Christopher BAKSH Was Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a report of a fraud in progress.

On September 12, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., OPP were notified that a person was attempting to open an account at a financial institution on Front Street West in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The representative believed the individual to be using fraudulent details to verify identity.

Police arrived and began an investigation relating to the person and documents presented by the accused.

As a result, Christopher BAKSH (44) from Scarborough, was arrested and charged with:

–      Obstruct Peace Officer

–      Use, deals, acts on forged document

–      Possession of a forged document with intent

–      Possession of an identity document purporting to another

The individual was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Weapons Incident Puts Secondary School In “Hold & Secure”

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), placed Fenelon Falls Secondary School in a hold and secure following an emergency call for service.  

On Tuesday September 16, 2025 at approximately 9:38 am, City of Kawartha Lakes OPP received a call for service regarding a group of teenagers walking towards Fenelon Falls Secondary School one carrying what was believed to be a pipe bomb or large firework. Officers responded and quickly located the person in question. Fenelon Falls Secondary School was in a hold and secure for just under 15 minutes. The youth cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) but was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Public Mischief

The accused was released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

26 Year Old From Stratford Arrested – Details Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Strathroy resident with criminal driving offences following a traffic complaint in the Municipality of South Huron, on August 28th, 2025. 

Just before 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Huron County OPP officers stopped a motorist on Mount Carmel Drive in South Huron after police received information that the driver may be driving while impaired. Police spoke to the driver and discovered that they had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Mariah STANILAND MILLER, 26 years of age from Strathroy has been charged with:

–      Impaired Operation – alcohol and drug,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for 7 days and the accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on September 29, 2025.

AI Used To Arrest Huron East Resident In Seaforth

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with a number of offences following a traffic stop on August 29th, 2025. 

On Friday, August 29th, just before 1:00 p.m., Huron County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East after the police vehicle automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) system alerted to a vehicle.  

The investigating officer discovered that the driver was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code and was subsequently placed under arrest and taken into custody. The driver had also consumed alcohol prior to driving and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Stolen property was also discovered inside the accused’ vehicle.

Jason VANBELLE, 50 years-of-age from Huron East, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Prohibited,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Fail to Comply with Undertaking,

–      Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000,

–      Altering/Destroying/Removing a vehicle identification number.

The accused was additionally charged with four offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hwy 7 Sexual Assault – Details Released

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – One individual is facing Criminal Code charges following a sexual assault investigation.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit assisted with the investigation.

On September 9, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) launched an investigation after receiving information of a sexual assault which occurred on Highway 7 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Jeffrey MAST, a 60-year-old from Guelph-Eramosa Township, was charged on September 16, 2025, under the Criminal Code with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Criminal Harassment

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on October 24, 2025.

Switching Seats Leads To Arrest – Name Released

(HEARST, ON) – A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver is facing multiple charges after being observed switching seats with a passenger in an attempt to avoid charges during a traffic stop in Hearst.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Front Street after observing a CMV driver using a handheld communication device. A witness reported seeing the driver and passenger switch seats while the vehicle was still in motion.

Officers located the original driver hiding in the sleeper berth of the vehicle. The passenger initially denied the switch, but further investigation confirmed the deception. Additional inspection revealed multiple violations related to the driver’s daily logs and inspection reports.

As a result, Gurkirat SINGH, 27 years-of-age from Caledon was arrested and charged with:

·        Dangerous operation

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Drive – handheld communication device

·        Fail to maintain daily log

·        Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report

·        Fail to surrender completed daily inspection report

·        Fail to properly record duty status changes

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hearst on November 5, 2025.

Additionally, the vehicle’s passenger, a 25-year-old from Mississauga, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Making a False Statement. That individual is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Hearst on November 12, 2025.

David O’CONNOR Was Arrested Again

On September 12, 2025, officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle following two youths in the town of Red Rock. The youths were located safely and transported home by OPP members. The suspect was identified, arrested, and found to be in breach of a probation order.

David O’CONNOR, 34, from Red Rock, has been charged with:

  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly follow – two counts
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with probation order
  • Failure to comply with release order (other than to attend court)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.

Theft Arrests – Details Released

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged several individuals in connection with unrelated theft investigations.

On September 13, 2025, police received a report regarding the theft of photography equipment from a residence on Rutherford Road in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The items were believed to have been stolen by a family member.

Following an investigation, officers arrested one individual the following day.

A 34-year-old male, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

–      Theft over $5,000

The accused shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim. They are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.

On August 29, 2025, police received a report regarding the theft of a debit card belonging to a resident of Trent Hills. An investigation revealed the card had been used at multiple points of sale and cash withdrawal points.

As a result, two individuals were identified and arrested on September 15, 2025.

Robert REID (41) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

–      Theft over $5,000

Sandra STORY (38) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

–      Theft over $5,000

Both accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in October.

Deceased Person Located

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking public assistance in relation to the discovery of a deceased person in Torrance.

On Monday, September 15, 2025, shortly after 12:00 p.m., the Bracebridge OPP responded to the report of a deceased person discovered in a remote area near Hardy Lake Road. Investigators believe there is no immediate threat to the general public at this time.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the Hardy Lake Road area between Sunday, September 14, 2025, and Monday, September 15, 2025, and may have dashcam footage or other relevant information to contact police. Even footage that may appear unrelated could contain critical details that support the investigation.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Ashvin BALAKUGAN Was Arrested For Theft

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – One additional individual has been charged in connection with a theft from a commercial premises in Colborne.

On October 11, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft from a business located on Toronto Street in Colborne. It was reported that several individuals stole approximately $865 worth of liquor. On September 10, 2025, officers located and arrested two individuals in relation to the investigation.

On September 12, 2025, a third individual was taken into custody.

As a result, Ashvin BALAKUGAN (20) of Toronto, has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000 – Shoplifting

All three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in October.

West Perth Pervert Alert – OPP Withhold Name Endangering Community’s Children

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance involving an investigation that occurred over the weekend.

On September 14, 2025 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Perth County OPP responded to a report of a suspicious person near Montreal Street between St George Street and St Andrew Street in the town of Mitchell where a victim reported being approached by a male.

At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a second report of a suspicious person at the Lion’s Park in the town of Mitchell where a second victim reported being approached by a male. 

As a result, a 68-year-old from West Perth has been charged under the Criminal Code with two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 years of age. The accused was held for bail and subsequently remanded into custody.

Don JOHNSON Was Arrested – Details Released

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police stopped a car on Joubin Road.

On September 14, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of the driver.   Police observed signs of alcohol impairment and failed the approved screening device. The person was subsequently arrested and vehicle was towed and impounded. 

Donald (Don) JOHNSON, 61-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 9, 2025.

Pervert Jerks It While Facing School – Name Released

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On September 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an indecent act related occurrence at a plaza on Hillside Drive. 

The complainant reported that a male was inside a small grey Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) parked in the plaza facing the school, pleasuring and exposing himself. The witness also photographed the elderly male and vehicle prior to calling police. The male departed before police arrival but was later arrested at his Chalmers Crescent residence.

Rolland FOISY, 77-years-old, of Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with – Indecent Act – Public Place.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 13, 2025.

25 Year Old From Fergus Charged

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Fergus resident with stunt driving, stemming from a traffic stop.

On September 13, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Jones Baseline within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Fail to notify change of address

Anyone charged with ‘drive motor vehicle – perform stunt’ receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court – Guelph, at a later date
