Jessica SHARPE Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An investigation into a collision in Simcoe led to charges against a prohibited driver.

At approximately 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a collision involving two Sports Utility Vehicles at the intersection of Norfolk County Highway 24 East and St. John’s Road in Simcoe, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, police determined that one of the drivers was prohibited from driving. The individual was taken into custody without incident.

45-year-old Jessica SHARPE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Driving while under suspension,
  • Fail to yield to traffic on through highway.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

Craig LAWSON Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A traffic stop in Courtland resulted in charges for a prohibited driver.

At approximately 8:02 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment initiated a traffic stop and investigation on Main Street of Courtland in Courtland, Norfolk County, after receiving a licence plate status alert from the police cruiser’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

The investigation revealed that the driver was prohibited from driving. They were subsequently taken into custody without incident.

45-year-old Craig LAWSON from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Arson – 2 Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals connected to an ongoing investigation into a series of suspicious fires have been arrested and are facing charges.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County and Haldimand County Detachments, investigators from the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit, members of the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, and the Haldimand County Fire Department, responded to a structure fire on Lynn Valley Road, east of Highway 6, in Haldimand County.

The fire involved a vacant barn, and no injuries were reported as a result.

Around 10:49 p.m., officers stopped a pickup truck on Concession 12 Townsend in Norfolk County. The vehicle matched the description of a pickup truck seen near a suspicious fire that occurred in Norfolk County in November 2024.

As a result, the driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.

Investigators have determined that these individuals were involved in multiple similar incidents throughout Norfolk County between November 2024 and January 2025.

30-year-old Matthew SMITH from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Arson – damage to property (11 counts),
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order.

43-year-old Chad REIMER from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Arson – damage to property (11 counts),
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused individuals remain in custody and are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Authur FEWER Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a collision investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 11:24 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a single-vehicle collision on Talbot Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a pickup truck was travelling on Talbot Street North when it veered off the roadway and collided with a residence. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and, after conducting a sobriety assessment, took them into custody without incident.

60-year-old Authur FEWER from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Careless driving,
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance,
  • Fail to surrender permit for vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Jason CROMBEZ Facing Numerous Charges

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has arrested a wanted individual in Simcoe, charging them with multiple offences.

At approximately 11:13 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP CSCU spotted an individual with an outstanding warrant operating a motor vehicle on Queen Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

A short time later, officers took the individual into custody without incident.

Upon searching the individual and their vehicle, officers seized suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, Canadian currency, a weapon, and drug paraphernalia.

39-year-old Jason CROMBEZ from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Driving while under suspension,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts),
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine (two counts),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following investigations into separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 6:39 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Little Lake Road in Windham, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a sedan was travelling on Little Lake Road when it left the roadway and collided with a house. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and, after conducting a sobriety assessment, took them into custody without incident.

44-year-old Ryan JONES from Oxford County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available,
  • Fail to surrender insurance card.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

Around 9:59 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, Norfolk County OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Blueline Road in Woodhouse, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a sedan was travelling on Blueline Road when veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail. No injuries were reported.

Officers later located the vehicle on Highway 6 in the Woodhouse area and took the driver into custody without incident.

27-year-old Daniel FEERE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Fail to remain,
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Fatal Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision in Simcoe.

At approximately 9:37 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a sedan on St. John’s Road West in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

The driver, a 37-year-old resident of Norfolk County, sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have confirmed that the driver was the individual who had been reported missing the day before from an address on Brown Street in Port Dover, Norfolk County.

St. John’s Road West, between Norfolk Street South and Hillcrest Road South, is expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on St. John’s Road West and witnessed the collision, or who has any relevant information, to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Scott DUCHENO – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A collision investigation in Delhi has resulted in impaired driving charges against an individual.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a single-vehicle collision on Herbert Avenue in Delhi, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was travelling on Herbert Avenue when it left the roadway and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and took them into custody without incident. Further investigation revealed that the driver had tampered with property on the exterior of a residence before police arrived.

37-year-old Scott DUCHENO from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Craig SZATROWSKI – Break & Enter, Theft

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a break-and-enter investigation at Norfolk General Hospital.

At approximately 3:17 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a break-and-enter in progress at Norfolk General Hospital on West Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that two individuals unlawfully entered the exterior property, targeting an outbuilding, and attempted to steal various items.

Officers located and arrested one of the suspects on Elgin Avenue in Simcoe, while the second suspect, described as wearing a multi-coloured bomber-style jacket, fled the scene on foot.

48-year-old Craig SZATROWSKI from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence,
  • Theft under $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Arrest Following Incident At Hospital

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a trespassing incident at Norfolk General Hospital.

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a trespassing incident at Norfolk General Hospital on West Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual refused to leave the premises after being directed to do so by hospital staff, prompting police involvement.

Officers located the individual on the premises, and during their interaction, caused damage to an OPP vehicle.

As a result, the individual was taken into custody.

46-year-old Kristy WILLAERT-RAGANY from Oxford County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Break & Enter – 3 Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals have been charged following a break-and-enter investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 5:27 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a reported break-and-enter on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a group of individuals had unlawfully entered a business on the property.

Officers located three individuals on the premises and took them into custody without incident. A search of the individuals led to the discovery and seizure of suspected fentanyl, ecstasy, morphine, and Canadian currency.

36-year-old Kirbie WAMSLEY from Haldimand County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin),
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – methylenedioxyamphetamine (ecstasy)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

45-year-old Zachariah SOLOMON from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – other drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

47-year-old Jason BALCOMB from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin),
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5,000 (in Canada),
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order.

COYNE – Break & Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a break-and-enter investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a break-and-enter in progress on Donly Drive South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual unlawfully entered a business on the property. Upon being confronted by officers, the suspect fled on foot. Officers later located and arrested the individual on Victoria Street in Simcoe without further incident.

40-year-old Danny COYNE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Zachary SHAW Was Arrested Again

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into a shoplifting incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 1:23 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a reported theft on Queensway East in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual entered a business, concealed merchandise, and attempted to exit without paying.

Officers located the individual on the premises and took them into custody without incident.

47-year-old Zachary SHAW from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Fail to comply with Probation Order,
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following separate impaired driving incidents.

At approximately 1:27 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a suspected impaired driver on Talbot Street in Courtland, Norfolk County.

Officers located the vehicle on Main Street of Courtland in Courtland and arrested the driver without incident.

38-year-old Shawn MURPHY from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Around 1:01 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, a Norfolk County OPP officer conducted a vehicle stop and investigation on Queensway West in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

After completing a roadside sobriety assessment, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

60-year-old Robert ELLIOTT from Etobicoke, Ontario, has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Another Pedestrian Struck

 (NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – One individual has been taken to hospital after a collision between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian in Norfolk County.

On Monday December 23, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members from the Norfolk County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from Oxford OPP, Norfolk County Paramedic Services and Norfolk County Fire Department responded to a collision on Bell Mill Sideroad.

A passenger vehicle and a pedestrian collided. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The injuries are reported to be serious but non-life-threatening.

Bell Mill Sideroad was closed for several hours between Rokeby Sideroad and Goshen Road but has since reopened.
