALPOLE ISLAND FIRST NATION, ON) – The Walpole Island Police Service has charged one individual following an assault.

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Walpole Island Police Service along with Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault at the intersection of Old Ferry Road and Union Hall Road.

It was determined that the victim was assaulted with an edged weapon and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused was located at a nearby residence and arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Jared WILLIAMS, a 30-year-old of Walpole Island First Nation was charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused remains in police custody and is being held pending a bail hearing. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia.

One Dead In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON)– On Wednesday, July,30, 2025, at approximately 1:18 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Paramedic Services and Meaford Fire Department, responded to a report of an individual found unresponsive in the water at a waterfront property on Cedar Avenue, along Georgian Bay in the Municipality of Meaford.

Bystanders were able to recover the individual and initiated CPR until paramedics arrived. Despite resuscitation efforts, the 55-year-old from Ottawa was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another Fatal Collision


(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON)
 – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews attended the scene of a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road.

At approximately 2:45pm on Tuesday July 29, 2025, Peterborough County OPP officers along with Otonabee-South-Monaghan (OSM) Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to a serious single vehicle collision on Bensfort Road south of Base Line. Officers arrived and observed a single vehicle in the ditch that had come in contact with the hydro pole resulting in hydro lines being downed. Hydro attended and dealt with the hydro wires allowing First Responders to access the vehicle.

As a result of the collision, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 66-year-old female from Peterborough was pronounced as deceased at the scene.

Bensfort Road remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and officers trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Christopher LAMORIE – Assault With Weapon

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after investigating a collision involving a bicycle.

On July 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka EMS, responded to reports from members of the public about a collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle that occurred on Pinedale Road in Gravenhurst. Callers reported that a vehicle approached the cyclist from the rear and made contact with a tire, causing the rider to be ejected. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police have arrested and charged 45-year-old Christopher LAMORIE, of Gravenhurst, with Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Stop after Accident. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 26, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Tow Truck Operator Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON)- An Etobicoke resident became the subject of a drinking and driving investigation after the OPP Communication Centre was in receipt of numerous complaints by community members of a passed out, possibly impaired driver in a parked tow truck on Broad Street, Penetanguishene on July 26, 2025.

Officers of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene at approximately 6:13 a.m. and after parking their cruisers to prevent the driver from fleeing, they spoke with the driver after awaking him and entered into an impaired driving investigation which was continued at the Detachment.

Upon completion of the investigation, 27 year old Anderson Romero ULATE has been charged with the following criminal driving offences of –

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on August 14, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
