Assault In Huron East – Stephen JOYES Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – On Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed an assault on another person.

The suspect was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

Stephen JOYES, 27 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Assault.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 12, 2025.

Passed Out Behind Wheel – 32 Year Old From Huron East Arrested – Details Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with criminal driving offences after they were found unresponsive in a vehicle on a live lane of traffic in the Municipality of Huron East on April 5th, 2025. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 05, 2025, Huron County OPP officers located a pickup truck idling in a live lane of Johnston Line in Huron East. The driver was unresponsive and was awoken by officers. Police spoke to the driver and discovered that they had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Jesse McKINNON, 32 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Impaired Operation – alcohol and drug,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences under the Liquor Licence Control Act and the Tobacco Tax Act.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 26th, 2025.

One Dead – William DORAN From North Huron Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Huron East on January 1st, 2025, claimed the life of a 32-year-old Central Huron resident. 

Just after 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 01, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department responded to a collision on Blyth Road near Hensall Road in Huron East.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles; a sport utility vehicle and a truck hauling a cattle trailer. The lone driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second driver was not injured. Neither vehicle had passengers on board.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the collision investigation. 

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the sport utility vehicle has been charged with a criminal driving offence.

William DORAN, 25 years-of-age from North Huron was formally charged on April 8th, 2025, with:

–      Dangerous Driving Causing Death.

The accused was processed and later released with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 12, 2025.

Drug Bust – Huron East Resident Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by officers from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce OPP CSCU, West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Toronto Police Service resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Criminal charges have been laid against a Huron East resident.

An investigation initiated in January 2025 by members of the Huron-Perth CSCU led investigators to addresses in Vanastra (Municipality of Huron East), and North York.

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, search warrants were executed in Vanastra and North York which resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and related property. One individual has been arrested and charged.

A quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine were seized. The total value of the illegal drugs seized is estimated at $12,470. Additional offence-related property including cellular phones, packaging, and a digital scale seized by police totaled $4,100.

Howard HYLTON, 41 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl,
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested For Spousal Abuse #WaitInTheTruck

(HURON EAST, ON) – On January 31, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.

A 56-year-old individual from Huron East has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – (9 counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were later remanded into custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Andrew GLENN Was Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual from Huron County following a report of mischief to property in the Municipality of Huron East, Seaforth on January 19, 2025. 

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, Huron County OPP officers were contacted by a complainant who reported that their vehicle had just been damaged by an individual just before midnight. The suspect remained in the area and was located by police shortly after the complaint.

Officers identified the suspect and arrested them at the scene. They have been charged as follows:

Andrew GLENN, 51 years of age from No Fixed Address has been charged with:

–      Mischief Under $5,000.

The accused was processed and held in custody for a bail hearing where they were later remanded into custody with a future court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Nickolas ELLIOTT – Break & Enter

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident following a break-in at a Huron East business property on January 16, 2025. 

Just after noon, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, Huron County OPP officers were contacted by a business owner who reported a break-in with the suspect still at the scene.

Officers attended and located the suspect, who was arrested and charged as follows:

Nickolas ELLIOTT, 33 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Break and Enter.

The accused was processed and held in custody for a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich, where they were remanded into custody.

Another Spousal Assault #WaitInTheTruck

(HURON EAST, ON) – On January 14th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.

A 54-year-old individual from Huron East has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Forcible Confinement,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on February 24th, 2025.

Have You Seen This Stolen Tractor From Brussels?

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a Mahindra tractor with attachments stolen from a property in the Municipality of Huron East, Brussels.

On December 28, 2024, Huron OPP officers received a report that the tractor had been stolen sometime between December 27 and 28, 2024. The tractor is described as follows:

Red Mahindra 1526H tractor with front loader, rear snow blower and soft cab cover. Serial #’s M1060RD206561, 26H17041377, 171702736.

Central Huron Resident Decased Following Collision

(HURON EAST, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Huron East has claimed the life of a Central Huron resident. 

Just after 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 01, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department responded to a collision on Blyth Road near Hensall Road in Huron East.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles; a sport utility vehicle and a truck hauling a cattle trailer. The lone driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second driver was not injured. Neither vehicle had passengers on board.

The deceased is a 32-year-old resident of Central Huron. 

Several cattle needed to be dispatched at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Blyth Road (County Road 25) is currently closed between North Line and Turnbull Line for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.

Aaron CHEYNE – Theft, Break & Enter

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Wellington County CSCU, and Huron County OPP detachment resulted in the seizure of stolen property and charges laid against a Huron East resident.

A break, enter and theft investigation in Central Huron was initiated by members of the Huron OPP detachment which led investigators to a suspect in the Municipality of Huron East.

On Tuesday, November 05, 2024, a search warrant was executed in Seaforth which resulted in the seizure of stolen property. One individual has been arrested and charged.

Aaron CHEYNE, 40 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Break, enter a place – with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle,
  • Operation while Prohibited,
  • Theft,
  • Theft – Intent to Steal,
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property – (two counts).

The accused was processed and was later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on December 9, 2024.

Petrus VANRENSBURG – Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a West Perth resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a single vehicle collision into a ditch in the early morning hours of Sunday October 20th, 2024. 

On October 20th, Huron County OPP officers were contacted about a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of Blyth Road and McNaught Line in the Municipality of Huron East. Officers attended the scene, spoke to the driver, and determined they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The accused’ breath samples resulted in readings over two times the legal limit.

Petrus VANRENSBURG, 30 years of age from West Perth has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 2nd, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Plane Crash In Huron East

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to an airplane crash in the Municipality of Huron East on Saturday October 5th, 2024, just after 11:20 a.m.  

Police received a 911 call from the involved pilot after they had crash-landed in a farm field near Newry Road in Huron East. The lone 68-year-old pilot from Central Huron was located inside the plane and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The pilot was attempting to land on a grass runway in a nearby field and was unable to stop before crossing over Newry Road and impacting the ground on the other side of the roadway.

Initially, emergency responders believed there were three other passengers on board the plane, but it was later determined that these individuals were good Samaritans that had stopped to assist the pilot. The OPP would like to extend their thanks for the assistance they provided at the scene.

Morrison Line Collision Sends Two To Hospital

(HURON EAST, ON) – On September 22, 2024, at 2:28 a.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Morrison Line between Mill Road and Roman Road, Municipality of Huron East.

Two individuals were transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a local hospital; one with significant injuries.

Road closures were placed at the scene for the protection of emergency responders; the roadway remains closed at this time.

The Huron County OPP is continuing to investigate the collision with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME).
