Andrew MERAW – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – Driver arrested for Impaired driving after South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attend motor vehicle collision.    

On September 2, 2024, at 10:06 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report for a single motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 23 in the Municipality of Kincardine.

The uninjured driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified breath technician.

Andrew MERAW 28-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation over 80
  • Dangerous Driving

Impaired Driver Arrested In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 23, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in Kincardine.

The driver was found to have been impaired by drug.

Francois BELLEMARRE, 47-years-old, from St. Catherines was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of a schedule I substance
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive while licence is suspended

Horse & Buggy Vs Truck

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 8, 2024, at 9:54 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a truck versus horse and buggy on King Street in the Municipality of Kincardine.

Officers attended and determined that two horses were being ridden by their owners (no buggy’s involved) Northbound on King Street. One horse was spooked by nearby construction which caused the horse to run into traffic and was struck by a Southbound vehicle. The rider of the horse was taken to hospital with serious injuries but not deemed life altering or life threatening.

The road was closed for the investigators to assess the collision.

The OPP want to remind all drivers to slow down and move over for vulnerable road users such as horses, horse and buggy, bicycles and tractors. When it comes to meeting a horse, slow down and be patient, pass the horse wide and slow, avoid actions that could spook the horse such as sounding your horn or revving your engine. Horses can be unpredictable, please travel safe around these animals.

Citizen Charged After Police Obtain Medical Records

(KINCARDINE, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made two arrests following a lengthy investigation in the Municipality of Kincardine.

On December 18, 2021, on Albert Road in the Municipality of Kincardine, police received a call for service regarding a stolen motor vehicle. While on patrol, police observed the vehicle abandoned, heavily damaged and involved in a motor vehicle collision. A warrant was sought and granted for the forensic examination of the motor vehicle. A driver was identified by police and a warrant for medical records was granted. As a result of the investigation, two individuals were charged.

Drew LYNCH, 29-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was arrested on July 27, 2024, and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs.

Stephane LYNCH, 50-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was arrested on July 27, 2024, and charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer

The individuals will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

More Domestic Violence #WaitInTheTruck

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 19, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in the Municipality of Kincardine and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old from the Municipality of Kincardine has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

–      Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at a later date. 

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.

Kincardine Drug Bust: Name Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 22, 2024, at 2:07 a.m., officers with the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program in the Municipality of Brockton

During the interaction with the occupants, officers observed illicit drugs in plain view. A search led to the seizure of drugs.

As a result of the investigation, the South Bruce OPP have charged:

Sam Van Bakel, 20-years-old, from Hensall Ontario is charged with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule 1

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Assault In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 16, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in Kincardine and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old resident of Mississauga has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

–     Assault – Spousal

–      Assault Cause bodily harm- Spousal

–      Fail to comply

–     Possession of a Controlled Drug

Jake EDWARDS Arrested After Hit & Run

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) – On June 8, 2024, at 4:03 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision on Highway 9 near Sideroad 10 in the Municipality of Kincardine.

The involved driver fled on foot but was quickly located by officers. The driver displayed signs of impairment. Officers believed that the driver was impaired and placed under arrest. Witness’ in the area report the driver was operating the motor vehicle aggressively just prior to the collision.

Jake EDWARDS, 34-years-old, from the Township of Huron- Kinloss was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision.

Robert THOMPSON Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On May 17, 2024, at 9:07 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the Municipality of Kincardine.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests where they refused to provide samples of their breath.

Robert THOMPSON, 53-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Failure to comply with a demand

Robbery In Kincardine – Repeat Offender Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On May 11, 2024, at 5:52 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a robbery at a jewellery store in Kincardine.   Officers arrived to find that the business owner had been injured. The involved person was arrested at the scene.

As a result of the police investigation, the involved person was identified and taken into custody. 

 A 46-years-old, from Saugeen First Nation was charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Assault with a Weapon – 2 counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Robbery with theft
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused remains in custody pending the result of a show cause hearing scheduled for May 11, 2024. All items stolen have been recovered. The victim was transported to a local hospital and released with minor injuries.

Assault In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – One person is charged following an alleged assault in Kincardine.

On May 6, 2024, at 5:49 p.m., members of the South Bruce detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an altercation between two individuals at an address on Highway 21, Kincardine Township. 

Police have charged a 26-year-old individual from Sarnia with Assault.

The accused has been released from custody and scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on June 12, 2024.

Kincardine Drug Bust – Names Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 18, 2024, at 7:32 p.m., officers with the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle along Durham Street in Kincardine.

During the interaction with the occupants, officers observed illicit drugs in plain view. A search incident to arrest led to the seizure of a quantity of drugs and prohibited weapons.

As a result of the investigation, the South Bruce OPP have charged:

Gavin ARNOLD, 42-years-old, of no fixed address with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Fail to comply with probation (2 counts)

Victoria MARSH, 30-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)

Brendan RITCHIE, 34-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)

Preston RITCHIE, 23-years-old, from Saugeen First Nation with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Kelly SIEFRIED, 39-years-old, from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused parties were held for a bail hearing in Walkerton.

One Brandishing Weapon Arrested In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On March 3, 2024, at 9:53 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a male brandishing a handgun outside of a business along Queen Street in Kincardine.

On April 16, 2024, the South Bruce OPP Major Crimes Unit assisted by the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (WR TRU) and the West Region Emergency Response Team (WR ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in South Bruce.

As a result of the executed search warrant, police seized three imitation firearms and ammunition.

The OPP has charged Gerry SIMOES, 42-years-old, of the Municipality of South Bruce with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Imitation Firearm – Use while committing offence
  • Possession of an imitation firearm weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused was held for a bail hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody.

  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

  • Mischief
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
