Break & Enter In Brussels – Suspect At Large

(HURON EAST, ON) – On August 31, 2024, at approximately 5:18 a.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a report of a break and enter in progress in the area of the Brussels, Morris-Grey Community Centre at 800 Sports Drive in Brussels.

Officers learned that an individual broke into a home in the area and departed after a resident confronted the individual. The individual is described as:

  • White male
  • Approximately 40 years old
  • 6 feet tall
  • Heavy build
  • Light brown or orange coloured stubble on his face
  • Wearing a partial, dark face covering

Investigators believe the suspect may have been involved in additional suspicious person occurrences in the Brussels area. The OPP is asking residents in the village of Brussels to check their video surveillance footage in the overnight of Friday, August 30th, into the early morning of Saturday, August 31st for any individual matching this description or vehicles observed in the area.

Nathanial WARD – Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop at 11:00 p.m. on Friday August 2nd, 2024. 

On August 2nd, Huron County OPP officers observed a vehicle at the corner of Huron Road and Front Road in the Municipality of Huron East. The officer observed the vehicle driver not maintaining the lane as they travelled west on Huron Road. The vehicle was stopped by police soon after the observations.

Police spoke to the driver and determined they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The accused’ breath samples resulted in readings over two times the legal limit.

Nathanial WARD, 32 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 16th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hit & Run Driver Sends One To Hospital – Name Withheld #LikelyACop

(HURON EAST, ON) – On June 17, 2024, the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision on Winthrop Road in the Municipality of Huron East.

Officers responded with members of Huron East Fire and Emergency Services at approximately 7:50 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision.

An 80-year-old passenger from Stratford was transported to hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.

An involved driver fled the scene on foot. Officers from Huron OPP, members of the West Region Emergency Response Team, and K-9 members were in the area continuing the investigation.

On June 18, 2024, Police arrested a 38-year-old from Central Huron with the following charges:

  • Dangerous Driving Cause bodily harm.
  • Fail to stop at accident.
  • Drive while under suspension.
  • Drive motor vehicle no licence.
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance.

The individual remains in custody at this time. The Huron OPP continue to investigate.

Elderly Resident Charged with Assault with a Weapon after Dispute in Seaforth

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a dispute that took place in Seaforth on Wednesday April 3rd that resulted in criminal charges for a Huron East resident.

On April 3rd, 2024, just after 7:00 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of dispute at an address on Main Street in Seaforth, in the Municipality of Huron East. Two males were arguing while police were present, when one of the males drove their pickup truck directly at the other male on foot, almost striking them with the vehicle. The driver was immediately arrested and charged.

William HUNT, 76 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with the following offences:

–      Assault with a Weapon,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was processed and later released with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 27th, 2024.

More Domestic Violence

(HURON EAST, ON) – On February 20th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner in 2020.

A 21-year-old individual from Waterloo has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm – (two counts),

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death – Spousal.

The accused was arrested, processed, and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – On February 21st, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Central Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner in 2022.

A 46-year-old individual from Central Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

–      Assault with a Weapon – Spousal.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – On February 22nd, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Central Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.

A 53-year-old individual from Central Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal – (four counts),

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

The accused was arrested, processed, and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

$50,000 In Corn Dryers Missing

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation by the Huron County Provincial Police (OPP) is under way following a theft report involving two corn blowers valued at $50,000.

On Monday, February 12th, 2024, Huron OPP received a report of a theft from a business address on Cardiff Road in the Municipality of Huron East. Police attended the site of the theft and began their investigation. Police discovered that sometime between February 9th and February 12th, 2024, unknown culprit(s) attended the business property and stole the two corn blower machines, which would have been towed separately by a vehicle.

The corn blowers are described as follows:

Both “WALINGA” brand, green in colour.

Serial numbers: MT66114XDLX02029051, and MT6614DLX0703B10714.

The estimated value of the stolen equipment is $50,000.
